This of it like an experiment to see if we can duplicate East Germany.AndrewPricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11312364467936820986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4425587034622601550.post-75901397244772942992010-12-31T13:21:10.128-05:002010-12-31T13:21:10.128-05:00T_Rav: The worst part is that even the econuts ad...T_Rav: The worst part is that even the econuts admit that the damned fish was dying out anyway, and has no known connection to the survival of the ecosystem. I have my own well so water isn't a problem for me. But I look down on an entire valley that seems to be completely up for sale because they can no longer farm the land. What ought to be lush green fields have turned to brown weed patches. It's a genuine tragedy.LawHawkRFDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17800255923675295515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4425587034622601550.post-8988175170469140772010-12-31T12:15:54.987-05:002010-12-31T12:15:54.987-05:00And now some of the most productive land in the en...And now some of the most productive land in the entire United States, which used to export food overseas, is now a net food importer with the highest unemployment rate in the country. I can't possibly feel superior, because this was inflicted on the reddest part of CA by a liberal judge, which could happen anywhere.

Here's the article I mentioned:

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/12/30/californias-central-valley-zimbabwe-west/

The worst part is in the comments section, where some reject yawns and basically says, "Ridicule the smelt all you want, but it's an important environmental indicator and you can't just go off killing species because they inconvenience you!" Which might be true--I honestly have no idea--but what's the use of an indicator of the ecosystem's status if you've been robbed of the ability to live off that ecosystem in the first place?T_Ravnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4425587034622601550.post-23922869442283903772010-12-31T12:11:39.178-05:002010-12-31T12:11:39.178-05:00This is probably great news for all the Hollywood ...This is probably great news for all the Hollywood celebrities that like to get their pictures taken in Third World countries holding babies and (supposedly) building water wells. An updated version of The Mouse That Roared. But real lives and the biggest economy in the United States are being destroyed by petty bureaucrats and psychotic dreamers. Ironically, we denizens of the Central Valley are now being inundated by heavy rains and snow, wiping out roadways and flooding low-lying areas because the water infrastructure (dams, levees, etc.) has been allowed to deteriorate. All because of one stinking, useless fish.LawHawkRFDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17800255923675295515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4425587034622601550.post-71907198508428517702010-12-31T11:15:09.047-05:002010-12-31T11:15:09.047-05:00I was just reading a piece on Hot Air yesterday ab...I was just reading a piece on Hot Air yesterday about everything that's happened to the Central Valley since the government got worried about saving the stupid delta smelt or whatever it is. If there was ever a case where government officials ought to be arrested for gross abuse of their powers, this is surely it. But hey, they saved an important part of the ecosystem, so I guess that counts for something (sarc).T_Ravnoreply@blogger.com
