Vent Away: Nobel Prize for Hopey

"Hope is nature's veil for hiding truth's nakedness."

  1. I think the quote above is perfect, seeing as how they gave this award to Hopey because he gives us "Hope."

I'm hoping that Westminster will now award him "Best in Show," because I'm sure he can earn it in the future as well.

  2. At least I know who to bet on for the Kentucky Derby next year. I expect he'll just sweep the Preakness and the Belmont too for the Triple Crown!

  3. Bev, that's funny! I can see him polishing his award right now.

He's going to a bigger award case.

  4. "Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize"

    What a f***ing joke.

    That's my quote.

  5. Actually, shouldn't it have been Obama's Teleprompter that won instead?

  6. I think we are the butt of a big giant world joke. They're seeing how big this guy's head can get before it explodes.

Speaking of big heads, everyone should go vote for #87 Barack Obobblehead in the "$33.18 Steel Cage Art Death Match" @

by tomorrow. I am terrible at self-promotion, so... help. I only need 75,000+ votes to catch up. Thanks. You are all very good looking, highly intelligent people.

  7. Unlike the Great O himself, I'm speechless.

LOL @ Best in Show and Kentucky Derby, though. :D

  8. He's in great company: Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Yasser Arafat...

  9. Barack Hussein Obama - will definitely need to buy bigger hats.

I could vent Andrew (I've vented on other blogs), but all I feel now is a sense of disgust.

Being from the same country as Barack Hussein Obama simply makes me feel - soiled.

  10. This is like giving an Academy Award to someone who's taken acting lessons but never starred in a movie. I'm with Bev: the Teleprompter is more deserving. Still, Obama is the gift that keeps on giving. More comedic gold.

  11. LL, I understand completely. This is just too bizare to make any sense. Even nutjobs like the Nobel committee should be ashamed of this choice.

Bev, I'm thinking you're right. Time to bet heavily on the Derby!

Pitts, That's a nice list to be a part of. Any normal human would have turned down the prize (but not the money ;-) ).

  12. USArtguy, I think I may quote you on that.

Writer X, You've found his secret talent. . . his only talent.

Suzie, It does feel like a joke doesn't it?

Did you all know that Ghandi never got the award? But Hopey does. That makes sense.

  13. oh, i vented away after laughing and wondering if others are on to this like we are here.

  14. HOLY CRAP ! ! ! ! When my screen popped up this morning and I saw "Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize," I thought it was a headline from The Onion. That was followed by the realization that I wasn't seeing things, followed by a string of expletives and thrown coffee cups. Then I got angry.

At least now the article I wrote for today (should pop up soon) makes a little more sense. Obama wants his latest unearned and undeserved accolade so badly that he'll lose the war in Afghanistan rather than lose his Nobel Prize.

    I HATE THE NOBEL COMMITTEE ! ! !

  15. Guys, you know Barry can fly, and I don’t mean just on Air Force One. Remember, we have been taught by Lois Farrakan that before the evil blue eyes (white man) came into the world the black man could fly. This has been documented in the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt. So, what does this have to do with the Nobel Prize …well nothing. I’m just sayin…

  16. Exactly, Lawhawk. I had to scan through twice just to make sure. The word that first comes to mind is ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. However, if you look at it in the context of the liberal mindset, it makes perfect sense (I know, I know). First, it's all about perception and feeling rather than accomplishment. Secondly, it's petulant and childish behavior in reaction to eight years of George Bush. Right in keeping with the liberal socialist mindset.
I am sure that this will answer the question of whether or not Obama drifts back toward the center. No. All that the NP commitee has done is give a diabetic narccissist and huge dose of sugar.

    Yep, a f*cking joke.

  17. 7a.m. discussion w/hubby

CrisD:News of the day, dear, Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize.

    hubby:What do you mean?

CrisD: I mean...Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!

hubby:I don't get it. How? When? Why? What do you mean?

ChrisD: OBAMA WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!

    hubby: Oh, jeez...that's crap anyway.

CrisD:They voted on it Feb 1st.

hubby: He had only been President for 2 weeks.

CrisD: *head silently explodes* Right. Forget it. Are you walking the dogs or am I?

  18. 98JUSMC: Good to see you again, we've missed your straight-to-the-point comments.

I'm still trying to absorb this ridiculous and nonsensical garbage. Normally, at my angriest, I rarely sputter for more than about fifteen minutes. It's been two hours and counting, and I'm still sputtering. I've wracked my brain trying to come up with one single concrete thing that the idiots in Stockholm could have hung their hats on in making the award. There aren't any.

So that only leaves what you said. As we've discussed on this site numerous times, it's all show and no go. As my very wise mother always said "Peace is not merely the absence of war. There is eternal peace in the grave." I'm not ready for them to throw the dirt over me because we have a spineless jellyfish as president who wins prizes for his spinelessness.

  19. heh, heh....yeah, sometimes I exceed the normal issue of bluntness. I would NOT make a good politician. It's good to see you guys. I see the smell of new drywall has worn off. Hope it didn't come from China.

I hear you loud and clear. You know, I am all for rewarding a global mover and a shaker, ie: Walesa, Ghandi, et al. Obviously, this puts "Have Teleprompter, Will Travel via Air Force One" in the company of Gore, Carter and Arafat. No, I take that back. This is a new catagory. Aw, sh*t! His head just gained 10,000 feet, right there.
"In the catagory of non-accomplishment on the global stage...."
Yeah, I am still in a major stste of stunned. This leads me to believe some things I have not wanted to acknowledge. There is a multi-national effort to take this country down. Seems obvious but, the exidence is now pretty unmistakeable to me, finally. Wow, I really am shaking a little bit. Anger and now, fear of a future out of the control of the American people. I wonder if any of the moderate lefties who still maintain a brain cell or two, see this the same way?

  20. I completely agree. The Nobel committee is now officially on my @*#@ list. They are going to use that prize to control old Obama who has an ego larger than most SCUD missiles. Maybe my next book will be an alternate history depicting how this presidency is really just one big joke... Of course it will be non-fiction.

  21. Whenever you all are out in public and Nobel prize is mentioned, particularly in polite company, derisively sneer and laugh out loud. If you can blow your drink out through your nose, even better, but I realize that is asking alot.
