Happy Face, Happy Facebook

I'm not the fan of Facebook that so many others are. In fact, unless I get an e-mail telling me that somebody has commented on my home page, I can go weeks without looking at it. But this was too priceless to ignore. Conservatives have taken a page out of the left's Facebook Playbook.

On April 20, they "friended" Emperor Barack Gaius Julius Augustus Caesar Obama's town hall meeting on Facebook. For 39 glorious minutes, the picture of The One was replaced with a message that read "Event Unavailable. We're sorry, this event isn't working right now. Please try again later." During his campaign trip to California, El Presidente had decided that as long as he was in Palo Alto, near the Stanford University campus and in the heart of Silicon Valley, he might as well visit the headquarters of Facebook and produce a town hall meeting themed "Shared Responsibility and Shared Prosperity."

That means that the socialists in the White House and Congress will take your responsibility and your prosperity and share it with the Democrats and other people who possess neither. It was too much for ForAmerica chairman Brent Bozell to swallow, and he enlisted an online army to comment at the town hall site about repealing Obamacare. He asked his Facebook friends to send the comment "It's not a tough choice, Mr. President. You have added $3.5 TRILLION to the debt already, the first thing we should do is repeal Obamacare." At last, somebody who thinks that hanging all the lawyers isn't the nation's top priority!

Even Bozell himself was a bit overawed by the response. Says the founder of the Media Research Center (aka the anti-Media Matters): "As the comments grew on the town hall page we marveled at the speed and volume of posts from ForAmerica supporters. Within a few minutes, the town hall page was taken down. . . and when it was restored, no new comments were allowed for several more minutes." Also caught unawares was public policy communications Facebook manager, Andrew Noyes. When asked what happened, he replied: "I'm unable to comment on why some people reported that the event was unavailable for a brief period of time. The page was and is operational."

And now, ladies and gentlemen, you know why it is so critical that the Obamists get control over the internet and social networking sites. Somebody might point out that the emperor has no clothes. And no brain, either.

  1. I would "de-friend" Obama except as Spock might say "Barrack, I am not now nor have I ever been your friend. Resign now and let us prosper."

Seriously, I see some similarities between Egypt and . . .

  2. LawHawk, since when is our top priority NOT to hang all lawyers?? You must not love America.

  3. What a shame. And here I thought Obama was a master of the new waves of communicating. . . odd that the public would ruin that fantasy! LOL!

  4. Tennessee: I guess it could be worse. Nancy Pelosi now sends me the traditional e-mail and "friends" me. I must have pushed a wrong button somewhere along the line. On the other hand, if I de-friend her, how will I know the secrets of salvation that are being cooked-up in San Francisco?

  5. T_Rav: Aw, c'mon, ya know ya love us. But if you must, please stick with the scaffold. I hate needles.

  6. Andrew: And lo, he is with us always, even unto the end of the internet.

  7. LawHawk,

There are just two types of lawyer. Only the parasitic type is targeted. You have nothing to fear. People like Edwards and Obama have a lot to fear.

  8. LawHawk, be lucky this isn't the sixteenth century--I might have a thing or two to say about hanging, drawing and quartering! (just kidding) (maybe)

Totally off topic, but on a different note, y'all probably know about the flooding that's been going on in MO; anyway, my mom texted me this morning to say that a levee broke north of town and they may have to evacuate. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen, and if you guys could do the same, I'd appreciate it. Okay, personal touchy-feely moment over.

  9. T_Rav: They've been showing the evacuations on Fox News Channel. I hope your family comes out OK. Scary stuff.

  10. Joel: Whew, I was getting worried. We're not all bad guys. I was afraid nobody had noticed. Thanks.

  11. bwhahahaha! it's the new revolution of conservatives finally getting that they have to use all tools at their disposal, even the scawy internets, to defeat barry's regime.

  12. Patti: Ain't it great? If this old dog can learn new tricks, I should think the smarty-pants Republicans and knowledgeable conservatives could learn too. This isn't quite as much fun as overturning a Highway Patrol car on the Berkeley campus was, but in my dotage, it will have to do.

  13. And I thought that Obama was so social media savvy? He and his team really looked like bozos on this one. Not that I'm complaining.

  14. FYI- Not a peep about the Facebook "Townhall" shutting down on HuffPo. They just give a glowing account about how many people signed up to participate (35K) and how glorious it is that we have such a hip President that knows how to use Facebook. Now if only he knew how to lead! (Okay, I added the last part...)

  15. LawHawk, they should be all right. Our house is on slightly higher ground, so it won't be in as much danger. A lot of other people may not be so lucky.

Didn't see the FNC coverage. Probably it was from Poplar Bluff, which is an hour southwest of us. I really wish I was back up there doing something to help, even if just filling sandbags, but no such luck. (sigh)

I'm with you on the new techy stuff but for the one to get trounced upon by the new stuff is great. If you say his first name loud and fast it sounds a lot like his rhetoric.

  17. WriterX: Bozos is about as good a description as I've heard. All they need is a lapel flower that sprays water. I don't see them as so much media-savvy as media-complicit. They get their leadership from the MSM and academia, then follow. Now we're learning the tricks without accepting the philosophy.

  18. Bev: Now there's a shock, huh. I can't imagine a lefty site not mentioning a negative about Obama (unless the criticism comes from the far left). The missed their chance to announce a conservatofascist attack on free speech. LOL

Obama's cry is "show me where my people are going so that I may lead them."

  19. Tehachapi Tom: I always thought it sounded like somebody trying to clear his throat. Unfortunately, Barack (Barak) is also the name of a Hebrew hero, the strong right arm of the prophet Deborah. So I have to resist the temptation to be really vicious.

  20. LawHawk, I once saw a sign in a local store that said because the name Barak is in the Bible, Obama's election was prophesied by Scripture. I have no idea who made the sign, or if it's still there, although I'm thinking not--at least, I hope not.

  21. T_Rav: Well, Satan's name is in the Bible, too. So if Satan Obama ever runs, I guess it will be a fulfillment of the prophecies. Barak was subservient to his mistress, Deborah. Michelle, Deborah. Hmmm. I wonder if maybe there is a prophecy there. LOL
