Question: I'm Ready For My Close Up!

Some dude in England once said: “All the world’s a stage.” Which makes us all actors. So let’s think bigger. And. . . and. . . LINE! Oh yeah, if you be any movie character in real life, who would you be?

And before anyone else says it, I would love to be the real James T. Kirk! (During the series, not the movies.)

Sherlock Holmes

Oh, boy. Either Indiana Jones or Captain Kirk (even though the latter was created for TV).

On the other hand, Peter Venkman (Bill Murray in Ghostbusters) would be a cool character to be in real life. Save the world, play with cool gadgets, and get the girl, all while retaining a sense of humor. (In real life, I'm more like Dan Aykroyd's character.)

Beat me by two minutes, Andrew! And only because I had another line that I deleted!

Jed, Excellent choice -- brilliant man, great reputation, and cool hobbies (except for the drug habit, but hey, nobody's perfect).

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, Good choices as well! Obviously I like the Kirk choice. :-)

Being Indiana Jones would be pretty awesome too. Lots of travel and you get to see and do some cool stuff.

Murray was hilarious in Ghostbusters! I like all the characters, but Venkman really had the best attitude on life. There's nothing wrong with being like Aykroyd, just don't try to be like Rick Moranis' character. . . and avoid as much Egon as possible.

Malcom Reynolds from Firefly and Serenity.

It was actually a tie between Sherlock and Bond . . James Bond. The drugs must have won out over the Bond Girls lol;-)!

AndrewPrice said...

Joel, Gooood choice! I didn't even think about him. He's "the" modern cowboy!

AndrewPrice said...

Jed, LOL!

James Bond would be another excellent choice, especially if you're talking about older (Connery) Bond. He seemed to have much more fun performing his day job! :-)

Between Bond and Holmes, I would pick Bond, but it would be a close call.

Tennessee Jed said...

There is no Bond, but Connery. Moore, Daulton, and Brosnan are all but profits. Yes Jeremy Brett was the greatest Sherlock of all times. However, I have an incredible soft spot for Sir Basil Rathbone who I had the distinct priviledge of meeting while I was in college. He was equally adept as Brett, but had to do those WWII versions which so violated the canon.

Andrew: Clark Kent, because I've always wanted to be a mild-mannered reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper.

AndrewPrice said...

Jed, Cool! I am a fan of Jeremy Brett because he's the only one I saw for so many years that he became associated with the role for me -- plus, he's the one I saw first. But I do appreciate Rathbone and I think he was fantastic in the role.

As for Bond, I couldn't agree more -- there is only one real Bond: Sean Connery. The other guys are all posers.

Lawhawk, You do know that he has some very involved hobbies, right? And that those seem to interfere with his sleep and his weekends. ;-)

As usual, choosing only one is tough.

Indiana Jones, Han Solo, James Bond, Bruce Wayne (Batman!), "Blondie" (Clint Eastwood's character The Good The Bad and The Ugly) or practically any John Wayne character... pilgrim, aw-haw. Oh, and I always thought the bounty hunter, Boba Fett, from the original Star Wars was cool.

AndrewPrice said...

USArtguy, Excellent list. Han Solo would be pretty cool, so would Clint's character. Of course, they both lead pretty hard lives, but I guess that's part of the fun. I have to admit that every time I see The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, it always makes me want to get a horse and go roam the West.

I'm torn between Antebellum Scarlett or Reconstruction Scarlett...

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, LOL! How did I know you would bring up GWTW? Although, I wasn't sure if you would pick Scarlett or Olivia de Havilland's character (Melanie).

Dirty Harry! It would be great fun to kick the dog squeeze out of the bad guys, and deliver great lines like:

“ I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, That's one of those great moments in film that I recall everyone in the country repeating.

Major Anthony Nelson USAF. Not only did he have a seriously cool job but 1960s Barbara Eden...that works!

AndrewPrice said...

JB1000, LOL! Good call! That was a great show! And who wouldn't mind having a friendly genie?

Ed said...

Harry Potter. I know, I know. But I really like the world she created.

Tennessee Jed said...

Major Nelson was played by Mary Matin's son Larry Hagman who was far better known as another iconic character . . . J.R. Ewing

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, I like the world she created as well, even if it is full of evil jerks.

AndrewPrice said...

Jed, J.R. was indeed his most famous role. I didn't want Dallas as a kid, but it was so famous that I can still hum the theme song!

MegaTroll said...

This one's easy! Ha! Shrek. I'll bet you never saw that coming?

AndrewPrice said...

Mega, Somehow I did see that coming! LOL!

Mjolnir said...

Edward Woodward's Robert McCall from The Equalizer...

I would be SO busy...

AndrewPrice said...

Good show and great actor! I liked Woodward best as Breaker Morant.

Mjolnir said...

I liked Breaker Morant too...got it on Netflix online...

AndrewPrice said...

Mjolnir, That's one of my favorite movies. It's very well done, it's an interesting story (it's actually a true story -- I read Witten's book "Scapegoats of the Empire"), it's got great cinematography and great acting. I just wish the sound were a little better.

I'd go with Lara Croft. Cool job, fun toys, and good friends.

AndrewPrice said...

Lara Croft, Cool choice! I like those movies -- very fun, and I have to say that Jolie does a great job in the role.
