If there’s one thing liberals/leftists just can’t get out of their systems, it’s the desire to act like Nazis. They just love the idea of imprisoning and killing those who disagree with them. And no, I’m not kidding. Every single socialist movement the world over has rounded up opponents and even here there are those who openly wish such things. . . people like global warming enthusiast Steve Zwick.
Steve Zwick, for those who don’t know, is a “climate change” alarmist who periodically writes for Forbes magazine. In his most recent article, he pulled a Hitler. Specifically, he said this:
“We know who the active denialists are – not the people who buy the lies, mind you, but the people who create the lies. Let’s start keeping track of them now, and when the famines come, let’s make them pay. Let’s let their houses burn. Let’s swap their safe land for submerged islands. . . They broke the climate. Why should the rest of us have to pay for it?”
Stick in the word “Jews” and this thing comes right out of any speech by Hitler. Note how Zwick suggest the creation of an enemies list. Those people need to be marked, perhaps with a yellow sun on their lapels. They are to be considered subhuman. And when Zwick decides it’s time for his final solution, we are to burn their houses and drown them. They must pay for their treachery, these climate Jews.
And don’t think this is an isolated incident. Earlier this month, University of Oregon “Professor” Kari Norgaard (right) said climate change skeptics are akin to “racists” and should be “treated” (medically) as if they had a mental disorder. Norgaard also wrote a letter to Obama in which she called on Obama to suspend democracy to satisfy her climate-fetish. Norgaard, by the way, is a big supporter of Obama climate advisor John P. Holdren who wrote in 1977 that we should carry out forced abortions, mandatory sterilization procedures and drugging of the water supply to weed out the surplus supply of humans. She has also praised NASA global warming alarmist Dr. James Hansen, who has advocated eco-terrorism, including blowing up damns and demolishing cities in the hopes of returning the planet to an agrarian age.
She’s not alone either in advocating dictatorship. Environmental James Lovelock asserted that “democracy must be put on hold to combat global warming.” (Maybe that’s where Dem. Gov. Bev Perdue got the idea that we should suspend elections until Obama can fix the economy?)
In 2006, environmentalist magazine Grist Magazine wrote that there should be “Nuremberg- style war crimes trials” for the “bastards” who are part of the “denial industry” who oppose the global warming enthusiasts. . . both Al Gore and Bill Moyer have endorsed that magazine.
Nice huh?
Anyway, back to Zwick. Besides advocating the murder of people with whom he disagrees, Zwick also became the point man for trying to defend the climategate scandal. In that defense, he actually argued that the Freedom of Information Act should not apply to requests made by right-wingers.
So there you have it:
● Right wingers should not be allowed information on what the government is doing. The law should only work for liberals.
So much for it only happening in Nazi Germany. Now that I think about it. . . maybe we should start burning their houses down?
● Climate change critics should be tracked and their homes burned.
● Obama should suspend democracy to enforce global warming enthusiasts' goals.
● And murder, forced abortion, forced sterilization and eco-terrorism are all valid tools for the government to use in helping the global warming enthusiasts achieve their fetishistic goals.

Andrew.....you hit the nail on the head here. It's sad, discomfiting and all the other terms that apply, that conservatives, traditionalists, libertarians, what have you, are all viewed as represented as the next gen of Nazis, yet the true believers in big government power, group identity (are you a member of the Party?) are always shown as rainbows, light and peace.
I believe the core of their thinking lies in their belief that truly are better than you, and they must use their special gifts that were endowed with, to show the rest of the ignorant haters the error of their ways. It really is scary to think that what happened in Germany 80 years ago is starting to be seen here in this country.
We cannot let it happen, and thank God for the Interwebs and mass communication devices to let the counter word be out there. We need thinkers like you and the other folks that contribute on this site to keep up the good fight. Never give in, never surrender. Fight on!
Andrew,
I think the "active deniers" Kristallnacht has to happen first.
Kristallnacht is the night of the broken glass where in Nazi Germany, Jewish businesses and synagogues were targeted by the SA stormtroopers.. It was a coordinated pogrom.
I mis-doubt that it could happen here, but then again.....
This is the consequence of science increasingly disproving the alarmists' claims. It reminds me of some lawyer saying I read once: "If the law is on your side, pound on the law. If the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. If neither are on your side, pound on the table."
If Obama weren't president, I would see this as nothing more than a desperate rear-guard action. But, of course, there is a danger of it being taken seriously as long as he and his cronies are in office.
This disgusts me. My one consolation is that, in general, the "climate deniers" are also the ones with the guns.
dispicable as these people are, it is peanuts compared to the apparent race war Obama's re-election people and their friends in certain media outlets seem to be working overtime to create. If B.O. loses, they will probably start rioting.
These people are turds and it stuns me that any supposedly respectable place -- university or government would hire them.
Thanks Patriot. What amazes me is that any sane human being could actually think like these people. How messed up do you need to be to think (and write) about keeping track of people who disagree with you and then burning down their houses? The very thought process just boggles my mind. It's the type of thinking reserves for lunatics.
And I agree entirely, this is all about them thinking they are superior and them thinking they have the right to tell the rest of us how to live our lives. This is about control. This has nothing to do with the environment, it's about power and control. They are basically "population rapists."
Andrew, Maybe I'm in a silver-lining mood, but I do see one great upside to all of this. As you point out, every socialist movement in history--and by extension every totalitarian movement--has tried to exterminate its ideological enemies.
In the past, they have cloaked their aims in shrouds of racism and response to cultural threats. This would be the first time in history where the socialists are fully out with the fact that they are murderously opposed to mere ideas. This is an inadvertent step toward the light on their part.
Of course, they still make the claim that their opponents pose an existential threat to people, the planet, or whatever. But as I see it, there is only one step left for the left to take before they are fully bathed in the sun. That is, the only admission left is that their opponents pose no threat and the merely wish to destroy.
If I can read the rabid foam that drips from their frantic jowls, I'd say we are no more than a generation or two from that coming out. Praise be!
Joel, That is exactly what he's advocating here. He's advocating the creation of a blacklist of people who will be banned, abused, mistreated, and ostracized. Burning down their homes is only a "suggestion" for the crazier people who would use the risk -- essentially it's a target list for eco-terrorists, with a desire to get everyone else to see the murders as justified.
DUQ, I feel compelled to remind the group that turds have substance. These people are farts.
Andrew, Patriot, of course you know, these people would be the first to defend their rantings as a First Amendment right.
T-Rav, This is definitely the response to them seeing their world falling apart. The science they were using as cover to get what they wanted has fallen apart on them. The public has lost faith. Their dirty deeds are being exposed. They thought they were about to be handed power to control the rest of us because of this eco-emergency, and instead it's all falling apart. So they are lashing out and becoming desperate.
Crispy, That's true. And in the end, these are mostly hollow threats and intellectual-jerking-off. But make no mistake that this is hate speech and they know they are inciting the crazies to take action.
folks, I need to leave... I'll be back later.
These ecoweenies live in an echo chamber where hysterics is their natural state. I’m with Tryanmax, this all good, we have the left fully exposed, and in three or four elections, we can relegate these bastards into obscurity where they belong. I have fun using a quip about try to negotiate with an Abbie Hoffman (‘60s radical), you can’t argue with a sick mind, these jerks must be utterly and completely defeated, not met halfway.
Oh, if OWS is an example of their stormtroopers, I relish the day, they decide to play tough. Open season boys and girls, no bag limit.
Stan, my first hope is that no violence occurs at all. My second hope is that, should it ever come to violence, the green/OWS leaders are dumb enough to provoke our side in such an open manner. If they try open warfare, that should be over in a day or two.
It occurred to me the other day that to make his image complete, all Obama and his advisers need to do is start calling his programs "five-year plans." That would accomplish a dual goal. First, he would be utilizing the same name for his agenda as his communist idols. Second, he would be subtly announcing that he has no intention of surrendering the White House to anyone just because of those pesky Constitutional term limits.
I'm back. False alarm, sorry.
DUQ, It is strange. You would think any respectable institution would want nothing to do with these people, but then government and colleges can no longer be considered respectable institutions. They've instead become bastions of idiocy and perversion.
But these people are important to us for those lucrative research grants!....er, that is, saving the planet! Yeah, that's it, protecting the environment and all that....
Jed, I think this issue goes much further than just environmentalism. This power-mad, "stop the enemy at all costs" philosophy permeates the left. That's why even a sitting governor can propose suspending the Constitution to fix an economic "crisis." The radical left was the Nazis and the communists. They briefly abandoned those positions after the Nazi's crimes were exposed, but they have been drifting back ever since. They respect neither law nor life nor dignity. They only respect power. And all their talk about human rights and fairness is simply talk. They don't really believe it.
tryanmax, They are definitely risking getting caught by the public, especially in the modern age where the internet makes it possible for people like us to repeat their quotes to each other. The age of them speaking in these journals to each other and the public never hearing are over.
On your bigger point, I think the left is headed for a meltdown. They are becoming increasingly nasty and totalitarian and those kinds of impulses do not go away, they only get worse -- like a drug addiction. So I expect something will happen at some point to cause this all to explode.
tryanmax, Of course they would demand their first amendment rights. They are lovers of the Constitution when it helps them and haters when it stands in their way. Hypocrisy is no bar to someone who craves power.
And on your specific point, look at the FOIA defense. They genuinely believe that FOIA should exist and should be available to them because that's how government is supposed to work... except, the government should ignore the requests of right-wingers. Basically, it's government protection for them and only them.
un/fortunately, the "normal" person expects others the behave and react as (s)he would. In addition, people prefer to believe the "exception to the rule" concept - extreme actions are not "the rule". Therefore, they really do not see this type of regurgitation as a true threat. They do not see the insidious nature of these "true-believers"; they do not recognize how easily the implicit violence could become explicit.
Add to that the indoctrination that only "right-wingers" are potentially violent fascists, and you get: "That can't happen here. They just care about the Earth. (puppy eyes) You're exaggerating!"
Stan, I think they are being exposed, and that is the problem. Climategate never would have happened twenty years ago. Quotes like this never would have made it out to the public ten years ago, and even then would have been quickly dismissed by the MSM as "out of context" or a lone crank. The days of hiding these things from the public are over. And that's a good thing because the more the public knows, the more it will reject their ideas.
And you're right, if OWS is the best they have, this is going to be a very short "revolution" when they finally decide to rise up.
T-Rav, OWS was an attempt to bring about a massive wave of people who would bring down the government. It failed. And when you lack popular support, you turn to terrorism.
And in that regard, violence/terrorism is already occurring, it's just been ineffective. The greens have a terrorist wing who are the biggest terrorists in the country. They've burned who housing developments and sent bombs through the mail. They dominate the FBI's most wanted list. You also have the animal rights people who engage in actual terror and quasi-terror. You have the anarchists who riot in cities to protest global financial organizations. Similarly, groups like the Black Panthers have been arming themselves and trying to take over neighborhoods.
These things are all related. They are leftist terrorism which is seeking to destroy the system and replace it with something with them in charge.
And this will get worse before it gets better.
You know the world is upside down when I am more comfortable with were we stand with China than with these fascists. Let's start calling a spade a spade. These people are fascists.
Webster definition: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
A final comment on an armed conflict is remember that the police and military have always been on the side of those in power. Sure, many individuals in those groups may not support the fascists, but it is no accident that we are being portrayed as the people who want to end their pensions.
Lawhawk, I think his budget actually was a five year budget. LOL!
Dear Universities, Are you familiar with the express "penny wise pound foolish"? Hey, that's you on the intellectual front!
rlaWTX, All true. But as the collection of these quotes grows, people on the right will need to start collecting a database and telling people about this over and over. They further need to point out how these nutjobs end up in professorships and as part of Democratic administrations. They need to learn to start organizing protests and boycotts.
It will eventually become impossible to write these people off as some crazy fringe when they are constantly promoted by the Democrats to positions of authority and when the MSM can no longer just bury the things they've done and said.
We've sat by silently for 50 years as the left told everyone what to believe. But now we have an avenue to expose their lies and expose their true beliefs. It won't be easy, but the fact this information is being heard is the first crack in the dam. . . and the dam will eventually break.
It's not just AGW. See Woody Allan's comments on making Obama dictator. This is a manifestation of the resurgence of progressivism as a viable political choice in US politics.
There is a reason that Time magazine's cover showed BHO as FDR. Roosevelt considered himself a progressive and remains a progressive icon. And who was the only President to actually put large numbers of Americans into camps?
FDR.
rlaWTX, That is true. We are facing an uphill battle because they still control the schools, the government, the MSM and the institutions which regulate these professions. But look at how little they've achieved despite all that power? And look at how quickly words spreads now of their misdeeds?
The simple fact is that the public isn't buying their garbage and the more we press on these issues and the more we make this kind of information available to people, the more the public will turn on them.
On the point about only people on the right being violent, that is something we need to fix. Right now, every time some crazed idiot commits a crime, we get the blame. But every time some leftist commits a crime, we are told that they are just crazed loners. We need to start exposing the truth.
That means we need to start making it clear that when leftists commit these crimes, they are doing so with the verbal support of people like Zwick and his fellow travelers. We need to bring up these quotes and demand they answer for them. We need to start linking all the violent and hateful things they say and pointing out how these people aren't the "fringe" because they are employed by Democratic presidents and Congresses and universities. And if they disagreed, they would never hire these people.
Andrew, Excellent article. I wish I could say I was shocked anyone could actually believe these things, but human history tells me otherwise.
Koshcat, They are indeed fascists. It's all the same on that end of the spectrum -- violent suppression of dissent in the name of creating a utopia.
And you are right about the military and police, they tend to side with the government. BUT I think there is one big difference in the US that isn't true in other parts of the world. Our military and police are volunteers who come from average American homes, who love this country, and who are told constantly not to follow illegal orders. I am 100% convinced from all my interactions with military personal (both high up and low down) that our military would refuse to turn against the American people in favor of a dictator wannabe.
I hope you're right, but I am not convinced. Look how they continually try to neuter these organizations. Progressively making it so those who do agree with us don't want to be a part of them. Again, I don't think it is any accident that many of these fascists have called for drafts, a national police force, and required service.
I agree with you that we need to continue exposing these people and their destructive ideas.
Doc, Well said. I think rlaWTX makes a great point, but we need to realize we have only just begun to fight back because we've been handed this tool -- the internet and talk radio which finally let conservative voices be heard.
I agree as well that it will be impossible to dismiss these people as cranks when they are being hired by Obama and Pelosi and Algore and colleges and the UN and NASA, etc.
I also agree about keeping all their quotes in a database so everyone can see what these people have said. The sheer volume will be overwhelming.
k, Great point. And what's fascinating about the idea of FDR putting people into camps is how the left has twisted this into being the result of right-wing racism! Huh? It was absolutely wrong, but it was a progressive who did it -- not some right winger. And it wasn't racist as it was also done to Germans and Italians -- something the race industry always "forgets" to mention.
I think you're right that we really are seeing the rebirth of true 1920s/1930s style progressivism in this country, along with all the big plans for remaking the world and mankind and the willingness to be violent to make that happen.
The question is, how will that go? Will they keep bleeding voters and become a minor, rump party or will they keep their share and become a genuine threat? It's hard to tell right now. And will they finally disavow people like this or will they stand by them? I'm not sure yet how it will all play out.
Thanks Doc. It's amazing how hard it is to be shocked by things like this anymore, isn't it?
Koshcat, It's no accident at all. They want a draft and national service etc. because they want to force all Americans to learn to submit to their government, and what better way to do that than to make you spend a couple years being given orders by the government.
On the military, there really just is no way. I've know a lot of JAGs and a lot of others and I can tell you that they know right from wrong and they simply would never take the kinds of steps someone like Obama would need to illegally retain power. They are specifically trained to spot those kinds of orders and reject them. There is a real culture of being apolitical within the military. They support the country and the constitution, not the President.
Andrew, I agree about the military. I also don't put any faith into the idea that Obama will try to stay longer than the law allows. That's paranoia. But I am concerned that these other violent and obscene ideas are becoming part of the standard Democratic belief system. That will lead to very bad things.
I find this shocking, even for this crew. to openly suggest marking people and then burning their homes is so far beyond the pale that you would think they wouldn't even consider suggesting it.
A quick thought. It's important to distinguish the military from their political generals and the police from their union leaders. The political generals rush to curry favor by backing whatever goofy idea Obama comes up with, though I seriously doubt that most of them would participate in a coup d'etat (which would require actual but misplaced courage). They're only interested in promotions and holding onto their lofty perches. The average grunts, volunteers all, are patriotic and love their country, so they reluctantly accept a weak-kneed commander-in-chief who endangers their lives with namby-pamby rules of engagement and pandering to dictators.
The spokesmen for the police unions are frequently at serious odds with their membership. Cops have a certain sense of self-interest, so when they support the union bosses, it's only in relation to their own salaries and work requirements. For that matter, there are plenty of political police chiefs to go around.
The average serviceman and the average cop understand how much Obama endangers national security overseas and public safety at home. They'll obey their orders, often reluctantly, unless and until Obama crosses the line into expecting them to violate their loyalty oaths to the Constitution, their faith in the American republic, and their honor.
Doc, I think that's the real problem, that these kinds of ideas are becoming acceptable to be discussed openly on the left. That is the first step to these things gaining wider acceptance. We could well be looking back on this period in 10-20 years and pointing to this as the era where a lot of very bad things took root in the Democratic Party.
Ed, You would think so, except that these kinds of ideas have often been part of the dialog throughout human experience. And with the left going insane and pushing themselves further and further out there, it was only a matter of time before these kinds of things started to become spoken of more and more. The real problem is that no one on the left is condemning these ideas as unacceptable.
Lawhawk, I think it's even harder than that for someone like Obama to use them.
For one thing, police departments are locally controlled and will not take orders outside their chain of command. Ditto on the state police. And ditto for national guard units actually. Obama could control the US Marshals and the FBI and that's about it. And they are way too small to even control DC, much less the rest of the country. Nor are they properly equipped.
And with the military, there are dozens of layers which manage the system and prevent this exact kind of thing from happening. People think of the military as this thing with generals directly controlling guys with guns, but it's not. There are very few actual soldiers in the military. Most are clerks, lawyers, accountants, cooks, cops, secretaries, mechanics, computer techs, etc. And between every single group are layers of officers. Every squad, battalion, division, etc. has a new layer of officers. And they need the help of other groups of officers to get their equipment, their ammo, their gas, their meals. All of those people work together.
If Obama tried to issue an illegal order, it is simply inconceivable that this many people would all just go along because everyone top to bottom knows the law forbids the military from getting involved in domestic matters and they would recognize these as illegal orders. So for the military to do this, everyone from the Joint Chiefs all the way down to the unit commanders would need to knowingly follow an illegal order. They don't do that. They are trained to resist such orders and they know that they would each be personally liable for following such an order.
It really is a system which is set up to stop political abuse.
I don't believe the military would support (in order) a suspension of habeus corpus; declaration of martial law to keep the peace; firing on US citizens at the order of their CINC....on a large scale, revolution-wise.
So, while I don't believe the Army National Guard would support the government if it came to it, we never really know who they could get to (and what would be offered in return....Wesley Clark Waco TX anyone?).
Then again, if it happens, it could turn into another Civil War, with states against states and the Federal Government. Yet, in the first Civil War, we didn't have the far Western states, so it would be interesting to see what would happen if we had another one (God forbid).
I think we just need to trust that the Interwebs and mass communication system will prevail to get the word out over the government controlled media outlets. Similar to what's been going on in the Middle East to some extent.
There are many more of us than there are of them. With millions of guns at our side. Would be a pretty tough militia for any force to beat. (Maybe that's why I love the dystopian novels about our world after the Apocalypse)
Andrew...there's a subject to pursue.....Which dystopian film and subject is most likely to occur?!
Andrew: Well said. Not since the Civil War has there been a sufficient number of angry dissidents to engineer anything like an overthrow of the duly-elected government in contravention of the Constitution. And even then, a great many Southerners believed they were defending the Constitution rather than attacking it. No other country has a history of support for its foundational document like ours. Even England can change its "constitution" without a vote of the people.
Lawhawk, Thanks! And very true. It has taken 200 years, but our military has become truly unique in the world as an apolitical organization whose job is to defend the country and the Constitution. They are not hired thugs, mindless murderers, or power-mad dictator wannabes as the left suggests. They are guarantors of American freedom.
Patriot, One of the greatest achievements of America has been the creation of an aversion to the use of force. Americans simply do not accept dictators or coups. We expect rule of law to prevail.
And with a free population and an armed population that outnumbers the greatest military on earth by probably 10,000 to one, it is simply not possible here. That's why leftists have tried to subvert things like the courts because they know they could never seize power here. They need to convert the government from the inside rather than impose a new one from the outside.
Let me get back to you on the dystopian thing as I need to head out the door to an appointment.
Interesting article. I hope people notice and remember.
I don't think terrorist have ever brought down a government have they? So if that becomes the plan, then they are doomed.
It's amazes me that anyone would want to be associated with these people? This like hiring Charlie Manson or some child molester.
Terry, I'm not aware of any terrorist movement that ever managed to topple a government. Frankly, I'm not even aware of terrorists who have ever succeeded at anything. Terror tends to turn people off of the goals being pushed and makes people determined not to give in.
Ellen, So far, the left has been able to get away with a closet full of Mansons because the MSM has dutifully avoided reporting about them. But that's changing now. And if they don't start repudiating these people, it will hurt them.
All I can say is, the comments here sound a lot like what I have discussed with my family, and friends.
We (on Commentarama) are from different parts of the country, and yet we think very much alike. I too think that the left is exposing themselves more each day, and...give them enough rope, and they will eventually hang themselves.
Jen, That's the great thing about the internet. It's opening eyes everywhere as people are realizing that they aren't alone like the MSM claimed. There are tens of millions of us out there who share these same views and thoroughly reject the left's garbage. A decade ago, we had no way to know that. Now we do. And THAT is changing the world.
Andrew, to you and the rest of Commentarama writers, along with those who comment here--KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! I know it's not an easy task, but, we're definitely qualified to take them on! The wool over our eyes is off (and so are the gloves). Now, if I can just get "The Professor" to see the err of his ways... I have been seriously thinking of sending him the link to this blog so that he can read what REAL people think. I need a weigh in on this.
Jen, Thanks! We'll do what we can!
Feel free to send him the link, only I wouldn't expect him to wake up. People like that are very good at finding a million reasons why they are right no matter what. Still, it might be interesting so watch him dance?!
Jen, I've been reading for a while and only recently started commenting. Commentarama is truly the best on the web.
Andrew, "Still, it might be interesting so watch him dance?!" -- LOL!!! That is hilarious! I haven't talked to him in few days, so I might have to give him a call. He'll have to stop over here before too long anyhow (has something here of his that needs to get fixed--can't go into much detail in case he DOES read this).
Ellen, I agree with you. I used to read/sometimes comment at BigHollywood in their early days. Did you read stuff there as well? I'm really not into movies, and such, but that was the first of the "Bigs", so I decided to check it out.
Jen, No, I never went to the Bigs. I have checked them out recently and don't like them. I found Andrew through his Star Trek discussions and then followed him over here and I'm glad I did.
Ellen and Jen, Thanks! :)
I'm glad you're both here. I think we've built a pretty nice little corner of the web around here, and I especially like our audience which is probably the most intelligent audience on the web. I'm amazed how thoughtful people are around here. That makes me very happy!
Jen, No problem. Feel free to invite anyone to join us. We do have some liberal and moderate readers, though they rarely comment. And even among our conservatives, we have a pretty wide range of opinion.
Andrew, it makes me happy too! Y'all don't disappoint! I check things out on a daily basis. I might not read everything depending on how much time I have, or what was posted, but I still come here.
Ellen, I only read stuff on BH for the first year or so. It became overwhelming with the posts/comments, and I just didn't have the time for it. Last year, I wouldn't have had much time either, but this year is different. I had about six months where everything was extremely hectic--was going to sleep at daybreak! What I thought was a good idea, turned into a nightmare, so, I scrapped that, and went back to my usual way of doing things.
Thanks Jen! We're happy to have you here!
Jen and Ellen: What Andrew said.
Andrew, LawHawk, etc.--Thank you as well. See ya tomorrow, I gotta get to workin', my girls are going to be waiting on me before long.
