Oh No, Caught Again... Drilling For Lies

The Democrats like to call themselves the party of science. Yeah, right. Anyone remember Climategate? Do you remember how the global warmists were caught manipulating data time and again to support their political views? Perhaps you remember Obama confirming his support for their data even after they were caught? Well, now he's been caught lying about the scientific support for his moratorium on new drilling in the Gulf. So much for science.

According to the Department of the Interior’s Inspector General, the White House (Mr. Obama and friends) edited a drilling safety report to make it appear that scientists and other experts supported the administration’s six-month ban on new drilling. Said the IG, the editing resulted “in the implication that the moratorium recommendation had been peer reviewed” when it hadn’t.

In fact, eight of the fifteen experts who supposedly signed off on the report issued a statement when Obama released the report, in which they state that they did not support the moratorium:

“We believe the report does not justify the moratorium as written and that the moratorium as changed will not contribute measurably to increased safety and will have immediate and long-term economic effects.”
They also noted that the report issued by Obama, which he claimed they supported, differed in important ways from the draft they had been asked to review. The IG now confirms this.

So much for Obama's claim that he would “restore science to its rightful place” and his memo promising to “restor[e] scientific integrity to government decision-making.” I guess he just meant "the veneer of science"?

And this isn’t even the first time Obama has been caught playing around with the facts in the Gulf. First, he lied about the government’s involvement, claiming that the government had been directing the clean up when it actually did nothing for weeks. Then he misled the public in his first speech by trying to claim this leak resulted in less oil being spilled than the Exxon Valdez disaster, even though the Gulf spill dwarfed the Exxon Valdez spill. Then Obama repeatedly lied about the amount of oil being released into the Gulf. In fact, his lies were so over the top that even the New York Times finally concluded:
“The government repeatedly underestimated how much oil was flowing into the Gulf of Mexico and how much was left after the well was capped in July, leading to a loss of faith in the government’s ability to handle the spill and a continuing breach between the federal authorities and state and local officials.”
This opinion was backed up by four separate reports. In fact, while Team Obama told the public that 5,000 barrels a day were seeping into the Gulf, they knew the real number could be more than twenty times higher. Ultimately, it was determined to be around 60,000 barrels a day. . . twelve times the Obama estimate.

Isn’t it funny that the man who would be Messiah can’t tell the truth about a simple oil spill that technically wasn’t even his fault? And if he would lie about something like that, what else would he lie about? He clearly has no qualms about using other people’s names to support his views, even if he needs to lie, mislead, and distort what they really said.

One of the truism of politics is that it’s not the mistake that undoes a politician, it’s the attempt to cover up the mistake. And telling stupid small lies and pretending that scientists support you, when they don’t, is about as stupid as it gets. Like the President he follows most closely, Richard Nixon, Obama is well on his way to imploding.

Man, I wish I were more shocked by this. I feel like, "Yup, just what I've come to expect from this administration." Ugh!

Thanks for the info, Andrew!

You're welcome Crispy. Sadly, this is what we've come to expect, isn't it?

Liberal: No, no, not yet. Not until me
and Conservative get the rules straightened out.

Conservative: Rules? In a knife fight? No rules!
[Liberal immediately kicks Conservative in the nuts]

Liberal: Well, if there aint' going to be any rules, let's get the fight started. Someone count.
1,2,3 go.

MSM: [quickly] 1,2,3, go!
[Liberal knocks Conservative out]

We keep thinking they have standards.

AndrewPrice said...

Ponderosa, That's true, but I think that's changing. I think they have been able to hide their lack of standards because the MSM controlled the flow of information. . . and the Republicans were stupid RINOs.

But now we have the internet so the public can do it's own search for information and we have an active conservative base to hold the Democrats' feet to the fire -- so things are changing.

Something like this would have been forgotten in the past, unless it was a Republican President. Instead, this is making it's way around to the public, which will keep up the pressure and force more mistakes by Obama.

Obama is a pathological liar. I mean that in the pathological sense. His first response to any question is to lie... he can't help it. (well he could if he were not a narcissistic personality)

I believe that his upbringing is largely responsible for this originally but his continued nurturing within the communist meme has only made it SOP for the adult Barak.

But here is the really good news. It is being reported by the MSM that the WH fudged the numbers. That's a very good sign that the effects of the Koolaid are diminishing...

The technology is changing sure but not the conservative mindset.

In Texas somewhere a Mayor fired his Chief of Police for in part attending a Tea Party rally.
True or not I can’t tell.
My concern: the reaction of the conservatives.

Four of the first six comments worried,
“Was he in uniform?”

Huh? Why do that? Why immediately throw him under the bus. Cripes, the article doesn’t mention anything about a uniform. Is it too much respect for authority?

Should have just said, "Gosh I hope he didn't run a red light." What? How would that be any more relevant? Why add that to the conversation? Defend first.

The Dems fight to the bitter end.
Then keep going.

We just hand them our sword.

darski, He strikes me as a spoiled child who has never been told "no" before. But this goes beyond him, because this involves the EPA as well, the Dept. of the Interior, and others. This is an administration-wide problem.

Bev, I'm glad it's wearing off, but they're going to have a heck of a hang over!!

Ponderosa, Point taken. I have often been frustrated with conservatives not being able to play politics -- they are too stuck in right and wrong and what is proper and not proper to fully understand that politics is a full contact sport and that the other side will lie and distort.

I had a friend way back who used to do exactly what you are saying. If there was an allegation against a Republican, he would be upset at the Republican first. And even if there was nothing to it, then he would be upset that the Republican let themselves be put into that spot. It never dawned on him that the Republican was being smeared, and that he should have said "prove it" before he started looking down on the Republican.

He also thought that it made him sound more reasonable to find fault with his own side... something the left never does. I found that very frustrating. He never understood that it just made him into a patsy for the left.

I saw the same thing in Colorado, with the attacks on all three candidates -- things that wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds against a Democrat became unforgivable against the Republicans. I want clean government and clean candidates, but this is ridiculous and we can't let it be a one-way weapon.

So many of the "reasonable" republicans seem to be ex-military. Unwilling to aply their experience to politics?

Issa & Chaffetz are already talking about looking into the Bush Presidency. BPgate alone should keep them plenty busy.

The Dems steal (reports, votes, elections, etc.) because there is no downside.

I think we had this discussion about a year or so ago, a little Southern saying, I used at that time, “Barry would climb a tree to tell lie, when he could stand on the ground to tell the truth.”

This is an Alinsky disciple, “the ends justify the means.” The problem now for Barry, his horseshit is not hurled into a vacuum, and as was stated up-thread, with the advent of the internet it’s much easier to fact check, and citizen journalist (Commentarama) jump like stink on $hit.

President Bush survived this much better, as he was an honest sincere person who didn’t need to lie. The crap rustled up by the left on “W” was complete hooey made up to entertain leftist. They knew “W” would not fight back, bad move.

I agree with Bev. Although I do wish that the m.s.m., like Joe Biden, would treat this as a B.F.D., it is encouraging that they at least report on it. I have to give guys like Breitbart and yourselves the credit. All of us who have spent the last decade "sitting around in our pajamas" have made it impossible for them to completely ignore it.

Make sure it is on your 2012 reasons to vote against B.O. handy checklist.

AndrewPrice said...

Ponderosa, I have met a lot of military guys who seem to have "believe in the chain of command" beaten into them. But, that said, the military is a great place for people to learn all kinds of great things.

I am cautious of ex-generals because they all seem to suffer what you are talking about -- they play by a rule book and they expect everyone else to play by the same rule book.... but politics isn't about rules.

And you're right, until we start holding the dems accountable and putting them in jail for their crimes, there will be no change. This "everyone made mistakes" crap needs to stop.

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, I think one of the biggest mistakes Bush made was to not fight back. He let them tar him with everything and he never once stood up for himself. In politics, that doesn't make you seem noble, it lets the other guy define you. If he'd fought back, I think 2006/2008 might have been very different.

Obama has no qualms about fighting back, but his problem is that he has nothing to fight back with.

AndrewPrice said...

Jed, I will... I'll keep updating it every day! :-)

I agree about the "pajama" news crew. The internet has broken the monopoly and it's the conservative base that has seized the opportunity with gusto. Not only professionals like Breitbart but also amateurs like us, have made it impossible for the media to ignore these things anymore because word now gets out. And if the MSM wants to stay relevant, they can't keep being scooped by bloggers who have dug deeper than the reporters.

Dane said...

The only reason the media is covering this is because Barry is violating their progressive dreams. They wanted him to use the accident to force cap and trade through but he ends up downplaying it. That's why they're pissed.

AndrewPrice said...

Dane, The thought had crossed my mind that the only reason the MSM is willing to put this out there is because it violated one of their cherished goals.

The IG, however, is responsible for investigating things like this, so that's why they did the report.

Ed said...

You know it's bad when the MSM is pointing out Democratic lies!

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, It definitely seems like the Kool Aid has worn off, doesn't it?

Individualist said...

You know if Obama is successful with this ban one year from now he will be using the bully pulpit to argue that we cannot allow the reopening of drilling because there is no oil down there anyways!

Sadly 30% of America will agree with him.

AndrewPrice said...

Individualist, I have no doubt that he would then change his story and try to find some new reason why they shouldn't restart drilling. My guess is they would slow-walk the safety issue, demanding 100% safety -- which you can never have.
