Quotes of the Week

What would you think tax returns, cheerleaders, and the Three Stooges have in common? Well, I'll tell ya'.... Here are a few quotes from this week that just have to make you laugh:

On Taxes -

Censured reprobate US Rep. Charles Rangel thought he would put his 2-cents in about Romney's May 2012 statement that 47% of our citizens do not pay taxes with his own official statement on his House.gov website. I have linked to the entire statement, but here are two quotes that are just laughable knowing the source:
"Before he judges other people about paying federal income taxes, Gov. Romney should come clean about the tax returns he's hiding from voters."
Oh, and this -
"[Mr. Romney] has absolutely no moral authority to accuse nearly half of the American people of being irresponsible and freeloaders".
He actually used the term "moral authority". This from the man who was censured by the House in December 2010 for among other thing, failing to pay his income taxes. Well, okay, in all fairness to Rep. Rangel, he did not say that Romney said that 47% of our citizens FAIL to pay taxes like he does. He just said that Romney was wrong to say that 47% DON'T pay taxes.

On cheerleaders -

Current Vice President Joseph Biden landed safely (no pedestrians maimed or killed) at Newport High School in New Hampshire this week to talk (inexplicably) to some high school atheletes about who knows what. Good Ol' Joe scanned the crowd and asked which sports were represented. After all the regular team sports were accounted for, a group of cheerleader shouted out their participation too. And this is how the man who is a breath away from being leader of the free world responded:
“Guess what, the cheerleaders in college are the best athletes in college. You think, I’m joking, they’re almost all gymnasts, the stuff they do on hard wood, it blows my mind.” [emphasis added]
As always, this was one of Joe's unscripted and a just plain WTH moment. Oh, I know, that's just Joe being the creepy Uncle Joe with whom young girls are scared to be alone.

And finally On The Three Stooges -
Here is a quote from a Three Stooges classic (Slippery Silk 1937) that I saw this morning that just seemed appropriate. [Yes, I watch the Three Stooges!]:
Man: "Is this work in competent hands?"
Curly: "Soitainly, we're all incompetent!"
It is almost as if they knew there would one day be an Obama Administration...

It never blew -- my mind -- when I was in high school.

Sorry to go off-track here, but I just want to let everyone know that the Blogger gremlin struck again, and all my responses to your comments on the Open Thread have disappeared once again. I apologize, but it's nothing I have any control over.

Bev: There's going to be a lot of wrangling over that 47% figure, but if Romney and Ryan handle it right, they will come out the winners.

What secret is Romney hiding form the voters....

that he only too 2.25 million in deductions for charitable giving of the 4 million he actually gave thus overpaying his taxes by 39% of 1.75 million or 700,000 dollars.

The cad.......

Indi - What's hysterical and hypocritical is that Rangel could even comment on anyone's taxes. But then I'm sure he thinks that he has done his crime and done his time, so he is free and clear to comment. Pity that a day after we discover that Romney has OVERPAID his taxes as opposed to NOT paying them like Rangel. Oh, and do we want to place bets on when Harry Reid will retract his "Romney is a official "Romney is a tax evader" Senate statement...I put my money on....never.

Yes.....I know both parties have their reprobates and idiots, but the Dims sure appear to have the market on the most inane, hypocritical, loony bunch of fools I've ever seen.

Incompetent is appropriate for most of them, but the repubs sure seem to get taken for fools by them again and again. "We'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!" Or, in their case, "We'll gladly cut costs in the out years if you buffoons raise taxes today."

BevfromNYC said...

Groucho, I am afraid there may be too many people who believe HIS lyin' eyes...

But Patriot...then came the Tea Party. It will be interesting to see who wins and which movement survives.

If Obama wins, the Tea Party will ramp it up more;
If Romney wins, it may fade back into the background. But then it may keep going to try and keep him honest and on the right track to fiscal sanity.

It will be interesting to see what happens Nov. 7.

BTW is anyone interested in going to the Inauguration in DC?

T-Rav said...

I probably won't be able to go to the inauguration in any case, and if Obama wins, I won't be interested in going. I have no interest in being surrounded by that many sheep.

Then again, Biden might provide a good stand-up routine. So there's that.

BevfromNYC said...

Plan ahead, T-Rav! I wouldn't go if it's Obama either, but you never know what is going to happen and it's best to be prepared. Jan. 24, 2013 there will be an inauguration and I want to be there if it's Romney. Tickets will be hard to get and it's better to ask now...

Just a suggestion.

Bev......I have always seperated the Tea Party from the Repubs. While they are probably an offshoot more from the Repub side of the House, they are NOT establishment Repubs by an means.

If there were a Conservative Party, that would be the Tea Party. They will continue to exist to hold BOTH parties accountable.

Patriot - I tend to agree with you. For the TP, it has never been about party politics. We gravitated toward the Republicans because they left the door open.

I wonder what will happen to OWS? Will it ramp up if Romney wins or fade into history because it was never a real movement to begin with?

Patriot said...

Bev......the OWS movement came about as a result of the Wisconsin union revisions that Gov. Scott Walker put in place. The unwashed layabouts saw that their brethren were getting away with acting like spoiled children with no repercussions, and so decided to try it out against Wall Street, and then all the successful people and organizations who were better off than they were.

Plus, it was cool man! Let's go down to the park and see what's happening. If you saw some of the certifiably crazy people at Zuccotti Park, you would have felt like I did back in San Francisco in the late 60's early 70's. It was this generations hippie movement with burned out veterans of the sex, drugs and rock and roll wars back then. Almost made me nostalgic for a time when I had no responsibilities and sense.

What a show! (morons)
