Harry Reid Lies And Smears. . . Again

Harry Reid is a man without morals or shame, a man who will lie so blatantly that he doesn’t even care if people know he’s lying, just so long as he thinks his lies are having some effect. A couple weeks back, Dingy Harry started attacking Mitt Romney. At first this seemed strange since no one really cares what the bastard says. But it soon became clear he had been chosen by Obama to lead the smearing of Romney. Reid was likely chosen because he’s a Mormon and thus cannot be accused of being anti-Mormon.

In this instance, Reid claimed that Romney hasn’t paid taxes in ten years, which would be a felony -- and follows Obama’s allegations that Romney committed a felony by misreporting his management position at Bain. . . yawn. Oh, sorry. Where was I? Oh yes, then Reid suggested that Romney has “money hidden in Bermuda, the Caymans Islands, and a Swiss bank account.” He then attacked Romney through Romney’s father: “His poor father must be so embarrassed about his son.”

Harry’s claim about Romney is a lie. There’s no other way to put it. And Harry knows it’s a lie and that people will see it as a lie. So he doubled down and sent forth his winged monkeys to tell MSM journalists “off the record” that Harry learned this from a source at Bain Capital, a source Harry will not name, but whom Harry really believes. Yeah, right. And my “sources” tell me the following about Harry:
● Harry has sex with underage children who are not his wives.
● Harry keeps a dead hooker in his closet.
● Harry is hooked on blow and meth, and he gives handjobs for crack.
● Harry’s big into gay sex. . . with animals.
● Harry bathes in the blood of poor Mexican children for “health reasons.”
● Harry once killed a man. . . and ate him.
● Harry collects Nancy’s Pelosi’s dead skin and made a coat out of it.
● Harry’s mother was a jackal and is very disappointed in her lying son.
But Harry’s unusual proclivities are not the issue. Nor is the fact that Harry lied to slander Romney, nor that he did it on behalf of Obama. Harry is, after all, a Democrat and knowingly making false, slanderous allegations is about the only thing they are good at.

What the issue is, is the interesting response this false claim has gotten. In the past, the Republicans would have turned the other cheek or maybe even attacked Romney for not surrendering to Harry. This time they’re firing back:
● Romney himself said, “I have paid taxes every year, and a lot of taxes, so Harry is wrong. Harry Reid has to put up or shut up. Harry, who are you sources?”

● Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Reid’s conduct was “beneath the dignity” of the Majority Leader’s office.

● RNC Chair Reince Priebus said, “I’m not going to respond to a dirty liar who hasn’t filed a single page of tax returns himself [and] complains about people with money but lives in the Ritz Carlton. . . . This is just a made-up issue.”

● Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell called the allegations “reckless and slanderous.”

● Sen. Lindsey Graham called Reid a liar and said, “I think he’s making things up.” He further said:
“I just cannot believe that the Majority Leader of the United States Senate would take the floor twice, make accusations that are absolutely unfounded, in my view, and quite frankly, making things up to divert the campaign away from the real issues.”
● George Will said, “This is McCarthyism from the desert.”
But it wasn’t just Republicans blasting Reid either. ABC News’s Jonathan Karl blasted Reid as well:
“It’s one of the most outrageous charges that I’ve ever seen actually made on the Senate floor. When Harry Reid comes to the floor of the Senate and makes this outrageous charge that has absolutely no evidence — I mean, Mitt Romney paid $3.1 million to the IRS in the one tax return that we’ve seen so far. He paid taxes. It’s a completely false charge.”
Even Jon Stewart blasted Harry for this one. He called Reid’s comment about Romney’s father a “bullshit shot” and said, “Harry Reid is a really, really terrible person.”

Frankly, it sounds like this was a mistake by Reid. When even the MSM and Jon Stewart are questioning his veracity and his integrity, all he’s really achieved is damaging his own already-sordid reputation even more.

Interestingly, Harry believes he’s scoring points because he thinks he’s keeping the Romney “tax return issue” alive in the mind of the public. And in accordance with that belief, the Democrats pushed this meme this weekend as well. But the public doesn’t care. This issue will win zero votes and Romney continues to play it well by refusing to play along. In fact, contrary to Reid’s beliefs, the only thing Reid’s attacks have done is to get the Republicans to stop whining about Romney not releasing his taxes. Thanks Harry. . . you bastard.

In any event, Reid has made a huge mistake here. Romney will win this election and I think these are the kinds of abusive moments which will keep Romney from seeing Reid as someone he can work with. And that would make Reid’s comments the perfect example of Democratic policies -- trading long term harm for no short term gain. Sounds like the Obama years.

Just to clarify. There are two famous Harrys. Dirty Harry is a fictional movie character who uses some unorthodox methods to put bad guys away. Filthy Harry is a real character who is the majority leader in the US Senate and a lying snake who probably belongs in jail with Dirty Harry's perps.

This is prime "fat jap" syndrome at play. What pisses me off the most are two things:

1) Reid is a scumbag of a politician. Prostitution and gambling is his currency. But it is the fact he is "Majority leader" of the senate.

2) The media won't take him to task for it. Everyone says it is underhanded a low ball politics, but then demands Romney take "the doubt" away. At least Bill Maher callled him out on it.

oops, I meant John Leibowitz as you correctly attributed. Even I have to admit his was a great piece.

This may have what I call, in Barney Stinson fashion, "The Rather Memogate Effect". You see, the Rather Memogate is where you have a candidate, let's call him President George Bush, and he is running for either office or re-election, in this case let's say re-election, and he has an issue raised regarding his past that is a bit of a liability for him, regardless of whether in reality it actually should be an issue.
For our hypothetical President George Bush, let's say it is questions regarding whether or not he received preferential treatment while he served in the National Guard. Now, this issue continues to be a problem for him until one day a reporter or news Anchor, let's assume it is a News Anchor and name him, I don't know, Dan Rather, does a story about his service using memos allegedly written by his Commanding Officer.
Now let's further assume, for the sake of hypothesis, that it quickly turns out these memos are about as real as Pamela Anderson's breasts. In fact, it is very quickly proven that they are not only fake, but obviously so. So obvious that the only reason the theoretical Anchor named Dan Rather and his theoretical producer missed them would be that they were (1) lazy, (2) eager to have a big story, or (3) so eager to trounce on the President that they released this story without checking (or thought people were too stupid to figure it out).
Now, when it turns out that the "Memos" have about as much validity as Jennifer Wilbanks' kidnapping claims the issue of the hypothetical President Bush's military record is now tainted by the fake memos and is now a dead issue. No one can use it anymore and the President now has a much easier path to re-election.

Of course, this is all hypothetical.

Andrew,

Something is happening, because there are some indications that the White House (Obama) is distancing Harry Reid. In fact, some are thinking it is time for Obama to throw Reid under the bus.

I think it is the false meme of pederasty and other items running around the internet that is causing Obama team to rethink it's attack.

I had no idea that Jon Stewart was a "henchman for Romney"!

Nancy believes Harry because he believes he's telling the truth! So back off! [She announced this while wearing something resembling a Civil War Confederate uniform]

Not only did Harry stand on the floor of the Senate as the Senate Majority Leader, so it appears to me that he has made it an official accusation. But, of course, with no evidence but his word and the word of some anonymous "investor" who will not be made public.

But here's my question to Harry that no one has asked yet - "How does this person who told Harry all of this know and where did they obtain this information?" If Harry DOES have proof, exactly how did he obtain it? Considering only the IRS and the Romneys should have access and copies of these private tax returns, then Harry's anonymous "investor" must have obtained this information illegally and therefore Harry has obtained this information illegally.

And if Harry doesn't have proof, well then he is a liar...an official Congressional liar on the record. So it boils down to this 0 Reid is either a liar or a thief. Or even worse.

Pick your poison, Sen. Reid.

AndrewPrice said...

Kit, I think that is the good news out of this. I don't think it's made the public one bit more concerned and at the same time it's causing Republicans to finally rally to the cause and stop whining.

1) Be offensive as possible.
2) Mock candidate's religion
3) If candidate is a man, make sexually-suggestive language about his wife. If the candidate is a woman, make sexually-suggestive comments about her*.
4) If he is rich accuse him of "hogging wealth" and accuse him of hating and looking down on "poor working-class folk" and if he is poor or from a working class background just call him "a dumb hick".
5) If the Republican candidate is black call him an "Uncle Tom", a "n----r", or anything worse. Just don't call a black Republican by his name. Call him a "n----r boy" or "house slave" but just Don't. Call. Him. By. His. Name. Calling him by his name might make him think he is your equal. Can't have that.
6) Rule 5 applies similarly to Hispanic Republicans, Indian-American Republicans, Gay Republicans, Asian-American Republicans, etc. Basically any member of a minority who is a Republican.
7) And remember, they are the bigoted, narrow-minded, racist, hateful conservatives while you are the kind, tolerant, nonjudgmental liberals.

P.S. Although that is a Biblical reference, I mean capital "T" truth in the sense of Philip K. Dick's definition of reality: "that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."

By the way, here's a question about the end of that quote: "His poor father must be so embarrassed about his son."

Um, why? I mean, assume for a moment any of the other crap is true; wasn't George Romney also a rich businessman who got involved in politics? And frankly, given the nature of the old-school Republican Party, isn't there a greater chance that he would be involved in crony capitalism than his son? I don't understand what version of reality this line originated from. But then I really don't understand what version of reality Harry Reid originated from, either.

Kit, I have no idea what an aristocrat joke would be.

AndrewPrice said...

Jen, I hope you like it.

AndrewPrice said...

Indi, The IRS is not supposed to be allowed to release that kind of information. But here's the thing, if he hadn't filed, he'd be in jail.

AndrewPrice said...

tryanmax, That's a pretty good definition of the truth actually. I may need to steal that at some point! :)

Yeah, this guy sounds like a putz who is angry at the world and who seems to have fallen for hero worship as a substitute for turning his life around. What a loser.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, He meant it very specifically. The liberal line has been that Romney Sr. created some sort of rule that you need to release 10/12 years of taxes (it depends on who is doing the telling). So now we're supposed to feel bad that young Romney has crapped on his father's legacy.

Only, there is no Romney rule. No one releases 10/12 years of taxes. And Harry just said it because Harry's looking for some way to bait Romney into taking shots at Harry rather than maintaining his focus on Obama.

Dirtbag's distractions. He reminds me of an old neighbor we used to have. Soft spoken, frail looking, wanted everyone to believe he wouldn't hurt a fly. What a weenie. You just didn't turn your back on him though.

AndrewPrice said...

Jen, I think that's been Harry's greatest asset. He comes across as meek and bland. Compare him to Pelosi who looks like she just stumbled drunk down an alleyway until she happened upon the microphone, and he seems quite reasonable. That's allowed him to be even more outrageous in his words.

Andrew Price,

An Aristocrat joke is a joke involving a family showing up a Talent Agent's office to audition a show that involves crude and disgusting acts such as incest, pedophilia coprophilia, bestiality, and, sometimes, necrophilia. The jokes is called "The Aristocrats" because at the end the talent agent, in shock, asks "What the hell do you call that act?" and the father replies, mistaking shock for enthusiasm, "The Aristocrats!"

Sometimes "The Aristocrats" is interchanged with "The Sophisticates".

It is very popular among comedians, reportedly being Johnny Carson's favorite joke. It achieved more popular fame when Gilbert Gottfried told the joke at Hugh Hefner's Comedy Central Roast.

Kit, That's right. I remember seeing a documentary or something about it. I actually thought it was a pretty weak idea.

Kit,

I think I saw the movie about that joke called The Aristocrats on HBO one night. I think I finished it by dint of shear will power or is it Canadian Whiskey? It's been so long ago.

AndrewPrice said...

Joel, That's where I saw it and I felt the same way. It sounded like a bunch of herd-mentality people trying to pretend they know something special that no one else does, when it really isn't at all interesting.

Kit said...

The doc was done by Penn and Teller. Never seen it, only heard about it.

Love their show, by the way. Don't agree with everything the say but, gosh darn it, their stuff on Organic Foods, Psychics, Astrology (a.k.a. stars--t), Mayan Prophecy, Cryptozoology, Carbon Credits, etc. is pure genius. Genius, man.

Actually Andrew there is a correction about Reid's statement. It is not illegal to not pay the IRS so long as you honesstly file your taxes and report your income.

The IRS will just assign penalties and interest and then go about the business of taking your money, your assets and then garnishing your income after that.

So even Reid's accusation is nonsense. If Romney did not file or pay his taxes he'd either be in jail, broke or both.

AndrewPrice said...

Indi, True. But it is illegal not to file if you own money, and they will come after you if you don't pay what you owe. So if Romney had not filed in 10 years, he would be in jail. if he just hadn't paid in 10 years, then the IRS would have seized his assets. Either way, we would know, and either way, Reid is lying.

And as ABC News pointed out, Romney paid more than $3 million in taxes in 2010, so even if we know nothing else, Reid has lied.

AndrewPrice said...

Kit, I haven't seen their show in a couple years, but I really enjoyed it. They made a lot of great points. I didn't always agree with them, but usually.

Left out "talking to the dead".

The part of the Organic foods episode where they had Norman Borlaug, who Penn called "the greatest man on Earth", was great and worth a view. (Mandatory NSFW warning)

The fact that he is not a household name is a high crime.

Hey, Adam Keiper has an idea, instead of having Earth Day let's make his birthday, March 25, "Civilization Day".

Kit, it's about time someone, anyone was sane enough to utter the name of Norman Borlaug.

I do agree, it should be criminal for schools to fail to include his name in testing cirricula.

Andrew, the interesting part is asking myself, where did the superstition of tax returns presented to the masses even so much as start? Why should I care when all those documents do is deliver to me the obvious? (a.k.a. the level of Romney's income and the fact that he paid it)? Either way, I hope Romney saves any additional returns for say the last minute, and dumps them in along with a tankerload of his own arguments to leave his opponents unable to really answer anything.

AndrewPrice said...

obiwan, I have no idea where this idea came from. Right now they are all linking it to Romney Sr., but I have my doubts. My guess is that this is something somebody used to taunt another candidate and that candidate fell for it.
