Obama Will Lose The Election

Obama is losing. He’s losing badly. I’ve been sensing this for some time, but now I’m ready to say it officially. Obama has lost this election. Here’s the proof.

The Polls: Polls this far out are unreliable. They are even less reliable because we can’t trust the pollsters. Most of the pollsters are using data which suggest a greater pro-Democratic turnout than Obama got in 2008, and many have begun hiding their raw data to prevent people like me from figuring out how badly they’ve skewed the data. But certain things are obvious because they run contrary to what the pollsters are trying to make you believe.
1) Romney has a small lead, even in these skewed polls. Factor out the pro-Obama bias and add in a pro-Romney enthusiasm gap and you’re looking at a landslide.
2) Romney has a statistically significant lead in the battleground states.
3) Several “safe” blue states have become battleground states, e.g. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Mexico.
4) Romney’s lead is consistent as is Obama’s inability to get anywhere near 50% approval.
This tells me Romney wins 53% to 47%.

Enthusiasm Gap: The polls show a huge enthusiasm gap – up to 13% in favor of the Republicans. This is significant because it would take a Democratic-leaning gap for Obama to win and that just won’t happen. But look beyond the polls. Romney and Ryan are speaking to massive crowds. Obama can’t fill a phone booth. Romney and Ryan are drawing massive amounts of money. Obama’s running debt. All over the country, people are putting up signs saying, “I built this.” By comparison, Obama bumper stickers have gotten really rare. People are going in droves to see a documentary exposing Obama, but no one has been interested in any pro-Obama crap for years now. This is something you can feel in the air, hear at the store, and see in random places online – people are enthusiastic about Romney, no one’s even thinking about Obama.

Democratic Desperation: The Democrats are hitting the bottom of the barrel in terms of how they are running this campaign. They’ve tried everything from various “wars on ___” to flat out slander. They’ve accused Romney of felonies, of hate, and of killing some guy’s wife. They’ve appealed to black-racism. They’ve tried to attack Mormonism as a cult. They’ve tried to scare Hispanics and round up illegals to vote. They’ve accused Republicans of anti-Semitism, of hating women, and of wanting to bring back slavery. The one thing none of them have done is actually mention an issue.

What this tells me is that they are desperate. These are not attacks someone makes if they are winning. This is scorched earth with no regard for the consequences or the future. This is a party that knows it will lose and doesn’t care what it does to the political landscape on the way out. Moreover, using these tactics now tells us they see the race as essentially lost right now and are desperate to turn it around before it becomes an obvious and settled fact.

Media Desperation: Like the Democrats, the MSM is desperate. We see this in several ways. First, despite 80% of their stories about Romney being negative, they have yet to find any attack which will stick. So they keep trying wilder and wilder attacks, which is a sign of desperation and a strategy guaranteed to backfire. Secondly, they avoid talking about Obama like the plague. This is because they know he’s so unpopular that they cannot help him by giving him coverage. Instead, they need to attack Romney.

Indeed, look at the lengths to which they go to talk about anything other than the issues. The Akin controversy is the perfect example of this. Everyone except the hard-core Religious Right have repudiated that troglodyte, yet the MSM continues to cover this incessantly and continues to try to connect Akin to every other Republican. Why do this? Because they have nothing else they can talk about.

Look also at the distortions. There is no mention of real inflation. Unemployment is downplayed. The failing economy is still called “a recovery.” There is no mention that gas prices are higher than they were under Bush, when the media blasted us with the-sky-is-falling stories about gas. Are American troops still dying overseas? The media won’t tell you. How is Obamacare working? Has anyone lost their health insurance? Are doctors still taking Medicare? Have medical costs gone down a single dollar? The media sure doesn’t know. How about too big to fail? Where are the reports about the biggest banks doubling in size under Obama? Did Copenhagen result in any positive change for the environment? Who knows. . . the MSM sure doesn’t.

This is proof the MSM knows Obama is in deep trouble and that they simply can't discuss anything without making it worse.

Obama has already lost this election and the items above prove it. The Democrats know he’s in such desperate trouble that they had to waste all their ammo already, and none of it scored a hit. That means Obama has lost. The MSM is desperate to cover up his tracks and knows they can’t promote him because people don’t like him. That means Obama can’t recover. And the public enthusiasm tells us what even the doctored polls are starting to suggest, the right will turn out in force in November and the left won't.

Barring something truly unusual, this election is over and the only question now is the margin of Romney’s victory.

Thoughts?

P.S. Don't forget, it is Star Trek Tuesday at the film site.

Nice article Andrew. I agree completely. I can feel the desperation whenever I see the MSM. They are struggling for something to use against Romney and they just can't find it, which is why they keep going back to this idea of him playing the race card -- which is a flat out lie.

Anonymous said...

Andrew: Your optimism is contagious. Even I'm beginning to believe that the chances are good that Romney will win and it won't be close. But my innate worry-wart gene still kicks in. I make it 269-269 in the electoral college and about even in the total vote count, with a slight edge to Obama. That is based on my unscientific math and absolutely no supporting facts. My optimistic side says Ohio and Florida are close, Romney leading. My pessimistic side says Colorado, Iowa and New Hampshire are close, but leaning Obama. I have no idea what to make of Wisconsin and Virginia, except that Romney has gained a lot of ground.

But the convention has only begun, Romney and Ryan will both smooth over a lot of the worries of Independents and moderates, and at the Democratic convention, the Democrats will try once again to prove that abject failure is success. At that point, I think I'll be a lot more optimistic. Media bias is ultimately going to work against the Dems. Wow--I think I just convinced myself that you're right!

T-Rav said...

Ha ha Obama! You're as doomed as that Doom movie was at the box office--uh, is that too soon?

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks DUQ! My crystal ball says... hell yeah!

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, No, it's never too soon to make fun of Doom... which stank so so badly. :(

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, Thanks! I agree. I think the MSM is struggling to find anything they can use and they just can't find anything.

And what's telling about that is that they should be trying to build up Obama, not attacking Romney. The fact they can't tell us that Obama will lose.

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, I've come to believe that conventions are only good if you have a real rock star and neither party has that at the moment. So instead, these conventions will simply annoy the voters. But since the public doesn't pay attention to the election yet, I think the Republicans are lucky that they will largely be ignored.

Not to mention that Obama has a huge handicap with his party, which really is a collection of idiots. And giving people like Biden, Pelosi and Reid national exposure will hurt him rather than help him.

It is getting more and more obvious that the true blue Obama fanatics, like Matthews, are getting more and more desperate. They know Obama is losing and they really do dread this Republican Convention and truly wish that Hurricane Issac had made the Republicans cancel this convention.

Anyone interested in watching the convention live, look up http://www.therightscoop.com. He has three feeds.

AndrewPrice said...

Joel, Matthews is losing his mind. He's blathering on and on from one attack to another. If he ever thought he was a journalist, he should be utterly ashamed at his own behavior. It's breathtaking to see his open, hateful advocacy.

You're right too about them wishing the Republicans would be killed by Isaac. There have been some interesting tweets I'm going to mention tomorrow.

I think you're right. Obama will loose the election. And the left will be hoisted on their own petard.

Romney/Ryan offers genuine hope to recover America from the brink (and yes, I think we're there). Obama will drive the nation down farther and farther with that goofy smile on his face, and the liberal imps urging him on.

Anonymous said...

Andrew: Oddly, I'm a bit more optimistic about the effect of the convention than you. Not the platform, for God's sake, or most of the speakers. But I do think that if enough undecideds see Romney, Ryan and Ann Romney, there will actually be a bump. Ryan could be a superstar, and Romney can finally appear to the nation at large as a decent, hard-working, honest and, yes, likeable guy.

AndrewPrice said...

LL, I agree. I simply can't see Obama winning the election unless there is something HUGE and unknown on the horizon and I just don't see it.

I think all the evidence -- from everyone's reactions to poll numbers to where the money is going -- tells us that Obama simply can't find support whereas Romney's got a solid, energized base ready to toss Obama out.

T-Rav said...

Okay, I'm just going to say this about Isaac--can we PLEASE knock off the wall-to-wall coverage?? Yes, I understand no one wants a repeat of what led up to Katrina and all, and you should take precautions and all, but for God's sake, the thing only became a hurricane like three hours ago! I've seen straight-line winds that pack a harder punch. Do we really need to have a special statement from Obama, and for the RNC to postpone the convention, and for the news to be talking about once every 20 minutes? I know, I know, I'm a terrible person for taking this so lightly and need to care more.

EricP said...

Part of me wants to shout this column from every rooftop and corner of cyberspace, but I hate letting the opposition know we're onto them, thereby allowing them to somehow steer their ship back on course. Then I realize their ship has no rudder anymore, so what the heck? At minimum, sharing with my Obama arrogant buddy Eli. Hmmmm, maybe I will take him up on that $100 bet.

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, That's true. Romney, Ryan and particularly Ann Romney should really impress the public. They are decent, passionate, and smart. They aren't scary. To the contrary, they are reassuring.

In fact, I can't help but notice the Democrats have already given up on attacking Ryan over Medicare because it backfired -- people liked his plan and the fact he was smart enough to have a plan!

T-Rav said...

On a more related note, I agree about the polls. Even if you didn't know about the internal demographics of these things, it's obvious that they've been drifting Romney's way for quite some time. Even with extremely skewed polls, he keeps closing the gap or drawing even.

I think this is proof of a clear momentum shift since the announcement of Ryan as VP. After a period of uncertainty this summer, things have been consistently going the GOP's way, and barring a major accident, I think it will continue to do so. (crosses fingers)

Joel Farnham said...

Andrew,

There is a good reason to listen to the Convention. You can note down who designed that monstrosity of a platform. They are all breaking their own arms patting their backs, giving lame speeches worthy of high school runner ups.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, Sadly, that's how our media works -- they hype something to death and then keep on hyping it until people are ready to storm the studio to make them stop. My advice would be to stop watching the news until Isaac passes.

As for needing to care more... uh, no. There's no reason to care more.

AndrewPrice said...

Eric, LOL! Take the bet!! And I love the idea of cyberspace having rooftops! :)

Frankly, I think the evidence is all there that this election is over and all that's left is the vote margin. We know it. The left knows it. Obama knows it. And that's why we're seeing what we're seeing from them.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, I agree. I think this is all on Ryan. I think Ryan has excited conservatives, pleased moderates and frustrated liberals. I think the selection reflects really well on Romney that his first decision was such a home run and that he's not afraid to grab the most talented guy available.

I also think the Democrats completely misplayed his selection by trying to smear him first and then attack him on Medicare. The smears seemed desperate and made anything that came after suspect. Then the Medicare attack blew up on them when people pointed out how Obama tried to slash Medicare and how Ryan is the only guy in DC smart enough to have a plan.

Since Ryan, everything has been moving in one direction. I don't see that changing.

AndrewPrice said...

Joel, That's a good point. I know some of the names already. I've seen a couple of them writing how this is "the greatest platform ever" and they have no clue what's wrong with it.

Notawonk said...

From your keyboard to God's eyes. while I *want* to believe, i am still cautiously optimistic.

DUQ said...

T-Rav, I'm sick of the hurricane coverage too. Call me when it actually does something other than water the plants.

T-Rav said...

By the way, in more good news, two polls in the past few days have shown a three-point lead for the GOP Senate candidate in Connecticut. Before anyone gets excited, I personally don't believe this will happen; we got disappointed there last time and I just don't think the state's purple enough to allow this to happen. But--if more polls roll in to corroborate this, then I may actually donate to that race. If Connecticut can in fact offset my poor state, that would be extremely sweet.

Kelly said...

Man I hope you're right!

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, I saw that. How amazing is that, that Obama is only 7% ahead in Connecticut, a state he won by 28% in 2008, AND that the Republican candidate for Senate is actually ahead!!!

If McMahon wins, I will be floored.

AndrewPrice said...

Kelly, The signs are all there and I see no evidence of them changing.

Ed said...

That's wild news about Connecticut and just adds more prood that Obama is in real trouble. I honestly can't see Obama winning anymore.

EricP said...

>>I think Ryan has excited conservatives, pleased moderates and frustrated liberals.>>

I was a guest on a friend's online radio a couple nights ago (http://radiotitans.com/shows/the-koz-effect -- Episode 9), and as the only right-leaning guest (host is righty, but plays a gracious devil's advocate for the sake of his lefty guests), found it sadly interesting how often the other guests resorted to the typical leftist cliches. I would have pushed back a little harder, especially with how nervous the Ryan selection makes the left, but in addition to getting my radio lips sturdy after an almost 9-month layoff, wanted to play moderately nice on my debut appearance on my friend's show.

He'd like me back on in a couple weeks, though, Andrew, so will be nice to include his show as one of those cyberspace rooftops to tout info from this column (and the many tasty treats sure to follow before 9/9).

T-Rav said...

DUQ, I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks so. Frankly, as dry as things are around here, I think not having a hurricane would almost be more of a natural disaster than having one. Only there's less obvious destruction, so the media won't see it that way.

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, That is exactly the kind of thing which just reconfirms my suspicions every single day that this race is over. Don't get me wrong, the polls will remain tight and places like Connecticut are safe for Obama, but he's going to lose.

AndrewPrice said...

Eric, Best of luck to your friend and with your next appearance! I find it amazing how little the left has to offer this time. All they seem to be able to do is toss out the usual generic smears. They have no record they can run on, no policies they want to tell us about, no promises they want to make, and nothing real to scare us with about the Republicans. They literally are reduced to name calling.

That's proof enough they're finished. Not to mention, it tells us that they have no plan for how to reverse this.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav and DUQ, I agree with you. It's one thing to point out the danger so people know to flee. It's another to pound these issues how in the most sensationalist manner just to get ratings.

AndrewPrice said...

K, Don't worry, I never get cocky, but I can't see this election going the other way at this point. Not only is everything going against them, but they clearly have no idea how to dig themselves out of this hole.

And yeah, watching Arron Sorkin crying would be a pretty good feeling. :)

Libertarian Advocate said...

Andrew: As of August 22, McMahon leads her Democrat rival Murphy by 3 point. There's a lot of anger at Obama and Democrats generally here in CT. Republican enthusiasm outpaces Democrat enthusiasm significantly. Locally, yet another senior state Democrat Pol was arrested on federal corruption charges. Dannel Malloy, who self-identifies as a "proggy" earlier this summer pushed through a huge tax increase, and looks to be gunning for more revenues from the Golden Geese of Fairfield County. I see VERY few Obama 2012 stickers today, whereas in 2012, they were EVERYWHERE but on my cars.

I had earlier thought it would be safe for me to vote for Gary Johnson as a protest vote to the go-along, get along RINO establishmentistas, but the numbers could be exceedingly close come Nov 6, (Note to Democrats: you all vote Nov 7th... JK) possibly even a slim victory margin for Romney, such that a Johnson vote might now be misguided. I'll be paying close attention.

Libertarian Advocate said...

Oh... I forgot, FWIW: I heard part of Obama's Hurricane Isaac briefing this morning. His voice tone makes me think he's incredibly depressed. Its hard to hide that, even with the best training.

AndrewPrice said...

Libertarian Advocate, I would be thrilled if McMahon or Romney pulled it out. I still have a hard time seeing that happening in a place like Connecticut, but it would be incredible if it did.

And if it does, especially if Romney wins, then we could be looking at a Reagan-sized landslide for Romney. These are interesting times when Obama isn't safe even in the safest of blue states!

It's no wonder Obama looks so grumpy!

AndrewPrice said...

On Obama's tone of voice, I hear anger and depression. I've been getting that for some time now. I think he knows he's finished and I suspect he's not getting a lot of support from his friends and allies. I have nothing scientific to back that up, but it's what I'm hearing in his voice and seeing in his expressions. He is not a happy man.

rlaWTX said...

So, Andrew, tell us how you really feel!
I'm with Patti on the cautious optimism, but deep inside there is a part of me practicing a jig for November...

USS Ben USN (Ret) said...

Superb post, Andrew!

I concur! Some folks have been skeptical when I say Romney will win in the biggest landslide since Reagan crushed Carter, but the proof is in the pudding.

It's not what the MSM and democrats are saying, but what they aren't saying. They are avoiding the real issues that concern most voters like the plague, and they won't list Obama's accomplishments to show how great he supposedly is.

Some of the hardcore lefties do that, but no one is taking them seriously including many on the left.

What's funny to watch is the meltdown of the leg tingler and all those who were worshipping Obama just 4 years ago.

They don't realize their rants and accusations that millions of Americans are racist because they don't agree with Obama are actually helping Romney.

Moderates will also turn out in droves...to vote for Mitt. :^)

rlaWTX said...

Libertarian Advocate & Andrew, y'all get extra points for actually listening to TOTUS long enough, and often enough, to hear a difference in his voice!

AndrewPrice said...

rlaWTX, Practicing a jig! LOL! I'm more than cautiously optimistic at this point because I think the Democrats don't have a sense of how to reverse this. In fact, I don't see them having the slightest clue how to fix this. Instead, they just keep doing more of the same and that is just making things worse. :)

AndrewPrice said...

Ben, Thanks! And I concur! The proof isn't in what the MSM is saying so much as it is in what they aren't saying. They are not putting up any defense of Obama at all. Instead, they are spending their time trying to attack Romney or Ryan and even then they don't have a decent plan of attack -- just more of the same stuff which has already been proven not to work. Seriously, does anyone care about Bain? No.

I think the near-hysteria too in people like Matthews is another telltale sign. If he had the slightest hope for Obama, he would be pushing that hope. Instead, he's just getting shrill and screaming racism or whatever other name-calling he can think of.

It's all a sign of desperation, and desperation means failure is imminent.

AndrewPrice said...

rlaWTX, It's not easy! LOL! Seriously, I see it/hear it in him every time he speaks. His tone is depressed and angry. He gets snippy at the drop of a hat. He's defensive. His nastiness borders on irrational. And I haven't heard him say anything in a normal voice in two years now. He's a man on the edge.

rlaWTX said...

Andrew, I guess I'm just afraid of [1] an October wag the dog event and [2] the everloving stupidity of the uninformed voter.

We deserve a jig, at the very least, after the pit of despair that we dropped into 11/2008...

AndrewPrice said...

rlaWTX, I'm actually not worried about an October surprise because Obama hasn't gotten a bounce out of anything for more than two years now. So anything they arrange strikes me as more likely to hurt him than to help him.

The stupidity of the uninformed voter will be a problem. Yeah.

And yes, we deserve a mighty jig at this point! Maybe even a tango! :)

Deluded is right and I can't wait for him to be out of office. Then the country can start moving in the right direction again!

T-Rav said...

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, I can't either. Ryan is going to make Biden look like a total fool.

Of course, I suspect Romney will do the same to TOTUS too.

This weekend there was an article about how Obama is planning on the debating turning things around. Good luck!

T-Rav said...

Andrew, I don't know if it's demoralization so much as the need to prioritize resources, putting all available funds into those key swing states. You know, like Michigan and Pennsylvania and New Mexico....

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, LOL! "swing states" indeed... just like Connecticut.

But seriously, the lack of bumperstickers show the public isn't engaged. That's a very, very bad sign for Obama since turnout is key.

StanH said...

I believe Elmer Fudd could beat Barry. Instead we have a highly competent team in Romney/Ryan who can indeed fix this country. I’m as excited as 1980 when we had the opportunity to fire the Peanut (Jimmy Carter). Reagan beat Carter 46 to 4, I don’t think we’ll do quite that well this time, Romney beats Barry 41 to 9, 56% to 44%. But it’s imperative that we do not become over confident and vote, and vote for a decade of elections. If Romney leads from the front, using conservative principles maybe in 2016 he matches the great Reagan and wins 49 to 1.

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, I think this race was always about Obama and not the challenger, unless we picked the wrong challenger -- Ron Paul, Rick Santorum. We got lucky that we got a team that is highly competent (more competent than I've seen in decades) and I think they will win this election easily and will govern incredibly well.

I don't think it will be 46/4 sadly because of demographics, but I think it will be much bigger than people think. And I think 56% to 44% is very likely.

ellenB said...

T-Rav said...

Well, I thought Christie and Ann Romney did pretty good--Ann started off a bit stilted but got into the swing of it over time, and Christie was good throughout, though he talked a bit too much about himself. AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Yep, I'm the 1% of DVR users. ;)

Nope, you're not alone. I won't listen to him either. Please tell me they didn't put him in prime time?

BevfromNYC said...

Oh, Andrew, OF COURSE he was in Primetime...would the MSM miss a chance to go to Crazytown? Well, okay, I didn't listen to him, so maybe he wasn't the Mayor of C-town tonight...

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I can't believe they let him speak in prime time. They should have given him the 4:00 am slot.

As for him not being the Mayor of C-town, when hasn't he been the Mayor of C-town? The man is a rotten nut job.

Did I step into a time machine or something? Is this one of the comment threads from February?

Hey, do you think I'm going to make fresh time every single day? No. Of course, I reuse time. Hence some days repeat.

I remember that in 2008 "everyone" agreed that polls were biased. In the end they turned out to be fairly accurate. Is it really different this time? What has changed?

AndrewPrice said...

El Gordo, I think the claims in 2008 were wishful thinking. I never saw any evidence that they were biased. This time, however, I can point to exactly how and why they are biased.

LOL - I skipped Santorum too... I liked SC's gov and Ann R and even Christie.

congrats, tryanmax, for the RNC slot! :)

I'm not a fan of Christie but he did deliver a good speech.

Ann Romney will make a superb First Lady!

I was very impressed with Artur Davis, the former Alabama democrat!
Man, the donks drove away a brilliant man (brilliancy is very rare in donk land).
Their loss is our gain!

Oh, and Mia Love was good too! Another former democrat. Thanks democrats! LOL!

Ben, I'm all for converts. :)

I am noticing that the progs in the MSM and Talk show set are vbesseching us with Polls about the black vote and jokes about how the black republicans are all alone.

Seems to me that Shakespeare applies here....

"I think she doth protest to much"

I think they must have some data showing that the enthusiasm among black voters is way down otherwise why bother with this... just musing

were it not for the fact I am superstitious, and don't want to junk us, I would wholeheartedly agree with the reasoning.
