From Rep. McClintock to Presidente Calderon with Love...

On May 20th, Mexican President Felipe Calderon spent his day as a distinquished guest of the American people. A typical state dinner was given in his honor complete with attempted party crashers at the Whitehouse and he was granted the rare honor to speak before a joint session of Congress. And speak he did. I won't bore you with the video of Calderon mainly because it may cause irreparable harm to LawHawk, but CBSNews.com reported:
"Calderon received his longest round of applause when he spoke in Spanish, addressing Mexican migrants in the U.S. and telling them that Mexico admires them, misses them, and is fighting hard for their rights and their families.
Calderon also won sustained applause when he said, "I strongly disagree with the recently adopted law in Arizona. It is a law that not only ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree, but also introduced a terrible idea using racial profiling for law enforcement."
What CBSNews.com did not report was that he received a sustained standing ovation (Warning for LawHawk!) from our left-leaning Congresscritters when he denounced the new Arizona laws.  No one seemed to think anything was wrong with that.  But I do.  And finally Rep. Tom McClintock (R/CA) went on the record to give Calderon a slapdown:

Thank you, Congressman. It is good to know that at least one elected official in Congress supports the American people.

Good for McClintock. Calderon has no business coming to our country and telling us how to run our country. In fact, if we're going to play that game, how about (1) stop the drug gangs, (2) stop the corruption, (3) introduce free market economics, (4) introduce rational criminal laws and constitutional rights, and (5) take back the people you've driven out of your country. Then we'll talk.

As for the Democrats, they need to learn to shut the heck up, but I think it's too late. They want to ally themselves with foreign governments and foreign political parties, then we should treat them accordingly and deport the whole lot of them. Heck, I'll even let every illegal alien stay here so long as we start deporting Democrats.

Andrew, it's insane! Not only do we have our President who will go to a foreign country and criticize us. But now we have Obama and Congress inviting leaders from foreign countries to come HERE and critcize us in our own House!? It's insane? What other leader of any country would do that or allow it?

And I think you are on to something though. Deport Congress.

Andrew: Now you know why I admire Tom McClintock. Even when he was my Republican Representative in Ventura County when I was still a lefty Democrat, I thought very highly of him.

The MSM and even some of the better conservative commentators seem to be granting that a foreign president should be able to speak freely. None of them seem to get the idea. That's fine for him at home. That's fine for him making a speech here to his compadres in East L.A. That's fine for him when he's speaking openly to the president in the White House.

But only the coarsest and most depraved of guests walks into the well of the United States Congress and proceeds to announce what he thinks American law ought to be. Not only is it a major breach of diplomatic decorum, it is insulting, and it is plain damned rude. Calderon, like Obama, has a carefully polished facade which completely distorts the dishonest street thug and ignoramus underneath. They both have the manners of a hobo who has been invited to dinner with civilized people.

Calderon should be immediately declared an undesirable alien, and deported forthwith. Furthermore, he should be required to take every damned fool Congressional representative who gave him a standing ovation with him. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Lawhawk, I'll pay to rent the truck if Calderone takes Congress with him!

Yeah, I can definitely see why you admire McClintock!

BevfromNYC said...

Andrew, I'll split the cost with you.

Viva McClintock!

I think that Rep. King also denounced Calderon's lecture. I wish more of our representatives would have the cajones (ha ha...I crack myself up) to publicly denounce this insult.

AndrewPrice said...

Tam, I more of our representatives had that kind of nerve, we would be a much better country.

Bev, We could run one heck of a telethon if the goal was to raise enough money to deport Congress. We could probably pay off the national debt.

Bev: Thanks for the video. It made me feel at home seeing Tom McClintock again. I had almost forgotten what a principled statesman he is. Particularly after twenty years of Pelosi, Boxer and Feinstein.

BevfromNYC said...

Andrew! I was just thinking Telethon too!

LawHawk: My pleasure. When I saw the video, I knew you had to see it. A friend at work punked me on Friday. I asked him what he was doing and said he was just watching Obama scold Calderon. Imagine my disappointment when it wasn't true! Then this morning I saw McClintock. It restored my faith.

Tam: Is that Pete King in NY? I am loving him more and more. He certainly is saying like it is these days. Unfortunately he decided not to run against Gillibrand or Schumer.

Tam said...

I think it was Steve King of Iowa.

BevfromNYC said...

Thanks Tam. I listened to Rep. King's video. I applaud his statesmanship and I was interested to hear that Holder was the one who lead the standing O! That makes two elected officials who spoke up.

Anybody else? Bueller? Bueller?

BevfromNYC said...

Tam: I just looked further. King is the one who put Holder in the hot seat about not reading the Arizona law! I am liking all the Kings in Congress now!

What was more surprising was the there weren't more elected officials, regardless of party, who were as outraged as McClintock. I can think of two such wimpy senators in my own state of Arizona. McCain, as an example, is too busy puffing into cameras about his meaningless 12-point Action Plan that is too little, too late. What a windbag. Why didn't more Republicans speak up? If they have, I haven't heard them.

This is the time for real leadership and we get so little of it. That's what's disturbing.

As an aside, there are more outraged Hispanics in Arizona than you might think. Many support Brewer and the Arizona bill. Unfortunately, you only hear about the lunatic fringe that follows the likes of that loser Sharpton, et al.

WX, I have been scouring the internet for any evidence other than McClintock and King denounced Calderon. All I get back are the sounds of crickets.

Not only that, but ODL stood side by side with Calderon in the Rose Garden at the Whitehouse on Thursday to denounce Arizona's law
From NYT -
"The Arizona law was “a misdirected expression of frustration over our broken immigration system,” Mr. Obama said. “We’re examining any implications, especially for civil rights, because in the United States of America, no law-abiding person, be they an American citizen, a legal immigrant, or a visitor or tourist from Mexico, should ever be subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like.”

For the record, I carry my US passport with me at all time. If any police officer wants to see it, I will gladly show it to them. I've already had to use it on the lawn of the US Capitol in DC against Capital cops.

Bev,

I hear you. Where is Boehner? Where is McConnel? Where is Bachman?

Is McClintock the only one who doesn't like what Calderon said?

Pundits are all over this. Unfortunately our so-called Republican leaders are absent.

BevfromNYC said...

Joel: And the cheeses stand alone...{{crickets}}

But Obama gave the address at WestPoint letting our West Pointers know that there's a
"new International order". AAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Joel Farnham said...

Bev,

One thing I did notice is that the West Point Cadets weren't enthusiastic about Obama. To their credit, they listened politely to him.

Obama is delusional. No doubts about it.

Bev,

We sit here and wonder how Calderon can think he has the right to come to this country and talk down to us yet I think it is quite obvious.

Obama asked him to do it. This whole thing is a political stunt to keep these "Arizona" protests alive so that the media has something esle to talk about other than the Tea Parties.

What I really loved was his blaming the violence in Mexico on our Second Ammendment. Right because at any Army Navy Store in South Texas one can buy a Mexican Military Helicopter for your drug trafficking needs.

The whole this is a crock. I'd be laughing it the joke was not on me, you and the rest of the American people.

BevfromNYC said...

Indy - That's very interesting. Of course nobody would have let Calderon speak if they didn't know what he was going to say. We should have known it by the brecelets that Baca handed out what they were up to. Who better to represent the undocumented than the one who forced them to leave. Now if Congress could just pay it forward to Hugo, Fidel, Kim and Mahmoud and condemn what they do their own people that would be good, but they won't...

It just keeps getting worse and worse with each passing day...
