Politicized Justice

The United States is free and stable because we depoliticized the most dangerous parts of our government: the power to tax, the power to police and make war, and the legal system. The power to tax is the power to destroy. The power to police and make war is the power to kill. And the legal system controls every other aspect of our lives. If you control the legal system, then there are no rights, only privileges given at the whim of our masters. The Democrats are trying to undo this, as shown by the Gibson Guitar case.

It took our country a long time to depoliticize much of our government. Until the 1930s, both the army and the federal bureaucracy were considered spoils to be exploited by the political victors, and they would appoint their supporters to government jobs or give them military commissions. Changing this was a monumental achievement. Unfortunately, in the past 20 years, the Democrats have worked hard to re-politicize these government functions.

Clinton took the first big steps in this regard, when he sent the IRS after churches because they were seen as supporters of Republicans -- the Republicans never counter-attacked, despite the fact that so many leftist groups are hiding behind non-profit labels, which cannot by law be partisan. Clinton’s Justice Department's Civil Rights Division spent its time doing the bidding of feminists, while its Antitrust Division went after the competitors of campaign donors and ignored F.O.Bs (Friends of Bill) like the nation’s colleges, which conspire to fix prices. At the same time, Justice struggled mightily to blind itself to all of Clinton’s illegal Chinese donors, some of whom apparently had ties to Chinese Intelligence, e.g. John Huang, Charlie Trie, Johnny Chung and Maria Hsia.

Under Holder, the Civil Right Division has become an agent of black racism. This was shown by testimony from Justice Department employees, who confirmed that Justice only sees the nation’s civil rights laws as protecting blacks from whites and not the reverse. Of course, you could also have seen this from the way Justice subverted any investigation into voter intimidation by blacks, e.g. the Black Panther case. Justice couldn’t even be bothered to examine ACORN, which was caught red-handed, and it continues to attack any attempt to require minorities to show voter identification.

Holder also sued Arizona, on behalf of Obama’s illegal alien friends, to stop Arizona from enforcing the very laws the Justice Department is sworn to uphold. And we understand INS has all but stopped deporting illegal aliens.

Holder also stopped defending the Defense of Marriage Act, as a sop to Obama’s gay supporters.

In Operation Fast and Furious, we see the Justice Department’s ATF allowing the sale of guns to criminals in the hopes of generating political data to be used to support gun control advocates.

Meanwhile, Holder has been pursuing peaceful pro-lifers who march outside clinics, while refusing to investigate union thugs beating people up at townhall meetings or intimidating employers or acting like racketeers against private companies or making death threats to Republican legislators in Wisconsin.

And now we have the Gibson Guitar case.

To make its guitars, Gibson imports rosewood from India and Madagascar. The wood it imports is certified for export by both countries as being from sustainable sources. That makes it legal for import into the United States.

But the Justice Department just swooped in and seized over a million dollars in wood and equipment from Gibson. What was Justice’s reasoning? No one knows. They won’t tell Gibson. This is a complete violation of our Constitution, which requires that you be informed of the charges against you and that you be given an opportunity to defend yourself. It is also an obscenity because if Justice won’t tell Gibson why it has done this, then the only reasonable answer is intimidation. People need to be fired for this!

And it gets worse. It turns out that Gibson is a well-known Republican contributor. Its primary competitor, C.F. Martin & Company, is a well-known Democratic contributor. Martin gets its wood from the exact same sources as Gibson. Yet, Holder’s Justice Department has not raided Martin. . . it only hassles Gibson. It would be stupid to think this wasn’t politically motivated. The message is clear: this is an attempt to intimidate Republican business to keep them out of politics.

So what do we do about Obama/Holder deeply politicizing the Justice Department? The usual Republican response would be to swear that we will put a stop to this. Then we act scared as soon as the Democrats accuse us of interfering with Justice. Let me suggest a smarter way to handle this: fight fire with fire.

Appoint a seasoned political operative to lead the Justice Department. This person’s job will be to focus the Justice Department on unions, race lobbyists, and fake non-profits that are really hidden Democratic support organizations. Start investigating George Soros for any number of his crimes, real or suggested. Target groups like the New York Times, in retaliation for Holder’s political attacks on News Corp. Use the full resources of the United States to tie up and pursue these organizations.

This may make Republicans queasy, but this is the only way the Democrats will ever stop politicizing parts of the government. So long as they can keep doing this and the only Republican response is to promise not to do it themselves, they will keep doing this. Only by teaching the Democrats that there are consequences, i.e. that we can take the weapons they create and use them to much greater effect will the Democrats begin to respect the non-partisan nature of government. There must be consequences. And if some Democrats end up in jail in the meantime. . . that's just too bad for them.

Andrew - if you want a good laugh, checkout iowahwk's take on this. Unfortunately, the underlying issues are no laughing matter.

Part of the problem, I think, is while the bogosphere along with Fox News and talk radio have helped, we still have the portion of the media doing "investigative journalism" being overwhelmingly liberal. Thus, they are extremely selective over what they choose to investigate. So often, we seem left with an "almost got them" scenario.

If I look back at some of your examples, I get the feeling the perps were never held accountable. Al Gore was a bag man for Chinese political contributors, but we never quite got the goods. Instead, he is a fat, philandering, nobel and oscar winning turd who goes around boinking groupies.

Even with Fast & Furious, we just know Holder and Obama knew, but I wonder if we'll ever get a movie with Halbrook secretly meeting with Bob Redford in a tilt up concrete urban garage whispering "of course Holder knew." Instead, those who are not political junkies will hear some lefty spout "both sides do it. Look at Nixon's enemies list.

Good article. I love my Martin, but there is a definite political bent to this. It gets ignored by the lame streams.

Fortunately, from what I've heard, the owner of Gibson says he has no intention of knuckling under to the feds on this matter, and may file a lawsuit against them. Actually, I think he was already involved in a lawsuit against some agency for something a couple years ago, which may have contributed to the present incident. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

And re Jed's remark, the day Robert Redford gets involved in a journalistic investigation of the Obama WH is the day pigs fly.

AndrewPrice said...

Jed, Accountability is the real problem. As you note, the MSM continues to ignore liberal scandals until and unless someone actually gets arrested. If that happens, then they cover it like it was some rogue operation and act surprised that it happened.

But with Republican administrations, they lead the charge and investigate everyone involved and then some and they report rumor as true until prove otherwise.... and even then.

Also, that's the problem with Republican law enforcement. The Dems have no qualms about holding 100 hearings in Congress, appointing special prosecutors and pursuing Republicans through the Justice Department.... the Republicans don't want to "politicize" justice and "wait for law enforcement to handle the situation."

It's Lucy and the football over and over and over and over.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, Retaliation by the government against anyone who dares to stand up to them is common -- especially with the IRS.

The problem with fighting them (which is great that he's doing it) is that it will cost him a fortune he never should have had to spend just to get the same rights enjoyed by others.

Great point about Redford. I wonder what investigative journalists do with their time during Democratic administrations?

Jed, Here's the Iowahawk story and it's hilarious... it combines the Gibson story with Fast and Furious!

Andrew: This is the most lawless Department of Justice in my lifetime. It is also the most highly-politicized. During the Bush administration, at least a couple dozen liberals were appointed to career positions with the DOJ. During the Obama administration, not a single conservative has been appointed. Of the eighteen hired in the past year, every single one was a liberal/radical activist. Since the beginning of the administration, the Civil Rights Division has hired ninety attorneys, and not a single conservative. All were members of far-left groups like the Queer Resistance Front, the Intersex Society of North America, and People for the American Way. They've published articles in legal journals like "Genital Normalizing Surgery on Intersexed Infants." The Voting Rights Sections is equally skewed.

Selective enforcement of the law is the hallmark of the Holder Justice Department. And if they have to break a few laws of their own to accomplish their goal, well, gee. I too want to see some of these people go to jail after we toss them out of the government and restore the rule of law.

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, That's absolutely true, and it's despicable. Everyone knows the US Attorneys themselves are political creatures, but the underlings are supposed to be competent attorneys first, foremost and only. Those are not considered political positions. Yet, Obama/Holder has done nothing but hire leftists to fill their ranks.

And naturally, this doesn't bother the Democrats... the same Democrats who squealed like commie pigs when they thought Bush may have used political considerations when hiring people for the political positions -- which he, of course didn't because that's not the way he thought.

This is despicable and Justice needs to be cleaned out by the next Republican administration.

Ed said...

Andrew, Nice breakdown of the problems we face with the Justice Department. It sounds like our government needs to be purged of all things Obama -- from his regulations to the people he hired.

Ed said...

Also, did you see what that jerkoff Andre Carson said about the Tea Party "wanting blackas hanging from the trees"? This pisses me off so much. These creatures are spreading a message of hate.

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Ed, A purge will absolutely be necessary. The next Republican President needs to rescind all of Obama's executive orders and all of the regulations he's promulgated. Then they need to fire all the political appointees and replace them with people who are willing to drive out and replace all of the hires Obama made (though without saying so). Pure and simple. And they can't lose their nerve when the Democrats scream bloody murder.

The next Republican White House needs to be political. It cannot be a go along to get along type.

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, The "racism" stuff is both tiring and infuriating. It's clear that the word "racism" no longer has any legitimate meaning in the country and simply means something blacks are complaining about.

But even by that standard, the recent attacks on the Tea Party have been despicable. The fact that the Democrats have not apologized tells you all you need to know about them too.

Here's a link to the Carson story. LINK

Andrew, This one is really pissing me off. I am sick of these bastards calling me racist and never being punished for it. They are the damn racists. They are the ones trying to keep their mindless shitty followers in line by scaring them. They are making this up and slandering good people to protect their corrupt asses.

I'm sorry about the swearing, but that's really how I feel about this. I'm mad as hell and I'm sick of them getting away with it.

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, I get your point, but there's nothing you can do about it. No one believes these people anyways except their followers, who are too stupid to know handle the truth. The rest of the public just rolls their eyes. Black leaders in this country have become like everyone's crazy, drunken uncle who wants to repeat stories at parties that no one believes. You just walk away from them and let them fester on their own.

DUQ said...

Did anyone hear that Obama is trying to have his "jobs" speech the same night as the Republlcan debate. What an ass!

Rush had a great point, somehow Obama can't wait another day to give this speech, but he could wait until after his vacation.

AndrewPrice said...

DUQ, I heard he also wants to address a joint session of Congress. Boehner should accept the invite and then the Republicans should blow him off to attend the debate.... leaving him talking to an empty chamber.

Koshcat said...

Generally, I hate them but if there was ever an administration that needed an independent investigator, it is this one. It would seem with the Fast and Furious alone would call for it. Why hasn't that been used yet? Just the digging around alone might make them mind their p's and q's.

AndrewPrice said...

koshcat, I agree. Generally, I thought the independent counsel law was an unconstitutional attempt to misuse government police powers to engage in witch hunts.

But as we see with Obama, when the crooks run the White House, there is no other way to get their crimes looked at. And you know that if the next President starts those kinds of investigations after the election, the media will scream witch hunt and the squishy Republicans will all panic and defend Obama.

So I guess, the answer is we need an independent counsel law.

rlaWTX said...

I have to admit that I was hoping (when I read this on BH) that it was pundits making a big deal out of nothing... but the more I hear, the more it seems like a legit big deal. I think that this is one of those days I hate the government. And I am joining LawHawk's "I Hate Obama" Club.

Andrew: doncha hate it when we need something you don't want to need...

AndrewPrice said...

rlaWTX, I ignored it too at first. It struck me as one of those "who knows what's really going on" situations. But the more that has come out, the more it seems to be exactly what people feared.

And truthfully, even if it isn't, the mere fact that we have so little faith in the Justice Department that we would think this is likely tells me that our government is in serious, serious trouble. Governments that lose their legitimacy, lose their lives.

On the independent counsel law, yeah, it stinks when you realize that you need something you really don't want. But life is full of moments like that and the best we can do is accept the fact and try to find a better way to make sure the power isn't abused.

Koshcat said...

Maybe Gibson can just get his congressman to represent...oops, sorry. Congressman Steve Cohen is a "progressive" Democrat.

Iowahawk is hilarious.

We also need to get republicans with a spine to get rid of laws such as the Lacey act. Shows you what good jumping through hoops and being certified will get you. According to Wikipedia, they were certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Love the story that, if the allegations are true, then Michelle Obama illegally gave one of their guitars to the French first lady. Any bets Holder will go after her for trafficking in illegal products? They have already set the precedence that you don't have to knowingly break the law to be charged with a crime.

AndrewPrice said...

Koshcat, Now you know that Democrats are allowed to break laws because they have good intentions. Laws are only suggestions for them. Hence, no one will ever go after Madame O for a mere violation of law.

Yeah, I don't think Cohen will be much help.

I like Iowahawk a lot. And I thought this one was brilliant. I love the bit about a battle of the bands near the border. LOL!

Good point on Lacey. That's the kind of law among many others that were passed to make idiots happy. We need to get those laws back out of the code. There are simply too many laws out there and most of them are not doing anything good. We've created a legal maze for the unweary and we need to start knocking down those walls again to free our country.

I love it Andrew, your passion is showing again. We must give as good as we get, if we want the petty bullying to stop. We like to use the pronoun “we, us,” etc. when referring to the Republican establishment, and nothing could be further from the truth. The country-club bluebloods aka the Bush’s, wouldn’t throw a glass of water on our head if our heads were on fire. In order to change this, we must stay focused and keep firing politicians until they get the message, 2010 was a hell of a good start. We know this by the howling of our leftist/statist enemies….the Tea Party is racist crap. Don’t worry about it, keep fighting back, in three or four elections, we’ll have America back on solid footing. Good read.

Oh, as a Bass player I don’t care for Gibson Basses, with the exception of the SG, and the Ripper, but, nothing is as beautiful as a sunburst Les Paul - - any self respecting tree would be happy to give their lives for such beauty. American Exceptionalism personified. All due respect to Martin Jed.

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Stan! These are things we should feel passionate about. If our leaders won't lead and won't fight back, then we need new leaders. I'm sick of being the patsy, with the Democrats abusing the system, abusing America, and abusing Americans and the Republicans never fighting back. They just promise they won't do it themselves. That's unacceptable. The only way to stop a bully is to give them a bloody nose. You can't stop a bully by saying "I won't ever be like you."

And this issue really gets at the very foundation of our country. If we let the Democrats politicize things like justice in this country, then we have ceased to be a self-governing people and we become property of the powerful. That is unacceptable.

Hopefully, the new crop of Tea Party Republicans are up to the task of fixing this.

"Any self-respecting tree" LOL!

T-Rav said...

Speaking of politicized crap, has anyone noticed that President McAwesome has finally gotten around to giving a speech about his jobs plan? Well, that's great, except 1) it'll probably be nothing but more cheap platitudes, and 2) he'll be giving it on the same night as the next GOP presidential debate. When pressed about it, Jay Carney (the press secretary/smarmy jackass) said the date was totally coincidental--I'll bet it was--but the Republicans have "permission" to reschedule the debate, if they want.

I guess we should have seen this coming. My only question is, is this more evidence of Obama further politicizing his office, or just him acting like a petulant child? Again?

T-Rav said...

Oh, I forgot DUQ already brought it up. My bad.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, Why limit the choices? I'd say it's both. It's Obama using a perk of the office for political reasons, and it's so blatantly obvious that it's evidence of his petulance.

I think Boehner should agree to let him address Congress and then drop a hint that they may not show up. That will let Obama spend the week worrying about looking like an ass.

Of course, they should not in fact show up. Could you imagine him addressing a half empty Congress? LOL!

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, Let's hope DUQ isn't the vengeful type! ;-)

As an aside, the other problem Obama is facing with this speech could well be the humiliation of being beaten in the ratings. You've got the figure that half his normal audience (the Republican half who are generally interested in politics) will be watching the Republicans instead and most average people probably won't bother tuning in. That leaves only his dedicated supporters and they probably won't be interested in yet another speech.

This could be a real embarrassment for him.

DUQ said...

No problem T-Rav. :D

Andrew, that would be really funny if Obama held a speech and no one came!

AndrewPrice said...

DUQ, It would be hilarious! Echo... echo....

T-Rav said...

Andrew, here's hoping that happens! Hmmm...If Obama's teleprompter fell in Congress and no one was around to hear, would he still make a sound?

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, The real question is not would it make a sounds, but how would Obama try to read the sounds it did make?! And after it crashed, the silence would be deafening until his aids got him a new teleprompter.

"That's why we need to tax all work in this country, to create. . . crash, bang, zap. . . I... uh... jobs.... hold on... uh... problem.... TOTUS down! TOTUS down! [silence]"

T-Rav said...

Hmmm. Apparently Boehner's office has told the White House that it won't call the House into session on that day (Wednesday, Sept. 7), but it would be more than happy to do so the next day, on the 8th. Official reasons: The House only gets back in session on the 7th, and they need to do a security sweep before such an important event, so it would be best just to postpone things a day. Unofficial reasons: Well, it might be to give the GOP candidates the media's undivided attention, but guess which day the NFL season starts?

AndrewPrice said...

T_Rav, That is a super smart response by Boehner. Not only does he look like he's the grown up by appearing not to play politics on this, but he sticks Obama with a horrible choice! LOL!

AndrewPrice said...

Wow! ABC news has this ALL backwards. They just reported that Boehner invited Obama to speak before Congress and they just haven't picked a date yet. Talk about a whitewash!

T-Rav said...

Andrew, it was probably just an honest mistake, and as soon as ABC is informed of their error, they will rush to correct themselves. You know, the sort of thing the network news always does.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, I'm sure they'll fix it too. I've never known the networks to twist their reporting to help the Democrats...

Actually, they are now blaming the scheduling issue on Boehner, reporting that the White House checked with Boehner before giving the date (which Boehner denies) and they don't mention at all about the conflict. I guess the details aren't really relevant, are they... since they make Obama look bad.

Of course, without those details the whole story makes no sense since they aren't even telling you that two different days have been proposed. It's really a bizarre story if you don't know the details on your own....

1. Obama will speak at some point.
2. They claim they checked with Boehner before picking the date.
3. Boehner denies this.
4. Next story.

News for liberals has a real fever-dream quality to it... lots of nonsequiturs and random ideas.

AndrewPrice said...

Obama moved his speech. Now NBC is trying to decide what to do. They may end up running with the NFL anyway. That would be awesome.

T-Rav said...

So, I was just scrolling through the interweb, and I ran up on a story that said when the Gibson people first got raided back in '09, the feds told them they would drop all charges (not that there was anything to press charges on in the first place) if the company would use "Madagascan labor" instead of American labor. Which I can only take to mean they wanted Gibson to outsource the jobs to Madagascar.

What was going through the government's head? I mean, even for left-wingers, in what world does this make a lick of sense?

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, It could well be that the key in whether or not the law applies is whether the wood is simply wood if it's processed wood. So it could be that the Justice attorney told them, "if you get these things made there and ship them here, then the law doesn't apply because you're not importing wood, you are instead importing finished goods or materials."

That's possible. And if it is true, then it just highlights how stupid the law is.
