Merry Christmas Everybody

As we inch ever closer to Christmas, it’s time to reflect on this past year and the coming year. More importantly though, it’s time to cheer everybody up before we start the annual Commentarama Christmas vacation. Read on. . . and smiles everyone, smiles.

Politically, 2011 was a bit of a dud. With a record number of conservatives hitting Washington, there were big hopes for change. But alas the Democrats still controlled the White House and the Senate and they stopped anything real from happening. But don’t despair! Change is coming.

● The Supreme Court looks likely to strike down ObamaCare.

● The voters will give the Republicans a huge majority in the Senate, which means undoing the Obama years can begin soon.

● Obama looks finished as President and his crappy ideology is in disgrace.

● Climategage I and II (electric boogaloo) have disgraced the enviro-socialist movement.

● Crying “racism” no longer has much power (if any) with the public.

● The corrupt unions are finished outside the government and now people are targeting the government unions too.

● The next wave of Republican leaders (Ryan, Rubio, West) are genuine conservatives and fighters to boot.

● MSM journalism has reached an all time low in the public’s perception and no longer controls the debate or the flow of information.

● MSNBC is failing.

● And we can look forward to more liberal on liberal sniping like this:
Matt Damon: “I’ve talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, ‘Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician.’ You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better.”

Obama responds: “I’ve even let down my key core constituency: movie stars. Just the other day, Matt Damon – I love Matt Damon, love the guy – Matt Damon said he was disappointed in my performance. Well, Matt, I just saw The Adjustment Bureau, so – right back at-cha, buddy.”
Life is good too. We live in a time when we complain about our wants rather than our needs. Every day brings something new and wonderful from new medicines to new-found planets to new ways to hang out. And speaking of the internet, it just keeps getting better and better. It lets us communicate with long lost friends and people we’d never have met, we can buy anything, find anything, and it even entertains the heck out of us. Moreover, we are on the cusp of a truly free age as the internet is finally starting to give people ways around the roadblocks set up to keep the system in place. . . publishers, record companies, movie companies, retailers, even journalists have all lost their monopolies.

Blogging has been fun too. It’s often hard to tell why some people blog. Some do it for publicity, some are just narcissists. Some. . . I have no idea. I do it because I love the community we’ve created. I love hearing your thoughts and insights and humor. And you all have made 2011 great! Hopefully, 2012 will be just as great. Also, next year. . .
● Bev will be joining the CommentaramaFilms Debate series on Sunday mornings, so make sure you join us for those.

● CommentaramaFilms will be adding a regular Tuesday morning article -- Star Trek Tuesdays. Some of these will be political (the Politics of Trek series) and others will be Scott and I debating everything Star Trek. Tell your nerd friends!

The Conservative Guide To Films should be finished by the end of summer and will be both in real book form and e-book form. I’ve even got an illustrator working on some cool pictures you’ll like.
So all in all, that’s not bad. And while sometimes things may seem a little depressing, don’t get down because we have much to be thankful for and even more to look forward to. Unless the Mayans are right, 2012 should be a pretty darn good year.

So Merry Christmas to everyone and let’s make it a great New Year!

.... and tell us anything you’re looking forward to below.

I look forward to Matt Damon's appearance in the upcoming production of Kim Jong Il Is Dead (subtitle, Team America, World Police II).

TJ said...

Thanks so much for the wonderful blog guys! It's been lots of fun and informative.

Merry Christmas to everyone and hope y'all have a safe and wonderful holiday!

AndrewPrice said...

Speaking of the Jongster, I heard that Jimmy Carter sent condolences to North Korea over the death! A--hole. Even Obama wasn't that stupid.

AndrewPrice said...

You're welcome TJ! Thanks for joining us!

Merry Christmas to you and yours! :)

T-Rav said...

Hey Andrew, I don't wanna cast aspersions or anything, but I suspect you made up that Obama quote.

CrispyRice said...

Merry Christmas to you guys, too! And to all the readers!

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, Nope. Read 'em and laugh. :)

P.S. A special thanks to you, by the way, for all the T-Rav's theaters! You've helped make the debates quite entertaining!

AndrewPrice said...

You too Crispy! Merry Christmas.

T-Rav said...

!!!! I read about Damon's remarks earlier, but I honestly thought you were making up Obama's response. Raarrrr!!!

It's been my pleasure sockpuppeting the debates, Andrew! And there's so much more to look forward to next year!

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, I can see why you would think that because it's really pretty childish for a President to say something like that.... but then, this is Obama. LOL! All I can say is keep it coming, this is not how you win the public over again!

Excellent! 2012 should be loads of fun, especially once we start getting Presidential and Village Idiot... er, Vice Presidential debates! ;)

Ed said...

Merry Christmas everyone. Let me also echo TJ's words and say I love the blog. I love the information you provide and the analysis which frankly cannot be found elsewhere.

As for the New Year, I am looking forward to November and Matt Damon continuing to snipe at his former crush. :D

Ed said...

Let me also say thanks to T-Rav for the Sockpuppet Theaters, I have enjoyed those a lot.

T-Rav's Sockpuppets said...

(blush and take a collective bow)

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Ed! It's not always easy to come up with stuff, but on many days, the things the MSM is missing just scream out to be mentioned. And thanks for sharing your thoughts all year.

On Damon, I am hopefully this will result in a huge on-going spat which can keep us entertained right up to the election, when Damon endorses someone like the socialist(er) candidate. :)

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav's Sockpuppets, Well done. We've never once doubted you are who you claim to be when you post! ;)

"Hey, is that really Joe Biden posting on our blog?"

Ed said...

Also, I see the House Republicans are about to give in on the payroll tax - at least that's how the media is describing it. What do you think about that?

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, I don't think anything about it either way really. I doubt anyone is paying attention to Washington right now, and the fact it's temporary means it will be forgotten when they start fighting over continuing it in a month. So it's pointless theater and will be irrelevant by November.

Tennessee Jed said...

merry christmas, guys. i've enjoyed another year of your blogging in 2011. hopefully, 2012 will continue

AndrewPrice said...

Merry Christmas Jed! Thanks for all your participation during the year -- both the articles, the comments, the insight and the humor.

LawHawkRFD said...

Tennessee and the Whole Gang: We'll actually be doing our Christmas signoff tomorrow morning so everyone will have an opportunity to express their holiday wishes. We're also using that as a pseudo open thread so that everyone can comment on whatever moves them during the week's hiatus.

Matt Damon said...

Obama said what?! But I'm Matt Damon. I can do anything.

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, Yep, vacation starts tomorrow. So everyone get back to work tonight... there's politics to be politicked!

AndrewPrice said...

Matt Damon, Dude, I loved you in that thing you were in... then I hated you. Jerk.

tryanmax said...

Yeah, but just look at the way 0bama carries those pizza boxes!

AndrewPrice said...

Would you say we've found a new job for him when he leaves office?

ScyFyterry said...

Thanks for the peptalk coach!

I'm looking forward to your book.

Merry Christmas!

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks ScyFyTerry! I think you'll like it.

When I first saw your comment, I though you wrote "perptalk" and I kept thinking... "I'm no Democrat?!" ;)

tryanmax said...

Actually, I wouldn't trust him not to screw that up.

AndrewPrice said...

True. It would probably take $4 million for him to deliver it and it would have what he thinks you should have on it, rather than what you ordered. Hmm chili beans and rice on my pizza. Gee, thanks.

I can't believe we're paying for another hugely expensive Hawaiian vacation. Why can't this guy stay in the fricken White House? It's a cool place.

tryanmax said...

Especially since he doesn't have any family there that I know of. I'm sure he claims it more as his home state as an excuse to vacation there more than any ties he actually has. But pretty much his whole family lives with him. There's no real reason for him to split for the holidays.

tryanmax said...

Also, I'm just waiting for the revelation that all of 0bama's beach pictures are actually a body double.

AndrewPrice said...

It's funny you should say that, but I've seen a LOT of photoshopped images of Obama with his family. These are usually images showing Obama and the wife holding hands and there's even one with his grandparents sitting with him on a bench. But if you look closer, you see that the photos have been faked (e.g. you see the real hand poorly erased, etc.)!

I should gather these up and present them all at some point.

It makes me wonder if anything we know about him is true?

AndrewPrice said...

On the vacation, I'm not familiar with any family that he has there. In fact, as far as I know, his family is busy dodging INS up in Boston.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, part of the reason it's so costly is that he's renting a place -- it's not even like he's visiting his own home like Bush or Reagan did.

This is purely a boondoggle.

tryanmax said...

Not that I should ever be president (I'm man enough to admit that I don't like Newt because I think I have too much in common with him) but if I were, I'd totally be bringing my family to DC. I mean, why wouldn't you? It's not something everybody gets to do and those that do only can for 8 years at the most.

AndrewPrice said...

Tell me about it! Living in THE WHITE HOUSE is one of the coolest perks of the job!

That or having your own jet.

....and launching nuclear strikes on unsuspecting countries.

DUQ said...

Ho ho ho! Nice to see you'll be adding Bev and a Star Trek article! Good luck with the book.

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks DUQ! Tell your Trekkie friends. :)

Merry Christmas to you too!

StanH said...

2012 is setting up for a continued conservative landslide, that is of course unless the RNC does something to screw it up. If we can stay focused for several election cycles, you never know, the quail may have to break their coke habit.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Commentarians!

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, That defines liberalism perfectly: "vote for us so the quail don't suffer from withdrawal syndrome!" Let's hope everyone stays the course in 2012. Merry Christmas!

Doc Whoa said...

Excellent work this year Andrew, especially on the film site. Merry Christmas!

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Doc and thanks for sharing your thoughts! Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Hanukkah! I've been traveling and "of the grid"!

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Off the grid! Someday, that won't even be possible. :(

Happy Hanukkah!

T-Rav said...

Our local TV station had The Twilight Zone's Christmas episode on tonight. :-)

AndrewPrice said...

Which one?

T-Rav said...

The one where the drunk homeless guy becomes Santa Claus. That makes me smile every time I see it. It's one of the few unreservedly joyful episodes of the series.

AndrewPrice said...

Ah, yes, that's a good one. I like the happy ones, I think it's great that they mixed those in. :)

Patti said...

wait! are you calling me a narcissist? AGAIN?! eh, i'll take it; i've been called worse.

barry's response to matt = coffee-spitting funny. well done!

I wish you all a merry and holy Christmas. I count our friendships as one of my blessings, and I appreciate the good you have done here.

Merry Christmas!

Patti said...

OMG! I just clicked the linkage to the quote.

Ahhh, this is my first Christmas gift of the day. I love it Andrew! How did you know it's what I wanted?!

Merry Christmas Andrew and Lawhawk

Thanks for another successful year with the Blog.

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Patti! Same here! I love your site and try to visit every day because I love reading your perspective. Thanks for that and for visiting with us and sharing your thoughts. :)

On Damon v. Obama, I'm glad you liked the link! It is like an early Christmas gift! And I have great hopes their feud will continue in the new year! I wonder if there's some way we can encourage them to really go after each other?!

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Indi! Let's hope 2012 is even bigger (with better things to talk about -- like Obama getting swept out of power)!

And thanks for your perspective. You made some truly interesting and thoughtful comments throughout the year and I'm always fascinated by your perspective.

Ed said...

Andrew, Did you see Newt apparently told gays to vote for Obama?!

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, I saw the headline yesterday but didn't click the article and I don't see it anywhere today. But it wouldn't surprise me if true. Gingrich is good at turning people off.

T-Rav said...

Early Christmas gift: I have not watched it yet, but RedLetterMedia's Harry Plinkett has officially posted his "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" review. Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-ha-ha!!

T-Rav, Awesome! Thanks for the heads up! I know what I'm doing tonight! :)

Here's the link for anyone interested: Red Letter Media

Merry Christmas, Andrew and everyone at Commentarama! It's my favorite blog, hands-down!

I'm looking forward to Obama losing in a landslide election and more photos of the president slurping on ice cream cones, although I will miss the Biden gaffes when they lose the next election...

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Writer X! I appreciate that! :) And Merry Christmas to you too!

Don't worry about Biden, he'll keep making very public gaffes long after he leaves office.
