Memorial Day Schedule & Open Thread

Unlike Obama, we won't flee our country when it comes time to celebrate the men and women who sacrificed for this country. But we are taking a couple days off. We'll put up a Memorial Day post on Monday and resume regular posting on Tuesday. In the meantime, post your thoughts here.

Also, drop by Sunday as I'll officially open the film site with the most consequential article OF ALL TIME. . . TIME. . . TIME. . .! Tell your friends, hit the follow button, leave a comment and stare in awe at the knowledge you will gain puny mortals!!

RIP Jeff Conway. Sad, sad, sad. I saw him on "Celebrity Rehab" (yes, I watched it sometimes, so sue me) and he sadly looked like he wasn't going to last long.

I liked Conaway, too, especially in Taxi. I don't know what his life would have been like without Hollywood, but access to excess seems to do an awful lot of otherwise decent people in. Unlike many other fields of endeavor, there doesn't seem to be a show biz distaste for drug and alcohol problems or outrageous self-destructive behavior. The music business is even worse. It's a shame.

That's the spirit T-Rav! Woo hoo!

I suspect your excited because when we're done, we're going to print out the whole site and shove into a Hollywood computer and it will turn out the greatest screenplay of all time. . . Commentarama The Film!

Actually, it should be fun.

On Conaway, It is sad that he's gone. But it's kind of nice to see that so many other people liked him too. I think that says something about him that he was able to reach through the screen so to speak.

I liked him in Grease, but like DUQ, my favorite role of his was in B5.

I don't know if any of you have ever been to Washington DC on Memorial Day, but I highly recommend it. The city gets flooded with motorcylists -- they call it "Rolling Thunder." It's pretty impressive to walk around downtown and see motorcycles literally as far as the eye can see, dotting every inch of road and the mall. It's also amazing that you never see the same bike twice. Really cool.
