Captioning: Congressional Metaphor

A picture is worth a thousand words, or so they say. The picture below works as an excellent metaphor for the interaction between Congress and the American people. In the first vehicle, Congress goes for a reckless ride -- that's Congress in the back of the truck. Being Congress, they try to do the impossible, the stupid. . . and they do it at full speed with no thought to what they are about the unleash. In the second vehicle, that's us. Wonderful.

I see myself as sitting in one of the mobile offices on the back of the truck...my place in the scheme of things under the regime of barack hussein obama.

LL, I like that term "mobile offices" -- that seems fitting somehow for this administration!

Andrew: It's not the first time the two Houses have crapped on us, but I don't think I've ever seen it so well-documented before.

And Tom Coburn says, "Nancy Pelosi is a real nice lady. Now, you listen to me...have you ever met her? She's a real nice lady."

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, This is true investigative journalism!! LOL!

AndrewPrice said...

CrisD, Yeah, I saw that. Very disappointing. First, I doubt she's a nice person. Nice people don't say or do the things she's done and said. Secondly, whether he likes her or not is not relevant to the politics and if he's concerned that we should like her, then he's not understanding what his job is about.

That Tom Coburn comment was very McCain like in describing Barry ala ’08 campaign. You only hear this coming from the Republicans, the democrats describe the Republicans as Satan’s spawn. Comity is a requirement in a civilized society, but wow!

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, I know. The Democrats never forget that everything is political now, and they blast the Republicans for everything at all times. . . only the Republicans seem to want "civility". It's time that stopped.

my latest fav movie to quote is zombieland (watch it!). funny stuff. the pic reminded me of this line: "It's amazing how fast the world can go from bad to total shit storm."

AndrewPrice said...

Patti, That was an entertaining movie and a great quote.

When I read the headline, my first thought was, "Is it time for another colorful metaphor?" from Star Trek IV.

Having seen the photo, my second thought is "When Kramer hears about this, the shit's gonna hit the fan!" from Airplane.

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, Nice references! The Airplane scene in particular is very vivid!

Tom Coburn's "She's a nice lady." statement about Pelosi. God bless him for being a Southern gentleman. I'm sure she IS nice lady, but I don't care! I'm not having drinks with her. She's first and foremost a condescending politician, and deserving of my scorn and ridicule. Besides, a lady wouldn't have called me names on national television (Astroturfing mob, indeed).

AndrewPrice said...

Exactly Bev, no real lady would have made the statements Pelosi's made to the media.

I wish the Congressional toilets would do a Thelma & Louise off the nearest cliff.

Nice to see that we get to drive the red convertible, at least until the value-added tax makes it impossible to afford one. Please tell me that's not a Prius.

AndrewPrice said...

Writer X, That would be a great movie -- Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid starring in the remake of Thelma and Lousie. . . in port-a-potty!

To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen: "Ms. Pelosi, I knew a lady (or two), and you are no lady."

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, That quotes gets a lot of great mileage.

Liberal: Damn! Should have taken the limo today.

Ponderosa, You know that liberals don't own limos. . . all liberals are "working poor", right?
