Gender Equality Comes To The Taliban

Obama and the Surrendercrats are right after all. In fact, we don't even have to wait for a year or two for a near-complete drawdown in Afghanistan. At last, the Taliban have joined the 21st Century and have indicated their readiness to join the world of civilized nations. Taliban women are no longer property or second-class citizens. They're fully mainstream now--officially.

The Taliban announced publicly for the very first time that on two separate occasions in the past week, females were used in attacks on police and military officials in Pakistan near the Afghan border. Now what could be more equal and more enabling than to be able to join the men in blowing themselves to bits in the name of the Prophet? There has been speculation and some evidence that they have used women in the past for suicide bombings, but now it's proudly official.

In one instance, a husband and wife team dressed themselves in burqas in Kolachi, entered a police station, started firing, and after a five-hour standoff, blew themselves up. That resulted in ten deaths, not including the male-female team. It should be interesting to see how this plays out in the future. The duo was able to get into the police station largely because until now, two burqa-clad figures theoretically meant two women, and the Taliban would never use evil, degenerate women to please Allah. The locals are more likely now to take a quick peek under those outfits capable of concealing Fat Man and Little Boy both. You've come a long way, baby.

The other incident has gotten a bit more Taliban propaganda publicity, because the bomber in this case was an eight-year old girl. A child, you say? Don't forget that among the Taliban and other cave-dwelling primitives, the age of consent is somewhere around six, so this girl was nearly middle-aged. This sacrifice for the love of Allah took place in the Char Chino district of the Pakistani province of Uruzgan.

The Taliban are so anxious to get out the good news about gender equality that they didn't actually stage this second attack too well. It remains unclear if the girl actually had any idea what she was about to do. The elders handed her a bag with an improvised explosive device in it and told her to take it to police forces. She did, and blew herself up, but did little damage to the police station and there are no reported deaths other than the gender-equality one.

There is also the problem of the Taliban previously denying the use of willing gender-equal female bombers and attackers. About a year ago, a female suicide bomber wearing a chic burqa blew up a United Nations food distribution center in Pakistan, killing forty-five people. But the Taliban first denied involvement, then simply refused to take credit for the bombing. Today, they are making great progress in bringing women into the forefront of "liberation" as an official policy.

The Taliban didn't want anyone to confuse the current girl-bomber with the one who failed a week earlier. It would ruin the official version of her body parts being sent to the four winds. The earlier incident involved an attack that failed. In that case, a nine-year old girl told a harrowing tale of being kidnapped in Peshawar then sent off to blow up a Pakistani checkpoint. She was told by her handlers that she should walk calmly toward the checkpoint while reciting verses from the Koran until it was time to push the button. And therein lay the failure. It never occurred to the cave boys that a nine-year old kidnap victim might not be in the mood to spread herself over a half-acre of territory guarded by people she didn't know and had no quarrel with. Religious zealotry can go only just so far.

Interestingly, though proudly taking credit for the voluntary self-immolation of an eight-year old girl in Pakistan, the Taliban strongly deny using children at all for attacks inside Afghanistan. Despite the gracious protection given to the Taliban in Pakistan by sympathetic Pakistanis, they don't seem to have the same sensitivities toward child suicide bombing victims there as they do at home.

One thing missing from this article is how the Taliban recruit females. The method favored by them is rape. Ruining a girl in the muslim culture. Then giving the girl the option of redeeming themselves by suicide with the death of infidels, or stoning.

Lovely people, aren't they?

So if a male Muslim martyr gets 72 virgins in heaven, what does a female martyr get, I wonder? I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's not 72 strapping young men, but I could be wrong.

Joel: That is indeed one of the recruiting measures. It is beyond comprehension for any civilized person or religion. Simply twisted.

T-Rav: I think they get multi-colored burqas and a drivers license.

"evil" really isn't a strong enough word in today's world - it's been over-used and watered down. this is evil.

and, T-Rav, I figure they're lucky if they get an offer to be one of another "martyr"'s 72...

We know women like to go around in a burqas, cause “Prince” told us so. I can speak for the lady’s in my life, try to get them to wear a burqa, somebody would have to send in a rescue mission. They’d have me hanging upside down from a tree over a flaming cauldron chanting, “all men must die!” No seriously, what the hell is going on with women in this country siding with the Islamo-goons. I believe this one issue tells you all you need to know about NOW, etc. and the radical women’s movement, blithering idiots.

rlaWTX: "Evil" should be a good enough word if it weren't for the fact that too many people in this country have been convinced there is no such thing. If we could just get the Taliban into therapy, they could be rehabilitated and learn to love their fellow man (and even woman).

Stan: My ex occasionally dressed in something akin to a burqa. But that was only when I would drag her to the beach. She is very fair-skinned and extremely sensitive to direct sun. So she covered pretty much everything. I never understood why she objected to my asking her why she didn't complete the job and put something over her mouth. Now you have at least a partial explanation for why she's my ex. God bless her independent soul. LOL

I'll never be able to comprehend why NOW and women's groups are so supportive of a group that is unalterably opposed to rights of any kind for women. Ditto for gay rights activists who are simply targets for summary execution in fundamentalist Muslim society.

StanH and LawHawk,

It is not logical. It is not about logic. It is about emotions underneath the skin of civilization.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." The biggest enemy of NOW is White American Males of European Stock. The biggest enemy of Muslims is White American Males of European Stock. The Jews in Israel are small potatoes. This is horrendously simplified. Keep this in mind when reading about how NOW has no problems with Muslims. Oh, and most liberals don't include themselves with the White American Males of European Stock.

Where in any kind of logic or human emotion can any one in the civilized world understand let alone condone this type of behavior?

Civilized is probably the key operative there.
Criminal would fit better unless heathen would be more descriptive.

How can there be any need for restraint in erasing this cancerous abomination from the face of the Earth completely?

Not even dogs or pigs behave in this manner, so they must be a higher order of creature.

Unknown said...

Joel: It is indeed entirely illogical, wholly emotional, and completely irrational.

Tehachapi Tom: It's impossible to use the words "civilized" and "Taliban" in the same sentence.

Hawk - next they will protesting their allah granted rights to be forced into genital mutilation. It is serious and horrifying the way women are treated by some under Islamic culture.

That said, on a related (well kinda sorta) topic I don't know if you happened to see Jonah Goldberg's blurb in National Review about the "outing" of two alleged lesbian bloggers (one in Damascus) who turned out both to be men posing as lesbians. It is l.o.l. funny and puts a M.C, Escher quality to the old joke about the guy claiming to be a lesbian trapped in a ma's body.

One must work hard to maintain one's sense of humor in the reign of Obama.

T-Rav said...

LawHawk, women never understand when you're offering them helpful, logical suggestions, do they? (snort)

I'm still holding out hope, though, that Robin Williams was right and the "martyrs" get 72 Virginians, rather than 72 virgins.

Unknown said...

Tennessee: Treatment toward women among the Taliban is brutal and barbaric, and they are not alone in the Middle East and Africa.

I actually saw the Goldberg article in the L.A. Times, and I'm still laughing. Here's the link: Taken In By A Gay Girl. Mark Steyn (my favorite writer) did an hilarious followup in National Review.

You're so right--we have to maintain our sense of humor about this, or spend the whole day crying.

T-Rav: I felt very unappreciated. LOL

The 72 Virginians joke is a keeper.

Grumble grumble grumble... dang internet.

Clearly the Taliban understand the Democratic mindset. They don't mind terrorists so long as those terrorists aren't racist or sexist. By eliminating the potential problem, they have cleared the way to make peace with Team Obama. Smart move.

Andrew: Thanks for the explanation. Sometimes the obvious escapes me. You just eliminated all my confusion. LOL
