According to the "2012 Primary Debate Schedule", this debate will be about "Jobs". I know what you're thinking. How is it possible that there could be another debate? What more can these candidates possibly do or say to prove that they are "The One That We Have Been Waiting For"? Who can possibly know...
For those of you keeping track, today there is a primary in Washington and following close behind is Super Tuesday, March 6th with primaries in Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Ohio, North Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia.
I cannot predict if the Sockpuppets will appear on such short notice to guide us through, but this is what I think will happen tonight:
1. Willard Mitt "Mitt" Romney will say something that sounds vaguely "Presidential", but safe;
2. Richard John "Rick" Santorum will say something about Romney firing people, and complain later about a conspiracy against him;
3. Newton Leroy "Newt" Gingrich will say something that will make us wonder where this "Newt" has been;
4. Ronald Ernest "Ron" Paul will not be present;
5. No one will say anything new or different;
6. At about 10 minutes into the debate, I will have a strong compulsion to stick my head in my gas oven and breath deeply...

Willard? Newton? Ernest? Ug.
About the debate, let me just say.... Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I may or may not be able to make it so everyone should please start without me.
I thought it's about time we used their real names.
Yeah, I wish I could say I have better things to do on a Saturday night but... No ugly tie shall go uncriticized.
Gott in Himmel! What have we done to deserve this? But we gotta do what we gotta do. I should be back from our shopping trip into Bakersfield in time for the debate (unless I can convince my daughter to put an ice pick into one of the tires). See y'all later.
LawHawk, save that icepick for my skull.
I stand by my Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be on line watching and also watching UNC-Duke. UNC will surface like presidential Mitt, ganged upon Santorum and "the other" Newton.
Does anyone know if my vote in MA primary is winner take all delagates? Never done a presidential here.
CrisD - MA has a "proportional" primary. I know people 'round here don't like Wikipedia that much, but they have a nice chart that lays out each state's delegate information.

My oven is small, but I bet a least two heads could fit in it, if necessary...
Bev, The Wikipedia is a great source for most things, provided you have a strong bullsh*t detector and you avoid the political pages. But for basic facts and especially pop culture stuff, it's an excellent resource.

Tx. Bev, I am too lazy for words! I was wondering if my vote would count. I think it will.

AND I did not read your notice that it will not be streamed live! I will be wrestling the remote from darling.
This woman doesn't blink. That scares me.
This is actually an interesting forum and the one we've been craving. It's not really a debate, but a one-on-one Q&A and very specific. No sound bites answers and no attacks on fellow candidates allowed.
Oh crap, I forgot this horse@#$% is on.
Somehow, the fact that they're meeting in an empty factory with lots of dangerous equipment in the background seems....strangely apt.

So Newton is going to have us taxpayers pay for new equipment for businesses and retrain unemployed people (how's he going to ascertain that?) for new jobs. As usual Newt has a grand plan $$$$$
CrisD - I don't agree that he said that. He would want expenses for equipment to be 100% deductible. Frankly, I thought they were already.
And I think the burden of training workers SHOULD be on businesses rather than the government.
Why the hell are injured soldiers having to wait for treatment?
CrisD said...
O Bev, I thought he said that the government would give training for unemployment insurance because there WERE jobs but the people were not trained for them. In reality, unemployed people cannot easily be trained for any job. Usually, this works itself out in a capitalist society all by itself.
I don't think expenses for business equipment should be 100% deductible in one year. No, I dont.
Bev, I heard something about this guy earlier in the week but I don't remember the full story. Something about the new DoD health plan not covering that sort of injury.
CrisD said...
Yeah, UNC just trounced 'em.
T-Rav - His son has a closed-head injury and PTSD. Since his injuries are not bleeding, he had to wait for treatment. That and Obama just announced a cut in health benefits for active military.
I thought Romney spoke well about anti-union wages and benefits. Also, cutting govt. programs. Like all R's, he does not want to cut any military or vet benefits.

who would have thought Rick would be two stepping out there???
Just got back from Bakersfield. Given the format and the time that passed before I got to it, I think I'll leave the commenting to those who have actually been watching and paying attention for the past hour and a half.
Yeah, but it's okay. At least the labor unions aren't suffering any reduction in health benefits, and that's what really matters.
Incidentally, re your question 'What more can these candidates possibly do or say to prove that they are "The One That We Have Been Waiting For"?' I thought we were the ones we've been waiting for.
T-Rav - You know, you are right. We ARE the ones we've been waiting for. Now that we're here, whadda we do?

and Romney really WAS presidential when talking to the father of the soldier who was killed. But I think the professional panel was right, this forum was showed them all better, as you said Bev.
The residents of Wilmington, OH we will see next will be interesting. The one lady is pulling her social security early to hold on to the house. The college kid didn't understand why Santorum said "not everyone goes to college"....what a crew!
CrisD said...
Soldiers dad..Romney. check
Used retirement to hold on to house..Romney didn't explain fully how he would help her.
College kid is an independent. Wants government to "work together" and stop bickering and govern him. check
Though it still pains me a little to say it, I think Romney did very well with the panel tonight. Everyone did good, I think, but Romney came across as warm, engaged, sympathetic--qualities he desperately needs to convey if he's going to be the nominee.
T-Rav - I think Romney was momentarialy thrown by the emotional questions, but I think he handled it well. And I think Newt did well too. Santorum was okay, but I am not convince. I would have loved to see what Paul could have do in this kind of forum.
I really liked this format and mostly, I didn't feel like putting my head in the oven once!
Join us, Bev....join us....
Suicidal People - If there is one more debate, I may take you up on your offer...
Yo, I'm back people!
Before I read the comments... did I miss anything?
Wow! So Romney trounced Santorum (13%) in Washington and even Paul beat Santorum....
That's huge actually. Washington was supposed to be Santorum country.
Technology has made a liar of me. I went offline for the whole evening. Sadly, I will be unable to render a tie verdict unless I can find sufficient YouTube clips, by which time no one will care anymore. :(
tryanmax, I haven't seen any of it. I had a family commitment which kept me away until after it was over. It sounds like Romney won though, based on the Fox people -- who clearly don't seem happy about it.
Here's a thought...Why doesn't UFC sponsor a debate?
tryanmax, That would be totally cool. They could even had the debate inside a cage and the moderator could look like a referee!
