I'm Angry and I'm Not Gonna Take It Anymore

3/20/2010 Anti-Obamacare Rally
Washington, D.C.
You know, I am coming to the end of my patience and I may need the collective encouragement of all of the Commentarama-ians to talk me down from the ledge I am on. As the campaign rhetoric heats up, I am beginning to see a very clear pattern of how this election cycle is going to go and I do not think I can continue to keep a civil tongue in my head.

Let me start by saying that I have made no secret that I am a proud member of the Tea Party movement and have been since February 27, 2009 when I attended my first rally in City Hall Park in New York City. Since that day, I have attended many small to medium rallies sponsored by our local New York City Tea Party groups, and was in Washington for the very first 9/12 Rally on September 12, 2009 where it was reported that from 500 to 2,000,000 people attended. We all had different reasons for coming together, but mostly we knew (and still do) there was a coming fiscal disaster-train heading our way and we desperately wanted to slow that train down to minimize the damage.

We were mocked, called silly and stupid names, and became the butt of about every prurient joke the MSM et al. could throw at us. They mocked our collective ages, weight, I.Q.s, and costumes all in hopes of dissuading us and sending us running back to our Laz-y-boy recliners. Still we would not be dissuaded even when our Democrat Congressional leaders in the halls of the Congress and the MSM were telling us with great sincerity that we were all sad, misguided astro-turfers being led by unseen evil forces and would soon peter out (no pun intended) to be a unimportant footnote in history.

But then came the March 20, 2010 rally to protest the upcoming Congressional vote on Obamacare. That's when the first real cries of "racism" could be heard in earnest. The Congressional Black Caucus lead by Reps. Emanuel Cleaver, Andre Carson, and John Lewis accused us of hurling racial slurs and spitting at them with a little Rep. Barney Frank thrown in to hurl the cries of "homophobia". When asked to provide some kind of proof, they stood by their accusations steadfastly recounting flashbacks to yesteryears and imploring everyone to trust them. Even after the late Andrew Breitbart offered $250K for any video or photographic proof that would prove their accusations to be true, they could not find one shred of evidence in support. There are hours of video and audio footage from every conceivable angle of their walk through the teaming throngs of protesters [see photo above] as these heinous acts allegedly occurred. Hours of video and audio of the accusers and the accused, but not one moment of video or audio that could prove these accusations to be anything but false. Fortunately, we had learned early the ways of the MSM and collectively knew that we must maintain our own video record. A sad fact that I am almost certain that Reps. Cleaver, Carson, Lewis, and Frank had not been clever enough to foresee.

For the record, the following is the list of the Official Tea Party priorities from the “Contract From America“ published on April 14, 2010:
(1) Protect the Constitution;
(2) Reject Cap and Trade;
(3) Demand a Balanced Budget;
(4) Enact Fundamental Tax Reform;
(5) Restore Fiscal Responsibility and Constitutionally Limited Government in Washington;
(6) End Runaway Government Spending;
(7) Defund, Repeal, and Replace Government-run Health Care;
(8) Pass an ‘All-of-the-Above” Energy Policy;
(9) Stop the Pork;
(10) Stop the Tax Hikes
For three and half years now, I, and many that I know, have been called "racists" in every conceivable venue - on the floor of Congress (both houses), by the President, in the MSM, on liberal blogs, by liberal pundits and comedians, and in every manner of public social media, because we dare to speak out against the fiscal policies of our present Administration and just will not go away. Why, only this week, I was called a racist on Facebook because I am member of the Tea Party and, as the equation has been well established by now, Tea Party = "racist". It is sad when people are so blinded by their own ignorant hatred that they can brand an entire group of people by the actions of a very few. Judging an entire group because of the actions of few used to be called "bigotry", but now it's called...well, I still call it "bigotry" and I am going to double down and call it "self-righteous bigotry" at that. For the record, there was a statement made at a Arkansas Tea Party rally that was deemed racist. The person making the statement was publicly condemned and removed from their leadership position within hours of her statement.

But what finally put me on the ledge this week were these little tidbits! Where is the outrage and condemnation from those liberals who abhor hate-filled, violent images and rhetoric? Let's just say right off the bat, if either of these images were Obama-related, people would have lost their jobs, possibly have been jailed, or, at the very least would have been outed and humiliated into making a public apology...

First - Well, we've talked about this one:

Oh, I know, the HBO Props Department just happened to have a severed head of George W. Bush lying around in their "Stock Severed Heads" closet and thought it would be really cheeky to put it on a spike in a scene in their hit series "Game Of Thrones". It probably would have been one of those inside jokes that those in the Props Department could have quietly howled about for years. But they just had to brag about how clever they were in the "Special Features" section on the DVD. Oh, yes, HBO issued their stock apology (no doubt from their "Stock Apology" closet), but I want to know who is in charge of the Props Department and I want him or her outed and publicly condemned in full living color.

Oh, and then there is this:

Shocking, isn't it? I mean, perhaps Martin Bashir, currently with NBC News as a contributor for its Dateline program, and an afternoon anchor for MSNBC, should not be fantasizing about blowing up a bus especially a bus of a current US Presidential candidate and broadcasting that fantasy in full color video. I mean, he's British of Pakistani descent - that same Pakistan that protected Osama bin Laden, so, I am going to go out on limb and call Mr. Martin Bashir of MSNBC a terrorist. Well, I mean, why not? I've already been called a racist, an ignorant hillbilly, a moron, a Teabagger, a Rethuglican, so why not add "bigot" and "xenophobe" to the pile. Oh, yeah, I've been called those too.

I apologize in advance for my long-windedness. I am now going to the gym to work off some of my anger and will be back in about an hour or so.

Bev, Welcome to the world of liberalism, where anyone who disagrees is evil.

Bev: Excellent rant. And though I never formally joined the Tea Party, I am in complete sympathy with their agenda and impressed by their restraint. It takes people with considerable self-control not to become the very thing the left accuses them of. A whiff of racism or a hint of retaliation, and the MSM would be all over it. Instead, they have to make stuff up because Tea Partiers are too smart to take the bait.

They let you embed a YouTube clip?! I'm gonna have to try that one day. :-)

Re: Game of Thrones, we talked about it yesterday. I know you're exaggerating (slightly) but I don't believe HBO has some magical props department full of wonders. I imagine most of this stuff is either rented or manufactured from scratch.

As was mentioned previously, the head was already made and sitting on a shelf and the question no one seems to be asking is, "For what project was the head originally constructed?" And considering the different countries the show shoots in, the prop guy on this episode could've easily been some non-English-speaking Icelandic guy! :-)

Having said that, what the hell was up with that bus clip?!? Are they nuts? (That was a rhetorical question.) Thank God Romney wasn't traveling via space shuttle.

Then again, no one's doing that these days. :-(

Bev, a little venting now and then is good for the soul! :-)

I don't know what the people at Game of Thrones were thinking. Maybe they really were just using it as a generic head. But I doubt I'm being controversial when I say that many or most of those involved with that show or any other production in Hollywood would have no problem seeing Bush's head on a stick in reality. They're just that hateful.

T-Rav, Nor would they have any problem getting their rage on if it had been an Obama head.

Okay, it took me longer than I thought to work through my anger at the gym. Grrrr. But looking at the glass half full, this angry workout thing is really working to my advantage!

BevfromNYC said...

Thanks LawHawk. You don't have to be a member to be sympathetic. It's really very simple to understand that we are all fighting hard not to end up like Greece, or Spain, or Italy, or so on.

BevfromNYC said...

Scott & T-Rav - I wasn't kidding. I know from experience that they probably have a prop room with heads. I've made them. And I have been privy and a part of inside jokes that the audience doesn't not know about, but amuses the insiders to no end. And if Sven from Iceland made the head, then the Props Manager knew he was doing it. It's okay, but don't brag about it and expect a pat on the back. They are called "inside jokes" for a reason.

BevfromNYC said...

Oh, and Scott, I've never really had a problem embedding Youtube videos in my stuff. For some reason I can't do the linky thing in my comments though. I have never been able to figure out the why in that.

T-Rav said...

Bev, having been in a number of inbred environments like that before, that does not surprise me in the least.

BevfromNYC said...

T-Rav - I didn't do film. I did live theatre. The trick with the inside joke that the audience never sees but amuses the cast and crew is that the producers and/or directors never see it either, so you don't get fired.

Bev, it's okay to be long-winded with your rant. I suppose, if they want to have a little fun, maybe we should return the favor. Anyone interested in having a little fun with these? After all, these people are delusional, and don't have a problem letting us know how they feel.

Did you not read the HBO apology. Evidently body parts are a rare commodity on the set and they have to use whatever is lying at hand. Now is it there fault the only severed head they had used W's likeness. Is is so un fair to the HBO execs after all the Directors know they should never have mentioned it.......

Perhaps the HBO guys should make a deal with the walking dead set.... then again it is electorial season and zombies vote democrat in even higher percentages than minorities do so maybe that was not an option.....

Bev..........the anger from the majority of Americans is becoming more and more palatable. Obamas amnesty EO a couple days ago will further drive a wedge between law abiding Tea Partiers and "progressives."

We will always be on the receiving end of crap like that because we try and follow the law as it was written, not as we interpret it to be. When you have a living Constitution,then you can have your lawyers interpret it to mean anything you want t to mean. It then becomes a legal plaything rather than a governing document to run a society by. Because you know that todays liberals are much smarter and educated than our founders.....they went to Yale and Harvrad Law you know!

I believe you can only push around a free people long enough before they rise up in anger and take decisive action. We are getting extremely tired of these actions taken outside the law such that we need expert legal analysis to discern what exactly a plainly written constitution actually means.

I don't consider Obama a constitutional law expert by any stretch. One would think his attorney general might be though. Blatantly ignoring the established law, obfuscating anytime he speaks t congress, and favoring one group over another is not e pluribus unum by any stretch (yes I know that's not from the constitution).

I really think we are in revolutionary times and will be deciding which way our country goes with this next election. Count me among those who stand with the Tea Partiers and everything they represent. We will see soon if the ballot box can determine history, or if human nature in all it's nastiest manifestations will negate existing law. We saw a preview of that with this last EO.

Patriot,

I know what you mean. I've been hearing it from people (some of whom I've met for the first time) for a while now. They will just blurt things out.

It has taken a long time, but my sister is finally paying attention to what is going on. I've been trying to get her to join our group, and as soon as there is the right opportunity, we'll be on at the same time so that I can help her along.

as the old Adage goes "Absolute Power corrupts absolutely".

We have allowed the federal gvoernment to expand into the states, to take over the welfare system which prior to 1930's and 1960's was handled through private charities and church groups, to take over business (FDA, EPA, et al.) Prior to this Tort actions were handled by the states and requlations was only that which was needed and was local.

Now the liberals have givenm us these arguments as to how a gvoernment needs to step in and correct "injusticies" and control "private" behavior. By labelling this behavior the acts of soulless corporations they got us to go along.

Now that the government controls so much of the economy either through direct taxationa and redistirbution or indirectly through executive agencies the temptation for the bureaucrats in charge to rule as despots is too great.

I think this is why you have so many reinterpretations of the constitution. This is also why conservatives that get into office tend to become "compassionate conservatives", talk about "some government is necessary", refuse to take on the third rail issues and become RINO's that "reach across the aisle.

No King ever diminishes his power on his own accord. There need to be other groups forcing his hand .....

More than the gratuitously long montage of bus explosions, I'm bothered by Bashir's cute little turn of phrase describing Romney's tour of "real America, small town America, I think you know what he means..." I know condescension when I hear it, and I imagine it was all Bashir could do to keep from saying "hickville" out lout.

BTW, as long as we are embracing our bigotry, I though I might inform the room that the British slur for a Pakistani is "Paki."

Cooler heads (no pun intended with Bush's head on a spike) will prevail. The Tea Party has injected enthusiasm into the American (the truly American) public which the Marxists do not have an answer to. They (Left) first called us Astro-turf, thugs, terrorists and such. Then they denied we were even there. Then they tried to mimic us with the "coffee party" followed by their own "Astro-turfed" OWS. In the process they have lost Ted Kennedy's seat (Scott Brown) followed by Virginia's Governer seat (Bob McDonnell) and NJ Governership (Christie). Then the wave of Congressional tea party elected into office effectively taking Nanci Pelosi's gavel from her fingers. Now comes 2012. Oh my......
