"I’m No Crook!"

No, that’s not the right President. I’m trying to find the quote that goes with Barack Obama. Hmmmm. “I am not weak on foreign policy or national security.” No, that’s not right either. Now the fact is that our current President is a crook, and he is weak on foreign policy and national security. But he didn’t say those things.

Well, let me give it another try. “I am not irrelevant, and I did not have sex with that woman.” Aw, strike three. C’mon, friends, give me one more shot, please. I think I’ve got it: “I am not a failure--I am a helpless victim of circumstance.” That’s the ticket! I finally matched the face to the saying. It’s the guy who doesn’t look like the other Presidents. And OK, I admit it, he hasn’t personally said that, yet. But his friends in the mainstream media have said that, and I call particular attention to Peter Baker’s Monday editorializing news article on the front page of the New York Times.

The article was entitled “Obama’s Focus on Re-Election Faces World of Complications.” Parker laments: “For Barack Obama, a president who set out to restore good relations with the world in his first term, the world does not seem to be cooperating all that much with his bid to win a second.” Aw, poor Barack. And it ain’t just those furriners who are giving him fits. Events are overwhelming him right in his own country. Andrew Price covered part of this excuse-making Wednesday in his article on the alleged “impossibility” of any president doing a good job in such a complicated setting.

Obama says the European monetary crises are about to overwhelm America. Of course, the Europeans are saying the diametric opposite. See what I mean? How’s a poor kid from Chicago supposed to handle all this disharmony? In the Middle East, the Arab Spring is turning out to be the Arab Little Ice Age despite all of Obama’s good faith speechifying about the proper course for those governments to take. Now, his plans for Egypt have gone awry since the Jihadist candidate and the Islamofascist candidate for Egypt’s presidency have both claimed victory while the Egyptian military have said they both lose and have dissolved the Islamist legislature.

Obama perfectly nicely asks Russian President Vladimir Putin to help him out in bringing peace in Syria, and what does he get? Contempt. How can any President be expected to deal with such bad manners? He knows he can’t do a “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall” speech because that speech is already taken and he also knows that a speech even approaching that kind of defiance would get loud horselaughs in the Kremlin.

Baker tries a small preemptive strike on Obama’s behalf by saying “some Romney advisers said Mr. Obama was too willing to avoid accountability by presenting himself as a powerless bystander.” But Baker thinks such an idea is unfair and untrue. Obama isn’t a willing victim of circumstance, he’s an unwilling victim of circumstance. Until his own leftist base pushed him to extremes, Obama correctly said that he was a president and not a king, and he couldn't act on his own to create and enforce immigration reform. But circumstances overwhelmed him and forced him to issue an executive order against his will which does exactly what he said he didn't have the power to do. It's not easy being helpless.

Domestically, it has taken over a year and a near constitutional crisis to get Obama to act on one of those unmanageable circumstances. It isn’t his fault that Eric Holder is about to be cited for contempt of Congress for failing to respond properly to House requests for information regarding the deadly Operation Fast and Furious. We all know that Obama had nothing to do with that. Holder was off on a lark of his own, and how could such a busy and besieged President find the time to involve himself in something as trivial as a few hundred deaths, a dead Border Patrol agent, and a whole lot of “missing guns” floating around Mexico?

Once again, circumstances have overtaken the helpless President. Through no fault of his own, the Fates have thrown another unforeseen and unmanageable problem at him. Since he was too busy ducking flying circumstances, Obama didn’t know about the gun-running scandal until this past Wednesday. Circumstances beyond his control have left him with only one practical solution to this unforeseen circumstance of a potential contempt of Congress citation for his Attorney General. He raised executive privilege and ordered Holder not to take any more crap from those fascist Republicans.

Naturally, he could have raised executive privilege as long as two years ago when Holder first began lying to Congress about what he knew and when he knew it about the deaths and gun-running. But he was swamped fending off all those other unforeseen circumstances and fate denied him the opportunity to act on the issue until Wednesday. Obama has learned that when faced with complicated circumstances beyond your control the best thing to do is nothing and pretend you’re doing something constructive.

But the President remains undaunted by cruel fate. When the going gets tough, the tough get out of town. And Obama picked the perfect place to visit until circumstances are more favorable to him. He’s going to Mexico. As best I can decipher the move, he’s going to talk with the Mexican President about the unfortunate and unforeseeable circumstances overwhelming them both coming out of the presence of scores of high-tech deadly arms now owned and operated by the Mexican drug cartels.

Obama has been victimized all of his life because he's half black. And in his role as the prime mover in to move toward utopian socialism in America he only failed because of the reactionary running dog elements in the Tea Party -- and you can't forget George W. Bush, architect of everything that went wrong during his four years as president.

Very powerful interview with the parents of Brian Terry. They and their son deserve better.

The American "people" will put up with a lot of crap from their politicians. This F&F will make Watergate look like child's play. No one died in Watergate, and an American law enforcement officer was killed and the politicians behind it are scrambling a dissembling and trying to hide behind each other so as to the truth not getting out.

Just saw Silverado again last night and the people will rise up and do what must be done, just like the boys did to corrupt Sheriff Brian Dennehey. Holder and Obama are done, and the citizens will make their "peaceful" decision come November. That is too good for the likes of these crooks, but there it is. As they leave, we need to ask them to make sure and leave the missing billions from the US Treasury that we can't seem to find.

We should treat them like the Romanians did to Ceausescu.

Hawk, I think the Obama quote you're looking for is this:

"Now, some have said I blame too many problems on my predecessor, but let's not forget that's a practice that was initiated by George W. Bush."

You left out the abject racism of the American people, how can he possibly govern when people hate his black side so much.

I’ve never in my life seen a more contemptible person, the best description…a petulant child. He’s the perfect amalgamation of the ‘60s radical, with utter disdain for all things American, most especially The Constitution, and determined to settle the score – - whatever in the Hell that is in his feeble mind. Remember, “he’s the one that we’ve waited for.” The damage he’s done to our Republic, will take a decade to unwind, with the unaccountable Czars, and their illegal meddling. My contention with Barry is an old saw at this point, but bears repeating, he was never supposed to be a leader, but keep the American people hypnotized with his wonderful speechifying, while others dissembled our great land. Now with the country spinning down the drain, courtesy of harebrained liberal policies, he’s the last man standing with no chair, and I believe the American people are going to deliver the mother of firings come November. As not to be called racist, we’ll say we fired his white side.

Oh, this is going to be one ugly election, gird your loins boys and girls, it’s gonna get rough.

Ooh, I've got one! How about "I shall resign the Presidency, effective noon tomorrow"?

Holder is an utter disgrace and protecting him is a disgrace, and I'm glad the Republicans are keeping up the pressure, though I don't know how much this actually resonates with the public at large.

I am reminded about the CEO who gives instructions to his successor . . . . .
Certainly, the Holder thing is a disgrace, but they definitely are hoping to push it back until after the election.

LL - he should only have been victimized for half his life then ;)

Rav - if he resigned tomorrow, it would be bad for two reasons. First, Biden would have his had on the nuclear suitcase, and 2) Enough time for Hillary cakes to "reluctantly" accept a draft. I know, I know, she has her own baggage, but she is a) NOT Obama and B) the press really , really likes her, just like Sally Fields.

We have forgotten this will be the most transparent Administration to ever occupy the White House.
Didn't bo say those very words in future tense about four years ago?
His can of black paint is almost empty and I hope our electorate does not replenish it.
As for Holder at least there is not enough time available to get him convicted of any thing and still have the opportunity for bo to pardon him.
Retraction, how can that be a re validation of any thing Holder has said since?
Holder would have been a better course for Congress to pursue for lying than some athlete
whose job was just entertainment.

tryanmax's quote is more likely, but I prefer T-Rav's!!!!

when all of this finally comes out, now that TOTUS has invoked Exec Priv, how can he NOT get tarred with the F&F brush???

LL Wasn't Obama only half-victimized? It's all so damned silly and such a lousy excuse for his inaction. And when he does finally get around to acting, he gets it wrong. Pathetic. But that's all just circumstantial evidence.

On the F&F topic, it is interesting that almost every Op/Ed piece I have read across the spectrum (except HuffPo of course), they are all in agreement that there is a "there, there" that needs to be investigated especially in light of Obama's invocation of Executive Privilege. They are all wondering what he is hiding and why he is protecting Holder and why he waited over a year.

Because as we all know, if it had anything what so ever to do with Bush or any other reason besides Holder/Obama shenanigans, the docs would have already been leaked to the NYT.

Anthony: I saw that yesterday. It was painful to watch. These are decent, not very complicated people who have lost a son and only want straight answers. Their pleas have been ignored, and when the president's press secretary is asked about it, he can't even get the family's name right. Here's the clickable link: Brian Terry's Parents.

Patriot: I've been through Iran-Contra and Watergate, and this is at least as bad, and possibly worse. As this develops, the reactions are more mixed than people would expect if they haven't seen those prior scandals. Eventually, though, the inevitable question comes up, and that's when the general sentiment coalesces: "What are they hiding?" The more they try to cover up and make excuses, the more people ask the question from the other two uproars: "What did Holder know, and when did he know it?" And then, "why is the President involved in a coverup?"

tryanmax: Excellent! LOL

Fred Thompson: "...but I am not aware of any court case that has upheld the right to treat communications between people who work in a department, such as Justice, as privileged. In fact, recently the D.C. Court of Appeals held just the opposite.
Nevertheless, I believe these intra-department communications are precisely the kind of documents that Obama is claiming are privileged. If in fact the documents, or some of them, were sent to the president or his White House aides, then the president’s claim would be stronger. But it would also mean he or his staff was much more involved in Fast and Furious than anyone knew."

Stan: Ah, yes, another circumstance beyond his control. Cruel fate brought him into office during a resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan and the Neo-Nazis. Who knew?

But he did send forth his botoxed beauty and former Speaker, Pelosi, to explain what this is really all about. The racist Republicans have to get Holder because he's trying to stop voter suppression. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond his control, all Republicans and half the Democrats know that Nancy Pelosi is stark, staring nuts.

Unknown said...

T-Rav: Yeah. How about that? We should be so lucky. Of course that would mean we would go from a president who is batted about by circumstances beyond his control to a president who is batted about by circumstances he can't understand.

Unknown said...

Andrew: I touched on that question in my response to Patriot. I'm going to risk a prediction. If past patterns hold, this scandal has only begun to grow, and Obama's assertion of executive privilege is the watershed moment. Particularly apt is the Watergate parallel. It started out with a small news item about a burglary, and ended up bringing down a presidency. Even the Washington Post, a key player in Watergate, is starting to question the President's motives. But I don't expect the Post to be the major player in this one. The MSM will be overly solicitous of the President's position (probably with only partial support for it), but now we have the internet, the blogs, and Fox News. I don't think there's sufficient time to bring this President down during his term in office, but this betrayal of the public trust may be the straw that breaks the came's back with independents and Democrats of conscience at the polls in November.

Unknown said...

Tennessee: I hadn't seen your comment yet, but obviously we are two great minds running in the same channel. "Half-victimized." LOL

I'm also reminded of an old joke, and it was one of those Democrat-inspired violent jokes (but funny nevertheless): "What are the instructions to the Secret Service if President [George H. W.] Bush were assassinated?" "Shoot the Vice President."

Unknown said...

Tehachapi Tom: The best thing Obama could do for himself right now is to cheat, very publicly, on Michelle. It would knock Fast and Furious off the front pages, but he would get re-elected because it's "only about sex." Even better, he could cheat on Michelle with Barney Frank, thus securing 100% of the votes of one of his bases at the polls.

LawHawk and Anthony, at first I just had an intense dislike for Jay Carney, but this...what an absolute jackass. I can't stand the sight of that smug little f@#$er. That exchange alone makes me want to see multiple Administration officials go down for this bull.

rlaWTX: Circumstances have put poor innocent Obama into a "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't" situation that will only get worse for him with time. As I've said, and will continue to say, the refrain will be "what is he hiding?" If he reveals the truth, he's finished. If he continues to do a bad imitation of Nixon, he's finished. My temporary rush of Schadenfreude is immeasurable. It couldn't happen to a nicer person. LOL

Unknown said...

Bev: I caught that, and I'm sure most of the American people who watched that press conference caught it as well. The utter disdain and lack of empathy this administration has shown for the Terry family is beneath contempt.

Unknown said...

T-Rav: Carney is an obnoxious twit. He's like the geek the bad boys use as their front man. He also strikes me as the type who will wait for Obama's defeat, then write a "tell-all" book about his experiences and the deviousness of the Obama team which led him down the primrose path. Like John Dean's book Blind Ambition about the Nixon administration, he will paint himself as complicit but only as a naive victim of evil forces. Then, like David Brock of Media Matters, he will turn his coat and seek funding from the other side to advance his own blind ambition.

T-Rav said...

LawHawk, if that's the case, I sincerely hope every right-wing organ kicks him to the door. Twerp.

I'm glad to see the WH press corpse starting to laugh at Jay Smarmey whenever he tries to lie his ass off regarding his scam of a boss.

They will be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes.........

Unknown said...

tryanmax: Great comparison. Obama repeated an admitted failure from the Bush administration, increased it by a factor of ten, and when it also failed in deadly fashion, by the same factor of ten, he blames it on Bush.

Unknown said...

Patriot: I meant to mention the laughter at Carney's lame defense, but I'm glad you did. Carney got a deer-in-the-headlights look when it erupted. The last thing these pious hypocrites in the Obama administration want is their own sycophants laughing at them.

T-Rav said...

Yes, and let's not forget, the Bush administration's gunrunning operations were done in communication with Mexican authorities. The Obama version was carried out while deliberately leaving said authorities in the dark the entire time. But yeah, other than that and the fact that Bush's people suspended the operation when they realized they couldn't easily keep track of the weapons, they're totally the same thing.

Unknown said...

T-Rav: And once again we see the irony which entirely escapes the Holder/Obama crowd. The Bush administration did work in concert with the Mexican government rather than keeping it in the dark. It also managed to trace most of the weapons and affect arrests as intended. But a few of the weapons disappeared in the process, and a "few" was too much for the Bush administration to tolerate. How could the hapless Holder not know that if a few guns being run and a few guns being lost would be a disaster when a whole lot of guns were run and a whole lot of guns went missing? This was either grossly negligent or intentional, and either way Holder should be dismissed. And also either way, as Harry Truman said, the buck stops at the President's desk. He put this hopelessly incompetent political hack into the job of America's "top cop," and if he had any decency at all, he would 'fess up and get rid of him. But they are two of a kind, and it's very likely that Holder was acting with Obama's knowledge and perhaps his enthusiastic approval. The assertion of executive privilege only drives that point home. Which brings us full circle back to the big question: "What is he hiding?"

Fast and Furius is Bush's fault. Did you not get the memo. He had a program that was similar but more control called Operation wildfire not sure. IT did not result in any border partrol agents getting killed or anything but obvioulsy Holder did it only cause Bush did it too.

Nevermind that Fast and Furius occured under his tenure. Funny how Bush never had any power to do anything while he was President but now that he is out Barack can't do anything because of what he did four years ago.
