For Whom The Poll Tolls

My next article is up at Big Hollywood! Go take a look: (Linky, Linky)! (It's at the film site too.)

It never rains, it pours when reality intrudes into leftist fantasy worlds. And this week it’s pouring harsh public opinion upon the little world created by Team Obama and the Pelosicrats. Indeed, public opinion has decidedly rejected them forthwith. . .

Let’s do these in bullet point format:

● As you all know, Obama’s approval rating keeps hitting new lows. Gallup has him at 39% approval and 54% disapproval. He's even fading among Democrats, with only 85% of liberal Democrats approving and only 67% of “conservative” Democrats. Maybe he’s just unlucky?

● Not surprisingly, 54% of voters say Obama is more liberal than they are, with only 12% feeling he is more conservative. Another 26% share his ideology. Thus, 38% of the country is stupid. These numbers are virtually identical for Congressional Democrats as well, thereby confirming the stupidity of the 38%.

● And the “generic Republican candidate” continues to beat Obama in a head-to-head match up for the fifth week in a row. Fortunately, we have plenty of generic Republicans hanging around.

● The generic ballot too continues to strongly favor Republicans, 44% to 37%.

● Even worse for the Obamacrats, the public rejects all their plans to fix Obama’s “bad luck” with the economy:

● A vast majority of voters (62% to 20%) say that cutting taxes is better than government spending when it comes to creating jobs. Ironically, that’s the one thing the Democrats won’t consider unless it’s targeted taxes to help certain industries. . . BUT
● 66% of Americans oppose giving targeted tax breaks to help certain companies or industries. They want the government to treat all companies and industries equally. Yeah, the public's funny that way.
● Similarly, Americans now firmly oppose the K Street/Establishment plan of tax code carve outs. Indeed, 64% of Americans want lower tax rates with fewer deductions. Only 16% want higher tax rates with lots of deductions. Somewhere lobbyists are crying right now like that 1970s commercial with the Indian. This is not good news for the establishment and the Democrats who see the handing out of goodies as a means to enrich themselves, and this gives a boost to the Republicans who have been trying to change this (like Sen. Coburn).

● Most Americans also say they are overtaxed. A full 74% say Americans should pay no more than 20% of their income in taxes. Another 55% favor a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage tax on their incomes. The one caveat on this is that 49% oppose eliminating the home mortgage deduction, although 47% favor limiting it to the “size of the average home mortgage.”

● The one good bit of news for the ObamaCrats appears to be that class warfare continues to work to a degree, with 64% of adults wrongly saying that the middle class pays a larger share of its income in taxes than the rich and 50% saying they are more likely to vote for a politician who promises to raise taxes only on the rich. But those results may not be as comforting for team Obama as they seem as they may be a reflection of the public’s anger at the K-Street manipulation of the tax code, with companies like GE managing record profits and yet paying $0 in taxes.
All in all, none of this is good news for the Democrats. The public sees themselves as overtaxed and unfairly taxed. Their solution is not more liberalism, but a flat tax stripped of K Street influence. They see tax cuts as the means to economic success for the country, not dependence on government spending. And they don’t seem to like the Democrats very much.

So much for the Democrat’s 2008 dream of a hard left turn for America.

Andrew: I'm loving this. As we've both pointed out before, if you're a Democratic President in trouble on the Democrat/liberal-skewed Gallup poll, you're really in trouble.

AndrewPrice said...

Lawhawk, Absolutely and I'm loving it too. By the time people like Gallup are telling Democrats they have problems, the ship is 90% sunk. And this administration is sunk!

T-Rav said...

Andrew, I'll add one more for you. Yesterday's Gallup poll showed that Obama's approval rating on the economy had tumbled all the way to...26 percent. His disapproval is at 71 percent. That's bad. That's getting into Congress territory.

Obama can't win with numbers like these. Are you hearing me, GOP leaders? That means you don't have to nominate a moderate because they're more "electable," because most of them could end up being "electable." (refrains from launching into yet another Mitt Romney-related tirade)

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav, That is horrible. I don't Bush even fell to these levels... of course, the MSM isn't mentioning that. Nor are they running polls every single day like they were under Bush. I think Obama is doomed.

And you're right, this means there is no reason to run a moderate. Almost any Republican can beat him this time. It's time to find a principled conservative and run with that!

Andrew, I love good news. Especially on a day like today.

Obama says: "Duh, uh, I don't think there will be a recession." And the stock market loses 400 points because of the recession.

Andrew,

I wonder when the DOJ gets around to investigating Gallup. Clearly the pollsters are doing this to embarrass The ONE. That company must be full of right-wing tea party terrorists just waiting the opportune time to damage The ONE. Maybe Homeland Security can get involved in this.

CrispyRice said...

I'll echo T-Rav's tirade! :D

This is good news, Andrew, but it just seems to me that even if people say they want "lower tax rates with fewer deductions" when their little pet deduction is suddenly on the chopping block, everyone screams.

The Dems have made their career out of screaming about the "right" cuts, eg "THEY want to cut social security!" It's never "They want to cut research funding on the mating habits of fruit flies!"

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, We need all the good news we can get -- especially on a day like this. Everyone set your retirement back 2 years....

AndrewPrice said...

Joel, You laugh, but think about what the left did to Rasmussen. He was their go-to guy in the 2000s when he had bad news for Bush. But the moment he had bad news for Obama, he became public enemy number one. They accused him of fraud, bias, distorting his results, using "unsound" methods (like from Apocalypse Now), and a whole host of other sins.

So don't think that a criminal investigation of a pollster with bad results for The One is beyond the reach of liberals.

AndrewPrice said...

Crispy, T-Rav often has good tirades! LOL!

That's true about the cuts. But I think the days of being able to say "I love cuts, I just won't agree to any particular cut" are over. The public wants cuts. So Republicans and Democrats will need to start offering them.

Also, I think that across the board cuts are things people will understand and if they are packaged correctly. But you're right that just starting to pick a handful of cuts and dribbling them out will only incite the interest groups.

Ed said...

Let me third the approval of T-Rav's rant. This is not the time to pick a RINO to try to sneak a candidate past the public. The public is ready for a real conservatives!

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, T-Rav is a popular guy. LOL! I agree, we absolutely should not waste this election on a fake conservative candidate. We need someone who can actually change America for the better, not someone who wants to go to Washington so they can reach across the aisle.

Joel Farnham said...

I wasn't laughing Andrew.
Investigations on S&P by the DOJ have started. Headed for a Banana Republic, aren't we?

AndrewPrice said...

Joel, Sadly, I didn't think you were. We really are in banana republic mode here.

On the one hand, I do think S&P needs to be investigated for what they did in 2008. I think they misled a lot of people and they were taking money from the people whose products they rated. BUT... the timing on this is 100% political. This is about them hurting Obama, not about what they did in 2008.

I wonder who DOJ will threaten next on behalf of Obama?

Ed said...

Andrew, Now we just need to solid conservative candidate. I read that article you linked to last night about Perry and it did not make me happy. Someone called him a Trojan Horse for big business, but reading that article, he's not even hiding it.

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, Right, we need to find solid conservatives. I guess we'll see. Perry doesn't thrill me, that's for sure. But I suspect he will be the frontrunner. He's probably better than Romney, but who knows. It's not an inspiration field at this point.

AndrewPrice said...

LOL! Did anybody see what Obama told the farmer? It's almost like a joke. The guy was concerned about new regulations being put on him and Obama responded:

“If you hear something is happening, but it hasn’t happened, don’t always believe what you hear.”

He's kidding right?

“No — and I’m serious about that.”

Then he told people not to get “all ginned up” about things that aren’t necessarily happening.

Like Obamacare? His carbon regulations? His raising CAFE standards? Or the dozens of other regs? This guy is an idiot.

BevfromNYC said...

So the government OWNs GM and Chrysler and Obama buys his Obama-Bus from Canada. Why? now don't get me wrong, I love Canadians, but what about Winnebago in Iowa?

AndrewPrice said...

Excellent question Bev. Why are we buying an RV from Canada when there are plenty of American makers?

Moreover, why are we taxpayers buying Obama a tour bus at all? This is a campaign tool, it has nothing to do with doing his job -- it's all about getting re-elected. He should have to pay for this himself. Not to mention that he took in a billion dollars... and yet, I'm supposed to contribute to buy him a tour bus? That really makes me angry.

Barry is on the ropes, and if we can keep some dumbass RINO from saving him, he will be destroyed in the polls in 2012 “…and the crowd erupts in shouts of joy!” You can be certain that statist Washington doesn’t want a shellacking, they want to keep the American voter in the milky middle ~ spit!~ enough of that already, we are being consumed by the left inch-by-inch, it’s time to say no more. We need a principled conservative, end of story.

Andrew: I saw it and almost threw something at the TV. Thanks to the EPA, thousands upon thousands of acres of former farmland are lying dried-up and cropless. And there's a lot of dust. As a result, they've imposed a 15 mph speed limit in all "dust areas," which includes mine. Now I can just see the EPA having me arrested and tried for treason or something because I was late picking up the grandkids and drove 20 mph to the bus stop. It's not bad enough that I have to worry about my CO2 emissions, now I have to worry about my deadly dust clouds. But then, I guess I'm just ginning this up.

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, I agree entirely. It's time to stop the statists and get a principled conservative in office who understands that the American public is sick of being taken for a ride both by government people and quasi-socialist corporate people.

AndrewPrice said...

Oh come on Lawhawk, now you're believing the things you know to be true. You just need to stop worrying about facts and pretend that nothing bad is happening. Then it will all work out ok.

** rolls eyes **

Yeah, I'm with you. I really despise Obama. Does he really think people are going to say, "oh yeah, we'll Obama told me not to believe the things I know to be true.... and he is the President.... so he must be right." What an ass!

Ug.

Ed said...

Bev and Andrew, I think the bus is ridiculous. How can he possibly justify that as something taxpayers should pay for?

AndrewPrice said...

Ed, I agree. It's ridiculous and I don't see how they can justify it. And I'll bet you the left will be crying foul when the next Republican President gets to use it.

DUQ said...

I love these numbers! :) Let's hope they stay this way until the election!

Writer X said...

Has Warren Buffett written his $5billion check to the government yet? *crickets chirping*

Frankly, I'm surprised Obama has a 39% approval. Look for that to get even worse as he's photographed slurping his vacation ice cream cones.

AndrewPrice said...

DUQ, Me too. Numbers like this make it possible for us to win 60 seats in the Senate too, and that would be hugely important!

AndrewPrice said...

Writer X, Warren Buffett has indeed NOT written a check to the Treasury. Imagine that.

But then, he didn't really want to pay more in taxes... he wants us to pay more in taxes.

On Obama's approval ratings, I saw a thing today about Maxine Waters talking about attacking Obama be he hasn't "done enough for us (blacks)." So things could start to get really ugly even within his base. Good!

T-Rav said...

Yay! I have popular tirades! :-D

On the "discussion" between Obama and the farmer, it's the same old story. Who are you going to believe, our Messiah or your lying eyes?
