In the left corner, we have Barack Obama. . . the Kenyan Nightmare. . . he floats like butter and stings like a B student at Grade Inflation University. Weighing in at 98 pounds, his best punch is a sucker punch recently renamed the Tucson Exploiter by his manager, Joey "Half-Truth" Biden. Barack lost his prior match to Ryan in a first round knock out at health care arena and has been on a career slide ever since. Tonight, he looks for a little revenge.
In the right corner, we have Paul “the Brain” Ryan, the pride of Wisconsin. Weighing in at 140 pounds, Ryan shows that brain beats brawn every time. His best punch is the Principled Hook, which he combines with the Factoid Jab for a devastating 1-2 combination. Managed by John "Tan King" Boehner, Ryan is fast, smart and a real up and comer. His goal tonight will be to take down Obama and prove that he deserves a title fight.
Tonight’s guest judges are the American people, who will be keeping score at home. And you're invited to talk about it here!
Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!!!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 228 of 228T-Rav, I don't know. They might not have shown the speech in California?
I don't think the media cares how untrue their meme is, they're going to keep pushing it in the hopes it takes hold.
Joel, You didn't miss anything -- cynicism and talking points. We'll see about Ryan. He's bright, but can he catch on with the people?
I have to study for a marketing test - - you guys will have to let me know how it goes.
T_Rav - shame on you for only now getting around to not watching CBS news
Indi, Two words: "collosal" and "failure."
Writer X, It absolutely felt like a high school level speech.
The one thing about Ryan that still troubles me is that he starts slowly and seems stiff. He should take an acting class to loosen up his style a bit.
Andrew,
I am going to make a couple of changes to the book review. I will send it by Friday.
Some info that leaps out from the book.... well.
Joel, No problem, take your time.
Ryan started out stiff, but he ended fine.
Hey, we have so many comments, we have a second page! Is that the first time that's happened?
Andrew: Okay, just wondering. I figured he'd be all over this.
Wow: 13 of the people in the Lutz group voted for Obama. Only two liked his speech.
Takeaway line: "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. He's talking about cutting spending; are you kidding me?"
Bev, Yes.
Joel, True. I honestly felt that he got the point that he was truly compelling -- it was hard not to watch him. He was likeable, he was clearly smart and knowledgeable, and he seemed very trustworthy.
My only concern is that he is not the kind of instantly charismatic guy that capture's the public's imagination, and that can be a problem in our modern election system where people judge more on star quality than things that matter more.
Wow, lots of typos. Obama's speech must have shut down part of my brain.
Jed, cut me some slack! Dan Rather still seemed like he had some integrity when I was a kid! Besides, you've gotta keep up on the enemy activity. You think I still watch the Today Show just because Al Roker makes me laugh?
T-Rav, What's NBC?
And Nancy "Cryptkeeper" Pelosi's on. Time to change the channel.
Andrew, I agree about Ryan. He's looks good, but he is a little stiff. But he was short and sweet and too the point.
Andrew,
I understand, except that Ryan captured you fast enough. All it will take now is more people trying to destroy what Ryan started today. It will be a welcome relief to Palin 24/7.
Andrew, I believe it was rumored to be a news network at some time in the past. Pretty outlandish, huh?
Bev, I would love to see Ryan as President, and I would definitely support him if he ran, but I am concerned that he's not "slick" enough for what the public wants. That's why I'd recommend he take an acting class to loosen him up. That works for some people.
Well, folks. I am signing off from the East Coast. I have to say, I have never laughed so hard during a SOTU address ever in my life! I was choking I was laughting so hard! Thanks...{{hick}}
It was nice to know that Obama can say "We". That was new.
Bev,
Obama was using the royal we.
Augh! Why is Nancy Pelosi still on TV? Go away!
Joel, They're going to have a hard time attacking Ryan because he doesn't give many openings. But no doubt they'll give it a shot.
Of course, in doing that, they may end up raising his profile, which could be a really good thing.
T_Rav, You're kidding? A news organization? Why, I never! LOL!
Good night Bev!
Goodnight Bev, thanks for sharing! :-)
I think I'm going to turn in too.
Goodnight everyone and thanks for coming!
Night guys. I am going to bed too.
Andrew, he isn't slick, but he's smart and seems to believe what he says. That is very important. You are right that he needs to loosen up. If we can put his brains and sincerity together with Palin's folksey ease, then we would have a great candidate. He is among the new stars of the party.
As fun as this has been, I'm gonna have to get off. This book on the "Enlightenment" (quotes intended) won't read itself, and of course I have to check out NRO's reaction. Thanks for the laughs, everyone, and good night!
