Obama Finally Has A Good Idea

Shown is a new Border Patrol recruit checking a local residence for illegal immigrants. At a rally in El Paso, Texas, the Panderer-in-Chief accused opponents of illegal immigration and open borders of "moving the goal posts" after his administration has given them "all the stuff they asked for." Those damned ingrates! "Maybe they'll need a moat. Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat. They'll never be satisfied."

The moat and alligators comment was preceded by: "Well now they're going to say we need to quadruple the border patrol. Or they'll want a higher fence." Yes, Mr. President--and your point? Obama made his comments in a town located right across the border from Ciudad Juarez, the home of beheadings, necklacing, and mass murder in the streets. Illegal immigration has already spilled across our borders and the narco-violence is following close behind.

Said Obama: "They wanted a fence. Well, that fence is now basically complete." Barack Obama is nothing if not an accomplished liar. The border is nearly 2,000 miles long. About 670 miles have been fenced, and much of that wouldn't stop a wily coyote. Richard M. Stana, who is the director of homeland security and justice issues at the Government Accountability Office blew a hole in Obama's statement by declaring: "The federal government can actually prevent or stop illegal entries into the United States along only 129 miles of the 1,954 mile-long United States/Mexico border." Much of that 129 miles is on the California border, leaving most of Arizona, New Mexico, and yes, Texas, to fend for themselves.

"Spillover violence" is a major issue for all of the border states. The House Homeland Security subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations and Management will shortly be conducting hearings into the topic under the leadership of Michael McCaul (R-TX). Needless to say, McCaul did not attend Obama's self-serving, immigrant-pandering, border-denying prevarication fiesta in El Paso.

Using the generous "we" instead of his usual self-aggrandizing "I," Obama went on to cite statistics that have next-to-nothing to do with his executive actions: "Over the past two-and-a-half years, we've seized 31% more drugs, 75% more currency, and 64% more weapons than before. Even as we've stepped up patrols, apprehensions along the border have been cut by nearly 40% from nearly two years ago--that means far fewer people are attempting to cross the border illegally." "We" is the appropriate word, since most of the plans were originated during the Bush administration, and have been implemented largely because of a strong push from Congressional and State House Republicans and border-state conservative Democrats.

He must be right though, because he has the support of the experts such as Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. I suspect they discussed the real plan, as he assured them that this is all a big show of strength that has two purposes. First, to claim that the status quo is just dandy, and no more border security is needed. Second, to use his brilliant enforcement of the law as the bargaining chip for reopening the talks about "comprehensive immigration reform" (aka "amnesty" or "the Future Welfare Democrats of America").

And let's not forget the temporarily-defunct DREAM Act. Obama trotted out several poster-children of illegal immigrants who managed to be lucky enough to be born in the United States. Cue the violins. These young people would be separated from their families if we sent their parents, brothers and sisters back to Mexico. But despite all the horrendous racist oppression of illegals by redneck ethnocentrists, these young people have attended American schools, learned English, and are ready to move on to college and becoming valuable American citizens. For reasons rather apparent, he didn't trot out too many of the young illegal immigrants who have done the same thing, on the taxpayers' money.

Obviously, Obama is setting the stage for chain immigration with his purple prose. Speaking of the illegals, he hypocritically said: "They've broken the rules, and have cut in front of the line. And the truth is, the presence of so many illegal immigrants makes a mockery of all those who are trying to immigrate legally." But what he wants to do is redefine "illegal" and put them right back at the front of the line, starting with the illegal immigrant parents who dropped a baby or two on this side of the border. Eventually, there would be sufficient family connections for all of the illegals to move to the head of the line. Why be concerned with background, skills, intelligence, need, or contribution to the betterment of America as a whole when you can "reunite families?"

This is all pandering on a cosmic scale. Obama is an impresario at tugging on heartstrings, lying through his teeth, and setting lofty fantasy goals, while protecting his own behind by leaving the dirty work to others. If he were genuinely serious about comprehensive immigration reform, he would put together a package and present it to Congress instead of demagoguing for Hispanic votes. Instead he leaves the nefarious task of legalizing 12,000,000 illegals to the likes of Senator Harry Reid and Congressthing Nancy Pelosi.

Nice post and nice picture, Hawk. Obama is in full campaign now pandering heavily to his constituents. Whether it is Birther mockery, Obama-Rambo or pretending he gives a rat's ass about illegals, his purpose is to change the national narrative away from his Obysmal (pun intended) performance as the "job" president.

you should have been in texas the day barry was here. the guffawing and rolling of eyes at his lies was EPIC!

you know you're in for a pantload when the libs preface amnesty with, "we are a country of immigrants..."

and he mocks the right every moment of every day, which is fine by me. i look at it as solidifying his unemployment, one mock at a time.

When I heard about his comment "Maybe they'll need a moat. Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat. They'll never be satisfied". I thought "Well why not?!" He doesn't take anything seriously, and he doesn't care to, how sad that this is so evident in our President.

Tennessee: Obama-Rambo. Perfect. I just hope that a combination of legal immigrants who followed the rules to citizenship coalesces with the angry illegals which flouted the rules and aren't getting their promised instant citizenship and causes the Hispanic vote to drift away from its automatic support for all-show, no-go Democrats.

I'd like Obama to camp out on the border for a weekend without his entourage. Then let him spout his statistics and funny jokes again.

The Clueless President-in-Chief.

Patti: As usual, what we who weren't there got to see was the cheering crowds and Obama laughing at his own lame joke. Still, a moat and alligators to fill in the spaces that he lied about isn't a half-bad idea. But then we'd have to wait for the EPA to decide if it's pure enough water for the alligators and the FDA to decide if illegal immigrants are pure enough food for the alligators.

Jocelyn: So true. I'm amazed at Obama's ability to be both solemn and unserious at the same time.

He's also a bigot. Why only alligators? What does he have against crocodiles? Shouldn't alligators and crocodiles have equal access to moats? I think I'll call Eric Holder and ask him to look into this clear case of discrimination.

WriterX: Camp out? The Obamas? Their idea of roughing-it would be borrowing Qaddafi's tent, surrounded by a platoon of armed guards and an EPA Superfund cleanup crew. They'd be the only campers in the area with room service.

I am all for a moat with alligators. . . endangered alligators so that the liberals get upset when the "undocumented invaders" try to eat them.

On a serious note, it's ridiculous that Obama thinks it's ok to ridicule 70% of the American public. This jerk needs to go. People should start carrying "Resign!" signs wherever he goes!

Andrew: It's amazing how truly tone-deaf this guy is, isn't it? Pander to illegals who can't (or shouldn't) vote, assume that all Hispanics are in favor of unrestricted immigration and amnesty, and insult everybody else. And while you're at it, parody the American people in a border state that has an illegal immigrant problem. Keep it up, Big O.
