No intro tonight, as the debate is about to start and I was out procuring basic foodstuffs, i.e. fast food. Tonight's debate is on CNN (here's the feed: LINK).
T-Rav apologizes for being late, but the sockpuppets got into a fight and a basketball game broke out. He'll join us as soon as possible.
As usual. . . there are no rules!
(P.S. The MSM has already projected Hillary the winner tonight. :))

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 305 of 305I'm not surprised about Romney either. On Huntsman, I do have to say that he's actually given real answers in prior debates. It sounds more like platitudes today.
Paul seems a little put upon tonight.
tryanmax: It is. After you use it, you feel fresh and sandy all over.
This is only my third I've been able to watch, so I was going on assumption about Huntsman. That, and all the Indies love him, so...
Andrew,
I think Ron Paul might have a kinipcion fit if they don't ask him more questions.
Yeah, our border with Canada is a mess.
LawHawk, so it's like Lava?
Joel, It wouldn't surprise me.
A Monroe Doctrine? Is he claiming Mexico is being taken over by Iran?
What
a
f*ing
idiot.
try,
Lava is gentle and sweet to your skin. This stuff isn't.
"state with the longest border right now..."? Does Blitz know something we don't?
And HOW DOES A FENCE STOP IRAN FROM TAKING OVER MEXICO!!!!
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
Paul makes sense again.
Paul thinks we can solve the border problem by legalizing drugs. Everything else is secondary. I think I know why he wants them legalized.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
Paul's is a good voice to have in the foreign policy debate, so long as you don't let him write the whole thing.
"An insecure border is a nation security threat."
Bingo.
I just want free access to heroin so I can kick this meth habit.
"Enforce the laws that are already there. We don't need new laws."
YES!!!
Santorum's parents came here from Mars.
And "empower the states"! Yay!
Aw, cut the crap. We're all the sons and daughters of immigrants.
Cut the Reagan references already. Especially if you're only going to keep using the same one over and over.
Did he just slam Reaganomics?!!
Where's my pitchfork!
Cain is stupid. That is the latest from our side right, as well as the MSM?
Any one who still thinks that either lies or hasn't listened to this debate.
LawHawk, not the Indians, you prejudiced jerk.
that's called the DREAM Act.
Newt is offering amnesty he just won't say the word.
Joel, doesn't change the fact that he paused for 11 seconds. Do you realize how many nukes Iran could launch at us in 11 seconds?
This question is kinda dumb.
Try
That is supposed to be Native Americans. And they too came here over the land bridge that no longer exists.
Score for Bachmann!
Gingrich is right about the Reagan amnesty being based on figures that were not adhered to in the subsequent years. This time it would be a lot worse.
Callin' out Newt! Cool.
tryanmax: They had to come from somewhere else. LOL
Joel, as long as I'm eating turkey on Thursday, I don't care what we call 'em.
Newt is saying local governments can make people legal. That's called amnesty done at the local level where Newt won't get the blame.
That's a total BS answer.
Good for Bachmann for taking him down on this.
Hey,
Eleven seconds are an eternity in sports and a lifetime watching video. Every where else, it is minuscule.
Romney is half right... as always.
Newt is talking out both sides of his mouth here. And this sounds a lot like... "you ain't got a heart."
Securing the border is not "the real issue." The real issue is what to do about the people who are already here and those who find a way around the border.
Uh oh, the media tells me my crush on Cain is over, but after this, I just can't have a crush on Newt. Whoever shall I crush on?
No one wants to answer this question about the illegals already here.
Frankly, I'm so sick of this issue, I'd settle for a secure border and putting off the amnesty/deportation question.
Romney sounds like he is buying people when he talks about bringing people here.
"We'd like to bring everybody into this conversation (except Cain)."
On Cain, I don't know if he's had enough exposure tonight, but he's been brilliant when he's spoken.
Newt has hurt himself. In fact, I've got friends who JUST said, "I do not trust Newt, I think I'm at the point I would rather have Romney than Newt."
How many questions did Cain get?
How many questions did Gingrich change?
How many questions did Romney evade?
How many questions did People fall asleep when Huntsman talked?
I do think that securing the border may be more important at this particular time than what we do with those already here only because until we secure the border, the goal lines will keep moving as more illegals enter. First, stability, then a program for what to do with those already here.
Newt is striking me more as a Chameleon.
Do all these Heritage people have beards?
If only he were a Gecko, at least he could save me money on my car insurance.
Well, if that's the case, I guess I couldn't work at Heritage.
I think Cain is wandering a bit on the issue of the no-fly zone over Syria.
Kind of shifted topic, but still a good answer from Cain.
tryanmax, Good way to put it. In the prior debates, he seemed like a guy who had a lot ideas and wasn't afraid to share them (true or not).
Tonight, he sounds like someone trying to blend his answer to attract the audience.
I don't know who Newt is tonight.
Cain gave the only answer that really made sense about a no-fly zone.
I'll be honest, I don't get this no-fly zone over Syria question.
I hate it when Huntsman is right.
God, I hate you Huntsman. He's 100% right on this.
I wouldn't call it wandering when Cain wants it to come back to US being strong. Militarily and Economically.
Foreign policy should.
tryanmax, A no fly zone is a way to act like we're doing something when we really aren't.
So do the Independents that are in love with him. They only like him when he is wrong.
no beard... ;)
tryanmax: Yes, it's like Lava, only it's held together with goat fat.
Oh, well then, I guess I did get the question. Thanks, Andrew.
Who is al shabob?
Tuck in for some classic Ron Paul craziness!
"I don't think we would like that." LOL! Quote of the night.
Paul's off and running again. Al Qaeda wouldn't exist if we didn't have bases in Saudi Arabia. Aw, c'mon, Ron.
Ron is right about a no-fly zone when you aren't in a war.
Joel, al shabob is a member of al Shanana.
Hey, Romney is mostly right, and again mentions a mutual fund I used to own.
Andrew,
Isn't that group from the sixties? Or is it a re-group from the eighties?
"a no drive zone" -- that's actually pretty brilliant.
That's the best question I've heard all night!
1970s Joel! They were in Grease and had their own television show. They're like a 1950s tribute act. :)
LINK.
When did Hugo become Oogo?
SHUT UP, RON!
I think California is destined for the ash heap of history too.
Perry's answer, I like.
Nuke Latin America too!
Great answer by Cain! He must read Commentarama! :)
Paul just doesn't know his history. He says all they want in Afghanistan is for us to get out, as if the Afghans weren't primitive warriors for Mohammed. Hitler said after Munich that he had no further territorial demands in Europe. That was just before he launched WW II. Afghanistan may be a minor threat right now, but radical Islam threatens the entire world.
The greatest threat to the US is the re-election of Obama.
Future Newsweek cover story: "We're all Latinos now."
Cain's answer is also very good.
Woo hoo! We survived another one!
Speak for yourself. I'm gonna go O.D. on whatever's in the medicine cabinet.
I give Wolf Blitzer a lot of points. He did a great job tonight. Bravo.
I know MSM will try to portray Cain as the loser tonight. Which nominal Conservative voice will follow suit?
tryanmax, Best of luck there!
First, Ingraham. She's always first on the anti-Cain wagon.
Joel, Good question.
I think Cain won tonight and may have won big.
Newt may have really blown it tonight.
Unfortunately, I don't think one can O.D. on Affrin.
I heard Cain's words coming out of a lot of other candidates' mouths. That alone makes him the winner.
Newt totally miscalculated tonight. Which only shows he's probably been calculating all along.
Cain didn't have one false step tonight. Even though LawHawk thought he wandered.
Gingrich, what can I say? Washington is now in his blood.
Huntsman, he can afford to go all out conservative now. No one believes him.
Santorim better get some smart pills or stay away from debates.
Bachmann, some good answers, but I still can see her going to the umpires and asking for easy balls thrown to her children and calling for Nerf balls for schools.
Ron Paul is kooky. He didn't disappoint me.
Romney, didn't he look good in that tie?
Perry did speak tonight, didn't he?
tryanmax, I agree about Newt. His performance felt very cynical and it called into question again what he believes. But even beyond that, I think Newt really blew it tonight on several issues especially immigration. I think that will kill him.
Joel, I agree with your breakdown.
By the way, the CNN panel is pimping Newt... they must be desperate.
Mea culpa, folks. The fight that turned into a basketball game went far longer than I was planning, and I just got back to my computer. My sockpuppets hang their heads in shame, and the kittens are laughing at us.
T-Rav, That's ok, everyone deserves a night off. But next time, you need to tell your college to move the game! ;)
Did your guys win?
Andrew, we lost, but sadly I was expecting it. (By the way, it's "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out," not "basketball game." Dummy.)
Just spent the last five minutes browsing through the comments, and it looks like Cain won, Romney, Perry, and Santorum were idiots, and everyone else was so-so. Do I have that pegged about right? Not that I'm asking you to spoil your inevitable debate recap or anything...
P.S. Thanks to everyone who stepped up in my unfortunate absence!
T-Rav, What is "hockey"? Isn't that a sport that once existed in this country before they went on strike and then cut a deal with a bad network and vanished off the face of the Earth?
Not quite. Gingrich was possibly a huge loser. Santorum surprised, but who cares. I'd say Romney didn't lose as well. Wouldn't want to spoil it though. :)
It seems as though the comments are turned off on the wrap-up. Was that intentional?
tryanmax, No, that was a blogger error. It's been fixed. Sorry about that.
