Conspicuous By Their Absence

Pictured is Barack Obama enjoying a chat with his fellow socialists at The Summit of the Americas. Nobody can deny that Obama works very hard at becoming educated on nearly everything. In this case, he was picking up tips about promoting business turnarounds with the finest of Marxist economists in preparation for this last Thursday's Jobs Summit. He learned a lot. Most importantly, he learned how to exclude those powerful forces which might oppose his policies because they actually know what they're talking about.

At the Jobs Summit, Obama grinned and shook hands with the giant corporate moguls, socialist economists, and academics who have never personally had to make a payroll. He took time to praise the large union presence in the audience and on the panels. Government employees abounded. And of course there were the Obamacrats from the House and Senate who can't balance their own Congressional checkbooks, and have never actually worked a day outside government or run any business larger than a peanut stand. The moguls have experience in gaining MBAs and plotting hostile takeovers, but have never had to look an employee directly in the eye and say "no Christmas bonuses this year if we're going to keep the company afloat." Most have never worked in the industry that they are now in charge of and feel absolutely no genuine loyalty to the company or employees they preside over (unless it happens to be a bailout bank or auto giant). Almost none have ever built a successful business from the ground up.

So who's missing? All of the people who comprise the business-builders, roll-up-your-sleeves entrepeneurs, and the organizations that represent private small and medium sized businesses and closely held corporations which comprise the vast majority of money-making enterprises in America. No invites for the US Chamber of Commerce. Not a word of encouragement to the National Federation of Independent Businesses. No "come on over" for the National Association of Manufacturers. Conservatives and Republicans were scarcer than Democrats who pay their taxes.

The Chamber is the largest organization in America representing people who actually create jobs, produce something of value, and pay employees and payroll taxes that produce revenue for the fools running America's government. Dangerous people, if you're a big government socialist. So you simply don't invite them to a summit on a topic that they know everything about and you know nothing about--the creation of jobs and real wealth. Make sure that nobody at your summit has the least clue as to where money actually comes from (other than printing presses at the mint). Exclude any capitalist who doesn't think that capitalism means tossing financial papers around while stealing from the people who actually earn the money.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Tom Donohue made the mistake of sending a letter to the Messiah on November 30 stating: "On behalf of the many members of the US Chamber throughout the country, I would like to lend our enthusiastic support this this week's White House jobs forum. No issue is more important to the American people right now than renewing our country's economic prosperity. We must have a laser focus on creating the jobs Americans want and need." Well, that's general enough to get an invitation, right?

Unfortunately, Donohue also listed topics he felt were vital to the summit:

> Doubling US exports in the next five years.
> Expanding private and public sector investments.
> Promoting healthy credit markets by creating economic stability that will encourage lending.
> Restore fiscal responsibility by curbing budget deficits.
> Advance pro-growth tax and regulatory policies.
> Reduce litigation.
> Educate and train the next generation of American workers.

That queered any possibility that the Chamber would be invited. Where's the stimulus of welfare? Where's the stimulus of union card check? Where's the stimulus of massive government hiring of the unqualified and undeserving (the best kind of job creation)? Where's the stimulus of allowing government bureaucrats and know-nothings to run your businesses? Where's the stimulus of high taxes for the wealth-creators so the less fortunate don't have to pay any taxes at all? Unacceptable. No invitation for you.

The latest unemployment figures just came out, and they dropped from 10.2% to a mere 10% plus. So the socialists must be doing something right. Never mind that the president promised that unemployment would never rise above 8.5%. Details. Three million Americans have lost their jobs, the bulk of them in the past six months, but Obama is still blaming it on Bush.

The Chamber and the mid-level employers all know that unemployment will remain at 10% or climb in the future months because of the enormous spending of the Obama administration along with crippling new taxes imposed on businesses which now cannot afford to hire new employees or expand their businesses. And cap 'n tax and nationalized medicine haven't even come into play yet. They also know that creating a new government job increases the tax burden because the government employee doesn't produce anything, let alone a profit. Putting three million people on the government payroll is about the most counterproductive thing that could possibly be done. Newly-created government jobs aren't jobs, they're welfare in disguise.

So Obama finishes up another completely useless "summit." Rah-rah, blah-blah, jaw-jaw, and go on destroying the American economy on the advice of the enthusiastic crowd that wouldn't understand how wealth is created if the formula were tattooed on the inside of their eyelids. Time to rush off to join in a summit with the Eurosocialists in Copenhagen so they can have some more discussions on how to destroy the industrialized west with junk science curbing of global warming by killing energy-production and taxing what's left into oblivion. I'm applying for the government position of inspector of the caves we'll be living in without light, heat or food. Unless I can get that job aboard Al Gore's floating mansion.

LawHawk,

I have an exception to your post. Peanut stand? If one of them ran a peanut stand, he or she would have been disqualified to attend. Other than that, excellent post.

The whole composition of the 'jobs' summit made me laugh, Hawk. You are exactly right, what is the good of these things if you don't bring people who can actually help? I can hardly wait to ignore his Tuesday night blab and borathon.

I hear he's going to share his finding with us in a speech Tuesday night. . . probably pre-empt another Charlie Brown special.

Joel: And they would have had to feed the elephants, that most hated symbol of the Republican Party. Double disqualification. I sit corrected. LOL

Tennessee: "The show's the thing." The Democrats care considerably more about putting on a show than they do about actually dealing with a serious problem with genuine solutions which don't comport with their Broadway/socialist agenda.

Andrew: Oh, dear God! He's going to have another speech? Respite, respite, respite and nepenthe. Is there no balm in Gilead? Now he's got me quoting the Bible! I guess that's a good thing.

Lawhawk--The Small Business Association wasn't invited either. But I noticed that there seemed to be a very large number of students who have probably never worked a day in their lives and who have no idea where wealth-creation comes from. After all, their professors have told them that wealth comes from the government.

HamiltonsGhost: The farther from economic reality any group is, the larger the contingent at an Obama gabfest. Theories which have been proven wrong time out of mind are repeated in some exotic new form, and simple bottom-line economics with proven track records are entirely ignored. Students are the largest group of know-nothings who have opinions on everything, so naturally when their messiah speaks, they come, they hear, they applaud.

Hamilton's Ghost,

Those students you speak of, must have been vetted for not ever having held a job, nor had to live off of what one earns. In other words, trust fund kids whose parents are working for the government in one capacity or another.

JoelFarnham--I'm sure you're right. The colleges and unversities are also notorious for hiring students for minimum wage (or less), giving them their first taste of "work." Most have no idea that their wages are being paid by their parents and the other taxpayers. It either comes from the government (public universities) or the beneficent administration (private schools). Their job performance is expected to be minimal, so they are well-prepared for future government, academic, or union jobs.

It never ceases to amaze me how the ignorant masses can get together to espouse their groupthink, and think they're conducting a "forum" or a "summit." They could just mail it in. Forums and summits include more than one point of view. When was the last time anyone saw that with an Obama gathering?

CalFederalist: It's a national version of what we've had here in San Francisco for years. A two-party system comprised of the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. They don't argue about ends, only about means to those ends. Republicans had better wake up soon, or they're going to find themselves facing on a national level what they've faced here for decades--the complete disappearance of the party.

These creeps are Keynesians. Nothing new here. They believe that the New Deal didn’t work because Roosevelt didn’t spend enough money. Shoot ahead seventy plus years, and the children and the grandchildren (‘60s radicals) of the New Deal are in charge, and they are committed to this death spiral of the USA. In their pea brains, left in the rubble will be, utopia, the Age of Aquarius, The Woodstock Nation, in other words lazy do nothings waiting for their government cheese. Then, and only then will the moral equivalence debate have a chance to be settled in their feeble egalitarian minds. They’ve forgotten one thing, …us! The American people, and the push back will be fierce, and sustained. I think for once in my life we have a chance to utterly defeat these leftist traitors, and this time for keeps. Their grand plans will only work with the consent of the governed, consent denied.

StanH: I hope and pray you're right. I am finally feeling optimistic for the first time in a long while. The utter idiocy and destructiveness of socialism and government bungling are finally becoming apparent even to the sheep who have followed the leader without a single bleat.
