Question: Cast The Administration

A Hollywood casting agent called us last night. They're putting together Obama The Movie and the agent wanted to know who we would cast. I figured we'd throw this open to you. What do you think? Denzel as Obama? Leslie Nielson as Biden? Hitler's corpse as Pelosi?

I love and hate questions like this. :-)

Some of these ideas may have been inspired by similar articles I've read elsewhere and are presented in the order that I can think of them.

President Obama: I'll cop out and go the Richard Donner Superman route: "Cast an unknown and surround him with established actors." (Will Smith and Denzel Washington don't do it for me in this instance)

Michelle Obama: Regina King

Rahm Emanuel: Jeremy Piven (this works on a few different levels)

Tim Geithner: William Atherton

Robert Gates: Len Cariou

Eric Holder: does Stedman Graham act?

Hilary Clinton: I wonder if Jan Hooks would be willing to reprise her old SNL caricature

Joe Biden: I'm torn between Christopher Plummer (could we buy him as a schlub?) and Harrison Ford (he's got the smile down)

Nancy Pelosi: Jessica Walter

Chuck Schumer: Richard Fancy (he played Mr. Lippman on Seinfeld)

Obama--Dopey. Biden--Happy. Pelosi--Evil Queen. Reid--Sleepy. Holder--Grumpy. Clinton--Sneezy. Gates--Doc. Geithner--Bashful (only because there wasn't a dwarf named Cheater). Bonus: Michelle--The Mirror on the Wall.

Scott, You've got some interesting choices there. I like Atherton as Geithner a lot -- very well cast. And I think Piven as Emanuel is very original and really works as well.

I can't see Plummer or Ford as Biden though. They are both too "serious". Even when Biden is being serious, he just becomes vicious and stupid rather than just stupid. . . I can't see either actor doing that well. An aged Steven Weber might make a better Biden.

P.S. I fully understand why you love and hate these questions, but it's fun to think about. I actually had never thought of Atherton or Piven, but they really do work.

Lawhawk, I suspect you won't make it as a casting agent. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something tells me that just won't work! LOL

Andrew: Do you mean those actors aren't real? Aw,nuts.

Iman Crossan stars as BHO
Aisha Taylor as Michelle, his fox
Robert Downey as the Rahmster
Joe Biden - there is a guy who has done a lot of commercials and once had a small role on the t.v.show as a boyfriend to one of the regulars who forgot to tell his girlfriend he was married. I'll research and provide his name.
Hillary - Teresa Barnwell

Lawhawk, No, they're real. . . they just don't work together -- they split years ago. ;-)

Pat Finn is the actor I was trying to think of for Biden. Sorry for the double post earlier. I think it was due to multiple people simultaneously posting according to an eblogger message

Jed, You've pick a Hillary impersonator. LOL! Very clever my friend.

Here's her link if anyone is interested:

Hillary 2

Tennessee Jed said...

Andrew - well, I always thought of Hillary as kind of an impersonator herself, you know?

AndrewPrice said...

Jed, I can't dispute that, especially after reading Game Change. It makes you wonder if she has any idea who she is.

When is Comedy Central going to do "Lil' 'Bama" or "That's My Obama"? Oh, I forgot that might be demeaning to the office of the President...

Obama - Morgan Freeman (he plays all the Af-Am Presidents and God, so that should fit nicely)
Michelle - Oprah Winfrey
Rahm Emanuel - Paul Reizer
Timmy Geithner - Tony Goldwyn
Joe Biden - A couch
Nancy Pelosi - Joan Rivers
Hillary Clinton - Donna Hanover

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I love the Joan Rivers selection -- very appropriate! And the Oprah selection is a good one too. And of course, casting a couch for Biden is nearly perfect!

Jimmie Walker as Barry

The Wookie as Michele (this is an interchangeable role)

Biden ?

Martin Short as Rahm

Rosie O’Donnell as Hillary

Jimmy Walker, LOL!

And we're back!

Biden: I still don't know... what about Steve Martin with some slight prosthetics?

Barney Frank: I'll say Stephen Root but there's got to be someone better... maybe CGI? :-) Fred Armisen played a good Barney Frank once on SNL and it was actually a little better than his Obama impression

And others...

George W. Bush: Timothy Bottoms, who played him at least twice

Sarah Palin: Megan Mullally, and there's no way that ends well

Mike Huckabee: there's a sportscaster named Pat Murphy who works for WPEC-12, a CBS affiliate back in South Florida... he's not an actor and on further examination, the resemblance isn't quite there

John Edwards: Jack McBrayer (Kenneth the page from 30 Rock)... he just needs to add 15 pounds

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, You did better in round one!

Edwards is obviously Sam Neill. Talk about twins separated at birth!

Mullally for Palin? Too old. Stick with Fey.

Bottoms works, so does Root.

That guy who plays "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in the Dos Equis beer commercials would play a perfect Biden, although he'd need to shave the beard.

Pres. Obama? That's easy: Erkel.

Nancy Pelosi: Any corpse would do.

StanH - actually Chewbacca is much better looking than Michelle, so I don't think that would work. Some people have compared her to Klingons, but I think Klingons are much better looking as well. TJ

AndrewPrice said...

TJ, Yeah, that does seem unfair to both Wookies and Klingons. Maybe the creature from Alien?

Andrew - sounds good to me! TJ

Too bad Buddy Hackett isn't still around. He'd have made a great Barney Frank.
