Tick, tick, tick. As the clock ticks down to Monday, April 18 11:59pm deadline...tick, tick, tick...feel free to vent! Don't hold back. Purge your system of tax anxiety. Rail against "The Man"! But just remember one thing...
don't forget to sign your tax return!
Now, let the venting begin!

I wonder if Barbra Streisand, George Clooney, and Spielberg gave the money they gained from Bush tax cuts back to the goverment. What, no? You don't think they did. Well I'll be darned.
I on the other hand, don't feel right until I owe something since that means I minimized the bastards use of my tax money.
Tennessee - Please feel free to share this with any Liberals who wish to pay MORE taxes to alleviate our massive debt. You can tell them they don't have to wait for Congress to mandate MORE taxes, they can contribute today! And here is the info -
From the website of the Bureau of Public Debt -
Treasury Direct -

How do you make a contribution to reduce the debt?
There are two ways for you to make a contribution to reduce the debt:
You can make a contribution online either by credit card, checking or savings account at Pay.gov
You can write a check payable to the Bureau of the Public Debt, and in the memo section, notate that it's a Gift to reduce the Debt Held by the Public. Mail your check to:
Attn Dept G
Bureau of the Public Debt

Yes, this is very real and is part of the US Treasury Department.
So did anyone take advantage of this memorable date to go to any Tax Day Rallies by the Tea Party?
Vent? Why vent? I love the IRS. "The IRS is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life."
leave it to Andrew to channel Sinatra and liken the I.R.S. to laurence Harvey :D
T-Rav - Yes, we had a Tea Party in NYC at Foley Square/Thomas Paine Park in Downtown Manhattan. You would recognize the area if you ever watched Law and Order - it's in front of New York County Supreme Court building. Unfortunately, we did not get the turn out, but we were broadcast from coast to coast and beyond. And I saw that we were on Greta van Sustern's show last night. I was a "Marshall" and I actually had to have a few people "ejected" for being a nuisance. Two kids dressed up as Batman and Robin. The Police "Community Outreach" officers politely asked them to refrain from screaming "BATMAN AND ROBIN" at the top of their lungs. I have no idea why. I think they were shooting some kind of YouTube video...whatever. I'm the meany.
I can say the people are upset with the budget deal. I see things differently - more "glass have full". We need to keep the pressure up, but we held our ground. And most of all - we have to start somewhere! The first cut is always the hardest.
Lastly, I think (at least in NYC)this was the quietest, least advertised rally since the very first one in Feb. 2009.
Yes, Andrew, you are correct. Sorry. I too believe that IRS is the most hardest workingest, bestest most betterest agency in the entire US of A. They need raises...
Jed, I'm glad you caught that! LOL!
For those who don't know, that's sort of a quote from The Manchurian Candidate.... and that's about how I feel about the IRS. Grrrrrr.
Bev, I wish that worked, but there's no "said nice things about the IRS" deduction. Grrrr.
Andrew, I'm not shooting for any deductions. I just want them to leave me off their "list". Know what I mean?
However, ya' know, if there WAS a "by word" deduction for saying nice things about the IRS, think of ALL of the good will they would get! Maybe with all that positive reinforcement, they really would be a kinder, gentler IRS!
Bev, The problem is there would probably be some sort of test to make sure that you were serious about the nice things you said, and I could never pass that.
As for their list, I'm pretty sure I'm on it already no matter what. At least that's the message they've been sending me for years.
Paying taxes is patriotic. The taxman makes Santa Claus possible. Love the taxman. Love the taxman!
Oh, and we are watching this thread. It would be a real shame is something happened to your return. . .
I can't believe they actually gave us wage slaves extra days to file. If we had just begun Armageddon, our taxes would still be due on the 15th. But because of one holiday in D.C. and D.C. only (Emancipation Day), the whole nation gets a reprieve from filing. "Emancipation" is a great thing to celebrate, but I'd like to see a second emancipation--freedom from the damned tax code and the tyranny of the IRS.
Yes, paying taxes is patriotic. However, we really like when you say nice things about us, so we will make sure the IRS (not Andrew) does not bother you anymore. We are watching you, but in an entirely benevolent, kinder and gentler way.
LawHawk - Emancipation Day in Texas in June - Juneteenth (June 19th), so this fake Emancipation Day in DC is bogus. It's just another excuse for our Federal Employees to take another paid holiday at our expense...
Bev, Did you know that West Virginia has "Dependence Day"? It's the day they broke off from Virginia and became a ward of the federal government.
hold on....
Oh, I've been informed that's "Independence Day." Still, the ward of the state part is true.
Bev: Everything else in D.C. is fake, why not a holiday? Juneteenth at least has some history behind it.
LawHawk - Are you saying that Dorothy's "ruby slippers" aren't real? Why I saw them with my own eyes!
Bev: It's far worse than that. We have a CGI President who doesn't actually exist in the real world.
Bev, I went to the one in town this morning. It wasn't bad--there were only about a hundred people, which is what happens when you're in a university town and therefore addicted to government funding, and it was cold--but like yours, there was a lot of grousing about the budget deal. Being Mississippi, the complaints had just as much to do with Planned Parenthood not being defunded as with the amount of money being cut. I can respect that, though I'm still on the side of the deal.
We did not have anybody dressed up as superheroes, sorry to say. Probably would have frozen to death in their tights anyway.
Andrew, I've noticed you don't seem to think a lot of West Virginia. Not that I have a problem with that :-)
T_Rav, What's not to like? Unrepentant unemployed liberals, the "crazy check" most of them get from Social Security, near-total unionization, the meth-lab culture, alcoholism many times the national level, heavy inbreeding and massive numbers of sex crimes, collapsing towns that haven't been kept up "since the mill closed back in 1910", deep racism and heavy KKK membership, etc. It truly is a garden spot of humanity.
Ouch. I've only been through West Virginia a couple of times, but I did stop at a K-Mart once, and the people were...well, let's just say I grew up with southern Missouri hillbillies, and even I found them scary.
T_Rav, It's even worse than you think. A town out there about 1/30 the size of Colorado Springs had a higher number of sex crimes each year than Colorado Springs does. And they don't just go in for generic sex crimes like rape... no, they prefer to rape infants -- often relatives. One woman actually burned her name in the back of her 5 year old's neck with a cigarette right before I left.
Almost everyone I met was on disability, even though little was wrong with them except for a deep sprain to their motivation. They got it through a fake bipolar diagnosis.
Most were openly racist. I had more than one person ask me, "you don't represent n*ggers, do you?" Also, the things they wanted to sue for were incredible -- often self inflicted.
I had two clients who achieved 0.40 blood alcohol when they were pulled over (I thought you would die at .3, but apparently not if you train yourself). Another guy we had 23 beers in 2 hours before he convinced a friend of his to plunge a hunting knife into his ex-wife's boyfriend's chest.
I knew no one who didn't have at least one criminal conviction of some sort, including judges.
At one point, the locals were rigging juries against out of state companies and they were proud of this.
Most of the bars (called "clubs") had illegal slot machines, which the state legalized to get the revenue, so they switched to selling drugs.
I met coal miners who had been waiting to be called back for more than 5 years. I met steel workers who told me they never worked a day in their lives. I saw homes that I don't think viruses would live in. A lot of these places looked more like nests than anything a human would spend time in.
So yeah, I'm not really a fan.
I treat the IRS like an interest-free savings account - fewer hard feelings that way and a happy "dividend" in February!
I have to come to the defense of WVA - on one of the absolute worst days of my life, my mom & I drove west out of Alexandria, VA, through Front Royal, and up into eastern WVA - it was BEAUTIFUL!!!! It was peaceful. It was a perfect balm for a broken heart. Then at the top of the mtn, we got to a small town, and folks were gathering along the main road in lawn chairs. Mom waved, they waved back. We got to the other end of town and realized we had been the "pre-parade" - the twirlers and the band were warming up to head back the way we'd come. We stayed in an odd, and comfortable, motel on down the road. That afternoon/evening in WVA was a sanity-saver.
(although, I believe your every description of the underbelly - people suck. There are towns around here that I hear people say "it's such a nice place" about and I gag a bit after the stories I heard as a CASA and from other CASAs)
