Most of you are probably suffering from “NFL hangover,” so I’ll keep this short. . . no more than 15 pages, I promise. It turns out that our supposed brainiac President and his staff are idiots. I know this will shock you, but get this.
First, recall that our Kenyan overlord made a fool of himself with the timing of his jobs speech. He tried to steal the thunder from the Republican debate and ended up getting rolled by Boehner AND the NFL, and had to explain why such an urgent speech could wait until after he took the missus for a little luxury vacation. He ultimately attracted only 31 million viewers to this latest “most important speech of his Presidency.” That’s about 10% of the population. Apparently, the other 90% had something more important to do. Hence, this whole Winning The Future with jobs thing didn’t get off to a great start.
So, he tried to build momentum for his WTF jobs plan by spamming the media with lists of everyone who supports his plan. But not only were these the usual suspects who would have supported the plan even if it involved selling Americans to Brazilian medical clinics for spare parts, but Obama decided to send these alerts out one. . . e-mail. . . at. . . a. . . time. He sent about 50 in total before the blowback made him stop. Wrote one journalist: “The White House Press Office has vomited all over my inbox.”
Imagine that, a Kenyan spamming someone’s e-mail inbox? Unheard of.
Then, to shift blame to everyone except himself for his lack of urgency, Obama decided to demand that his jobs bill be passed RIGHT NOW!!! In fact, before the speech, he made a point of letting the press know that, for the first time in his administration, he would actually submit a bill to Congress so it could be passed immediately. Then he pounded away during and after the speech with “this bill is ready to be passed” and “pass the bill now.” Even his minions, like Valerie Jarrett have been going on MSNBC to say things like: “Congress should pass this bill right now.”
But there’s a problem. There's no bill. Team Obama hasn’t finished writing it yet. Hence, he’s an idiot.
And, this wasn’t the first time. Idiot boy has been running around the country whining that the Republican Congress hasn’t pass the free trade deals with Korean and a couple others. He even mentioned this in his jobs speech. The problem is, he has yet to submit those to Congress for approval.
This explains so much about the last couple years, doesn’t it? Our President is an idiot.

His faithful minions in the lame stream do try, but he makes it tough. In Knoxville, his faithful liberal editor headlined Independent Economists say Obama jobs plan will work (for now.) It was thingly guised even a moron could figure out what was going on.
Anyway, your post reminds me of a Monty Python skit about witches and ducks. Substitute "idiot" for "witch" and it takes you right there. Of course, I'm sure everyone has seen the famous "pass the bill" montage video clip by now.
Since when did the Democrats feel as though legislators - or just plain ordinary citizens would want to actually READ a bill before passing it?
Couldn't he just slip 2,000 blank pages to Congress, have them spend half a billion and then he could fill in the pages as necessary?
I mean there are precedents...
Ungh...it's Monday morning, why are there words in bold??
Interesting stuff, though, about our president being an idiot and all. In related news, I have just discovered that water is wet. :-)
Well, the last time they passed a monumental bill they didn't feel the need to read it. Now he wants them to skip all the formalities and just pass his speech as legislation. No need to actually write them anymore. That way he can't be held accountable for anything in the bill because he didn't actually put anything IN the bill. And, if...well actually..WHEN the Repubs refuse to pass a bill that isn't there, then THEY're the bad guys. [This sounds so familiar...]
I guess he's taking leadership advice from Chavez and Castro.
I'm shocked, shocked I tell you! Oh, wait that was a live wire...
Turns out I'm not so shocked about the revelation that TOTUS is an idiot. Although I am a teensy bit surprised that there wasn't a jobs bill sitting in the outhous -um- outbox...
Jed, You mean from the Holy Grail? Should we build a bridge out of the chosen one?
You're right about his minions struggling. They aren't seeing the humor in his stupidity anymore and while they know they can't say anything that would support Republicans, they're finding it harder and harder to support him!
LL, I want to laugh, but I fear you've given them ideas. They could start passing blank bills with the idea being that the President could fill those in as need. Oh boy!
Nice thinking... very evil... but nice!
T-Rav, Sheesh, you're upset about the bold words? I kept the page limit short and everything! I didn't even use my hypnotic Obama image that I made this weekend. Then you would really have been complaining!
In terms of water being wet, do tell? ;-)
And if you really, really think Obama is an idiot (I personally found this to be quite a surprise), please feel free to list his idiocy in the comments. Perhaps I've been missing something?
Bev, It sounds like the next step will be to not even bother with the bill, doesn't it?
I personally like LL's suggestion of just sending blank pages and filling them in as needed.
In all seriousness though, this actually isn't as stupid as it sounds so long as you have stupid followers and a willing media because he can now pretend the Republicans are dragging their feet, when really he's the one hiding the ball. That would never work for a Republican, but this should work quite well among Obama's base.
rlaWTX, On reflection, it's probably not all that shocking that Obama is an idiot, is it?
And you're right, you'd think they already have a jobs bill lying around somewhere? It's not like this one was anything new.
Andrew: Calling Obama an idiot is an insult to idiots. And have I mentioned that I hate Obama?
What? Grrr.
Tim Pawlenty just endorsed Mitt Romney. I'm taking him off my Christmas card list.
Lawhawk, I don't believe you've ever mentioned that.
My apologies to idiots everywhere.
the commenters and contributors hide their sentiments well around here...
I was looking at the paper this morning (at the oil change place) and saw an article about the R response during O's speech - it seems that they laughed and chuckled. Which was rude (apparently). I thought it was polite to laugh at someone's jokes...
This is about the best summation of what happened that I've read recently. :D
Although, I'll beg to differ. He's not an idiot. He's really hoping that Congress will "pass this bill NOW!" without there really being a bill. That would in effect give him unlimited, super-human POOOOWEEEERRRR over all he surveys!!!! (Cue booming echo, please.)
It's really just an end-run around the Constitution in his latest efforts to become supreme overlord. ;)
rlaWTX, Yes, our crowd plays their cards close to their vest around here and has a hard time expressing their full views about Obama. We should encourage them to come out of their shells!
Absolutely right, it is polite to laugh at someone's jokes. LOL!
I can't believe they're still upset about the Republicans being "rude" to Obama. Get over it. How would these people react if we started treated Obama like they treated Bush? Their tiny little hearts would probably explode.
Thanks Crispy! :-)
Yeah, this sounds like Obama's plan to exercise unlimited power, doesn't it?
The Constitution? What's that?
Andrew, a) don't tempt me, b) I'm taking Pawlenty off my everything list, and c) our newly discovered idiot just had another "pass the bill" press conference, despite the fact the bill won't actually reach Congress until this evening. I did not watch it, because I had class to attend to, so no, I will not be recapping it for anyone, nyah nyah nyah.
I have a really, really hard time getting behind Romney.
Also, I thought I heard this morning that some federal agency (maybe the NLRB?) put "card check" into effect by bureaucratic decree. Am I imagining that I heard that?
T-Rav,
Don't tempt me?! LOL!
Pawlenty's going on my sh#$ list.
I just saw on Yahoo that the Obamster had some ceremony to introduce the bill. He held up a copy, but he didn't actually flip it open. I'm betting it's full of either stick figures doing rude things to each other or the words "All spending and no fiscal discipline make Barack's base happy" over and over and over.
As for recapping, I believe he said the following:
"Uh... sign this bill or else."
"Uh... no, I don't know what's in it, but if we don't sign it, then nothing will happen and I can't get re-elected."
"Uh... you have to pass it if you want to read it... that's right, I wrote it, but you can't read it until you pass it."
Anybody catch anything else?
Crispy, The NLRB tried that a couple months back, but I haven't heard anything recent about it. Do you have a link?
Andrew, Idiot isn't quite the right word, but I'm not sure I can repeat the right word in mixed company. I really hate this bastard.
As for what he said at his press conference, he probably said something like this:
"I don't have a clue what I'm doing, so why don't you MSM people fill in the blanks for me and attribute something brilliant to me."
And they said, "yes master."
No, I heard it on the morning radio, which is why I'm not completely sure if I heard it correctly.
Andrew: The wildfires are still burning out of control here in the Tehachapi mountains. An anonymous source says that the Caliente fire was started by a guy with a last name that sounds like a bird of prey when he was burning the collected works of Barack Obama.
Ed, You aren't alone in your extreme not-love of this jerk. And you're right, the spam filter would not be amused either. (Actually, our spam filter doesn't seem to care about swearing... I'm not sure what it cares about frankly?)
Yep, I could easily see the MSM doing that for him.
Crispy, It could be the Boeing thing? It could be the several old issue? I'm just not sure. I haven't heard anything about it recently.
Lawhawk, I have no idea who you could possibly mean... but I commend him. A wildfire is a small price to pay to rid the world of written idiocy.
Speaking of TPaw & Romney, I got into another "who's on first" conversation about the R nominees. I'm sure that it is proof that we are all racists, but the usual response to Cain is "He's the black guy, right? I think I like him." I also gave my usual "You like RON PAUL!!??!??" response. These kids these days... ;)
I saw something on NRO a week or so ago that implied that Card Check via NLRB was a done deal... Didn't read the article though.
(and the stick figures comment made me laugh... thanks for the mental image.)
rlaWTX, You're welcome! When it comes to Obama, we need all the humor we can get! And frankly, I can see Obama doing that because I'm not sure how else he fills his time between golf games.
Yeah, these kids today! LOL! Of course, better Paul than Obama!
I'll see what I can find about the card check thing.
Excuse me?? As someone you would probably call a "kid," I think you all know how I feel about "RON PAUL!"
T-Rav, I thought you were a fan? (just kidding)
Still, you have to admit -- better Paul supporters than Obama supporters!
Probably one of the funniest posts evah! I still didn't understand why he needed to do the speech in front of congress. Why couldn't he have done it from his desk? A short 10-15 minute speech just prior to the game would have probably been watched more and had more effect. I used to think that he had a huge ego, but now I think he needs continual reaffirmation and he can't get that from the oval office. He needs to feel important. I think he may actually have a mental disease. Do you remember Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, or Bush getting as emotional about mundane stuff like Obama?
I have moved past hatred and now I pity him. He really needs to move on before the stress of the office kills him. Of course he has no true experience or skills so he will probably become a University professor or something.
In no way was I trying to imply that all "kids" are Paul-ites. It just seems to be more likely when the person with whom I am speaking is younger. My abject apologies for the misunderstanding.
(there were six 24-28yo, and there was only 1 vocal Paul-ite.)
Andrew, that is true. :-)
So I just read that Obama plans to pay for this jobs bill (Jake Tapper seems to have relayed this from WH sources) with $467 billion worth of elimination of tax breaks/credits for people making over $250,000 a year. And, as Obama himself admitted in his little speech last week, when he says "elimination of tax breaks," he of course means "tax increases." Yay.
T-Rav, another "shocker." I guess he will get his tax-break elimination/tax hike through executive order, which seems to be his favored method of "governing." This guy is a class A (insert preferred insult here). By the way, I hate obama.
Koshcat, Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
You may be onto something. He really flies off the handle every time anyone criticizes him. Sounds like he's super insecure?!
I figured he tried to do this before the Congress to give him speech more importance, i.e. so that people would fall for the hoopla without worrying about the substance. I saw it as an attempt to use the power of the White House to sell himself and his agenda for re-election. But you make a good point that this could be more than that -- this could be an attempt to "affirm" himself?
rlaWTX, I think T-Rav was just pulling your leg. We know that not all kids are Paulites.... just all of them except T-Rav!
And let me add, it horrifies me that I am calling 20-28 year olds "kids." How did that happen?!
T-Rav, I think he should "pay" for it by taxing the heck out of Warren Buffett and his five closest buddies.... and of course the 100% tax on income of rich actors and directors. Yep. I'll support that!
Tam, I couldn't have said it better about the guy being a "class A (insert insult here)"!! LOL!
I really wish he would go away.
Andrew, I would have said class AAA, but you know what happens to AAA ratings in obama's America.
Tam, Sadly, yes... yes I do.
The credit downgrade alone is enough reason for Obama to resign in shame, but I guess that's a word he's not familiar with?
Tam, We should call him President Downgrade!
Andrew and Tam, "Hole"? Is that the word you were looking for? (see what I did there?)
rla, I'm just messing with you. It'd be no fun otherwise :-)
Ed, I would prefer something a little more four-lettery. ;-)
T-Rav, I do indeed see what you've done there and that sounds like a good way to put it! Of course, that means he's gone from AAAhole to just Grade Ahole. :-)
AAAhole makes him sound like a villain in a superhero story!
Ed, It would make for an interesting costume, that's for sure. LOL!
yeah - I wonder that myself (when did 20somethings become "kids")... waht's funny is, I hang around this group - or parts of it - regularly, and I generally do not notice the age differential. And then something - like the "where were you" discussions about the Challenger or 9/11 happen and I am suddenly ancient!
no worries, T-Rav, I'm old and forgetful so I can't hold it against you too long...
OH & totally off topic:
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/gore-launches-24-hr-global-warming-jihad#comments
and this nonsense...
http://therumpus.net/2011/09/the-decade-of-magical-thinking/
It does not pay to go and listen to the @$#%^&$ on the other side...
rlaWTX, LOL! They say memory is the first thing to go... and I can't remember the second?
What I found was interesting was that there is a serious generation gap about 4 years younger than me. I don't know how that happened, but that group grew up in a very different world than I did?
Here are you links:
AlgoreLink
MagicLink
On your point, I've come to realize that there is very little point to listening to liberals anymore. They are just spewing BS... angry BS, and they don't care what's true or not -- nor do they listen. It's like spending time listening to the criminally insane.
The MagicLink guy is an ass. He thinks 9/11 wasn't a big deal because lots of people die all the time, but he's completely missing the point about the cause of death -- he's trying to equate cold-blooded murderous intent with starvation, which are not the same thing.
Moreover, while he tries to act like he's got the moral high ground because he tells us that we should care about all suffering, not just Americans killed in a terrorist attack (something that is simply not true with the charitable right... though it is true with the selfish left), he then makes it clear that he doesn't care about the people killed on 9/11 because he doesn't know any of them.
That's someone with a very cold heart who is kidding himself that he's morally superior to everyone else. What a pathetic jerk.
AAAhole. hee hee hee. I like it. I also like President Downgrade, aka Ahole.
sorry to help raise your blood pressure, Andrew...
as for the next group, I haven't noticed because my immediate cousins & brother (3-6 years younger than me, add 1 for you) are all just weird anyway (some in a good way, some NOT).
for the next group of cousins down (8-12 years younger), there I have noticed a difference.
This group of 20's that are friends, I met the girls at school and they have similar husbands. So we talk school and the guys talk computers & guns and we all discuss TV and politics. fun had by all.
Tam, I think they're both appropriate! LOL!
I wish I could draw because I would love to make a comic book/strip using that as Obama's secret identity!
rlaWTX, No problem... but wow is the guy a jerk! People like that really irk me. You can almost read his being happy about Americans being killed between the lines -- he acts like it's some sort of deserved thing.
I actually noticed the generational difference when I turned 21. I had a part time job that brought me in touch with a bunch of 16-17 year olds and it was like they were from another planet. They knew nothing about the shows I watched growing up or the music or even the politic events. I felt like an astronaut trying to explain Earth to so aliens. And since that time, I've continued to see this odd divide right there -- about 4 years younger than me. I have no idea what accounts for it though. You would think 4 years wouldn't be that different?
Andrew and T-Rav, Are you guys recapping the debate tonight?
Ed, I'm not planning on watching it live, but I'm thinking about summarizing it -- though I can't promise that.
Who schedules a debate during Monday Night Football?!
Ed, I literally just got back to my apartment, and to be perfectly honest, I'm a little burnt out right now. I have no interest in either the Pats or the Dolphins whatsoever, so I will watch, and if Andrew recaps it I'll certainly tack on my own thoughts (because it would obviously be incomplete without that or something).
Watching the debate...in case you didn't figure this out already, Huntsman is a jackass.
T-Rav, Why do I feel like I've been insulted? LOL!
As for the Dolphins, the Broncos and Raiders are playing next... just sayin'.
I have figured out that Newt is in this debate to keep Huntsman in limits!!!
Tam, Are you sure you mean "Huntsman"? I thought he was our best choice, kind of like a combination of Reagan and Barry Goldwater. Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else? ;-)
What's he doing?
rlaWTX, That's a good job for him! Newt should be able to make mincemeat of Huntsman.
They're talking about SS and he's made a jike about curt cobain ghost writing Mitt's book. They are all just trading barbs about who's with whom. Hermanator is the only one to make a real suggestion for solving the SS crisis.
jike = joke/jibe. Is Jibe a word?
I'm glad to hear that Huntsman is being substantive.
** rolls eyes **
I love Cain's suggestion. I've heard others talk about that for years -- it worked incredibly well in Chile.
me too (on Cain's suggestion) I think that health care saving accounts and personal retirement accounts are good ideas...don't give it to the fed, not the states, the individuals! Wow...
Jive is... or was.
The urban dictionary says that "jibe" is "a good-natured joke at a friend". Or it means "random crap".
well, there you go then!
Agreed. And I find it funny that Chile would trust its people to look after themselves, but the United States government won't trust it's own people. What does that say about us?
The last several comments have been about personal responsibility. Niiiiiice. I like it!
You know at this point, the CNN people are scratching their heads... "how does the government provide personal responsibility?"
ha ha.
I like that quote -- people are tired of spending money on programs we don't want.
that was a good one...not so hard to comprehend. Oh, thanks Ms bachmann!
I kind of love Cain.
Tam, I'm with you about Cain. I think he's fantastic.
Jesus, I'm going to have to start supporting Perry. As long as it's a two-man race between him and Romney, and Romney keeps bringing the snide attacks, I have to support him. This is not fair.
Oh, and is this Newt's second great debate performance in a row, or am I just tripping acid? (Well, I guess it could be both...)
Yeah, Romney's kind of snide. I have to say though that I got a real laugh out of Paul's attack on Perry. He scored some good points.
And I've been very impressed by the unbridled conservative points tonight.
T-Rav, They've all be doing well so far. It's been a strong debate.
me too...very nice conservative principles. That makes me happy, if whoever (perry, it seems...)follows through.
No, we can't say that Jon.
I'm only watching in spurts - and Huntsman is a - a - a jackass.
I could like Huntsman if he didn't keep dropping the code words in.
"more workers" = open borders
Last time it was "anti-science" = global warming regulation.
Let me just say, that was an epic softball question. Did Richard or whatever his name was seriously think a single candidate up there was going to say, "no, you can't be both pro-business and pro-worker"? If I ever ask a question that stupid, please slap me.
Let me clarify that... I could like Huntsman IF he was a real conservative, but he keeps dropping in these code words that tell me he's not any sort of conservative.
I wonder if Perry is giving Ron Paul a beatdown during each commercial break. Nope, doesn't look bloody.
Oh God, it's a Fed question! Gird your loins, people!
T-Rav, LOL! The Fed is under my bed!
Also... LOL! On the beat down reference. Paul denies being assaulted last time.
I would agree with what Bachmann just said about the Fed.
I have to say that my comfort level with these people continues to rise (with a few exceptions).
WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK ME ABOUT THE FED??????!!!!!!! GOLD!!!!!!!!!
But it's not Obama's fault. I like him, and he's like, totally awesome and stuff. He believes in science.
Woo hoo! Finally someone mentions GE!!
Newt Gingrich: Giving Obama headaches since last week.
I like that about Newt. Sort of the new Trump.
T-Rav, Lol! Great slogan!
I don't like all this tinkering Romney is talking about. Stop targetting tax cuts and just give us a flat tax!
I wish we could meld them all together and create a super candidate.
Gardasil...thump thump
Okay, he seems to be handling this question all right.
My doctors HATE Obamacare. I had some interesting discussions with them lately and they said it's already caused all kinds of problems.
(I agree that Perry is handling this issue well.)
Fair Tax is the ONLY solution, not FLAT TAX!!! Ed is a RINO!!!!!
@#$%%#@#!!!! I meant to put a sockpuppet on that. Sorry, Ed.
This is the core of my concern with Perry -- the cronyism.
Ed is a true conservative. T-Rav is a RINO.
I have to say that advocating the idea that vaccines should be voluntary is lunacy... pure and simple. That's fringe bullshit. (pardon my French).
F@#$% you and your opt-in Santorum. You can't let people choose to make their kids plague carriers. It took decades to kill some of the worst diseases and this asshole would bring all that back because he's a whack-job.
Okay, that was utter bullcrap. I don't understand the full issue but I'm pretty sure there was an opt-out. I disagree with a lot of what Perry did, but it's asinine for Santorum and Bachmann to be chewing him out over that.
Your mom is a RINO!
free market health care! Yay!
Ok, I gotta give Romney credit -- that was a decent answer... though I still don't care for what he did.
I'm with Tam -- free market.
It's time to get the government out of healthcare regulation.
Yay! Take your own risks!
Man I wish Paul wasn't crazy because so much of what he says is so right.
... but then he goes too far.
And...the Paulbots just went "Yeah!" when Wolf asked if society should just let sick people die. Yeah, that'll play well with moderates and independents.
Your mother was a Democrat!
T-Rav, I honestly doubt that was a real Paulite. That sounded more like a plant. No one really cheers "should they just let him die"?
Oh man oh man, the other guys here at CNN are gonna give me a swirly for not successfully asking some "gotcha" questions, I just know it...
Gee, I wonder if CNN will also bring out a Hispanic guy from Telemundo to ask the candidates about immigration? Why not, right?
T-Rav, I'm betting they bring out Al Sharpton to ask, "clearly the Tea Party wants to kill all blacks, why do you support that?"
Okay, I'm officially not liking Santorum and his cheap shots at this point.
NO!!!!
You attract Latino voters by not treating them like they are something that needs to be treated separately. You approach them the same way you approach other Americans.
equality under the law...no hyphens!
Amen, Bachmann.
Your mother got lost in the dryer!
exactly. If you treat them like "Hispanic" voters who need to be treated like something unique, you just play into the Democratic identity-politics game.
F-you Huntsman.
Huntsman, please go away. Take your three uber-RINO supporters and go away.
Wow, I'm agreeing with Romney. It's a strange feeling.
he definitely had the best answer to that question.
Yo' momma so liberal two Kennedys represent her and her alone.
You know, Huntsman is a cheap shot artist. All nasty digs without any substance.
No, no, silly. Energy independence is fine, as long as not a single extra ounce of CO2 gets released, because that will kill polar bears. Ask Al Gore if you don't believe me.
appoint the people who have been abused by the EPA to the Energy committee...I like it!
Yo' momma so liberal, her checks have to be countersigned by Obama.
In other words, Ron Paul thinks we caused everything that has happened to us, and if we just pulled out everywhere no one would be mad at us and Iran getting a nuclear bomb would be no big deal. And people are supporting this man for president.
Oh thank goodness, they're finally turning on him. I think Paul just lost it altogether.
I agree that will hurt Paul, but in truth he made a couple points... made poorly and buried in a lot of insanity.
It's one thing to say "this isn't working" and quite another to say "run away and they won't hate us."
Yo' mama such a leftie, Paul Krugman calls her a moderate.
Yo' momma so liberal she thinks all criminals are victims of the system and even the system is a victim of itself.
Andrew, it might have been wrapped in the language of the first one, but Paul made it clear that "go away and they won't hate us" is exactly what he believes. He's done.
T-Rav, I agree. That will hurt him a lot.
New betting pool: Will Newt Gingrich be rewarded with a cabinet post in the next GOP administration, and if so, which one? Winner gets 100,000 Commentarama Points(tm).
I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Yo' momma so liberal she thinks the working poor are the evil rich.
So how are we calling this one? I say if New England can hold Miami off on this last possession, they're probably home free. Uh...wait...
I would be stunned if Miami won this. That just doesn't seem within their powers. Thought they've held it closer than I expected.
On the next one, I think Denver will beat Oakland. Oakland's looked pretty weak.
as always, awesome color commentary!
Thanks rlaWTX! And thanks to everyone who joined us... not including the sockpuppets of course.
Hmmm. My tv seems to have broken. There is a bullet hole in the middle of it suddenly.
Andrew, I'd say that's accurate. And I'd go for anybody playing against Oakland, and...oh, that's right, there was a debate just now, wasn't there? Hm.
Well, I'll give CNN credit, this was a much better debate than any I've seen up to now. I think Perry clearly won this, despite some weaknesses; Gingrich did very well again; Bachmann and Santorum lost some credibility with me personally; and Ron Paul may have just destroyed whatever chances he had going in.
Keep talking... I'm putting together a post for tomorrow evening! ;-)
Actually, I agree with you, though I didn't really have any issues with Bachmann that I didn't already have. I felt a good deal more anger for Huntman tonight.
Paul had a better performance than last time, but he will have reminded people why they should never let him anywhere near the White House... even as a visitor.
CNN was a surprisingly fair broker tonight. I was amazed.
The CNN intro set the tone for the entire debate and the questions. Huntsman didn't do himself any good repeating his Democrat-Lite mantra. The others didn't surprise me much. Perry did well, Romney remains too wonkish and defensive. I don't see this debate moving the numbers much. The cheering seemed staged, and I'm not aiming that at any particular candidate. If I had to declare a winner, I'd say it was the Tea Party (which puts me 180 degrees away from how the MSM will portray it).
Well, I may have to revise my earlier thoughts: Palin apparently was just on Greta slamming Perry on the Gardasil thing as well, and a lot of people on Twitter have been saying they thought he had an uneven performance, especially where foreign policy was concerned. I don't know about that; but this could be a sign of Palin throwing her support to Bachmann, instead of Perry, which...which would be interesting.
PS: I liked the pace much better than most debates. Lots of back and forth and quick questioning requiring either talking points (bad) or real answers on the fly (good).
My favorite point was when Huntsman called out the other candidates for scaring the American people by attacking Social Security as bankrupt, a fraud, broken, and a Ponzi scheme and Newt replied that he is more concerned about Obama scaring the hell out of everybody. "President Obama recently threatened twice that if the debt deal wasn't passed, he wouldn't be able to pay out Social Security benefits. Why should young people ages 16 to 25 have politicians have the power for the rest of their lives to threaten to take away their Social Security?" Pow! Zap! I wouldn't vote for him in the primary, but he sure knows how to stir things up.
But to his credit, Huntsman did say that as far as Social Security goes, the Ryan plan is out there.
I also noticed that my favorite governor Bobby Jindal was in the audience. At least now I know who he was cheering on, even if I'm not yet convinced myself.
