Tell us the five best things about your home town. And if there aren't any, then tell us the five best things about some other town. Or make something up. We're not particular. . .

Casual travelers don't come here.

Gorgeous country side.

Neighbors are close enough to help, but aren't too close to hear what you are seeing on TV.

Gun shots don't precede a siren.

Fantastic fireworks can be bought with out a license.

Joel, Sounds rural and quite pleasant. There is much to be said about having your neighbors at a distance!

Patti, steak joints. . . mmmmmm.

I like my hometown because:

1. The mountains.

2. The lack of humidity.

3. It's got a pretty massive variety of options. You've got all kinds of restaurants and stores -- both chains and local, all different kinds of neighborhoods (more or less privacy).

4. Rush hour isn't near as bad as it was in DC.

5. Very conservative!

Best things about San Francisco:

1. You can now walk on the docks at Fisherman's Wharf, since even the sea lions have headed for better climes.

2. Nancy Pelosi spends more time in DC than she does here.

3. Homeless people rarely block the entire sidewalk.

4. You can spend a whole day just watching those Chinese merchant vessels coming in under the Golden Gate Bridge.

5. We have a healthy two-party system--the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks.

BONUS: If you stand by Sutro Tower at the top of Twin Peaks, you can actually say "I can see my house from here."

1. The ocean.

2. I'm close enough to the ocean to enjoy, but not so close that I have to deal with tourists on a daily basis.

3. The whippoorwills in late spring/early summer (I wish they would stick around all year - I could never get tired of that sound).

4. The peace and quiet.

5. The laid-back pace.

TJ, I've always liked the ocean, though I haven't been near it in years. When I young, my family lived in Tampa, which had some nice beaches, and we also took some vacations in the Keys -- which was really cool. . . glass bottom boat!

USArtguy, Brain sandwiches? Sounds like something you'd find in a restaurant for zombies? LOL!

Favorite place I've lived (now this will suprise you!)
Boulder, CO.

1.Sunny and Warm (yes! It's true)
2.People don't notice I'm a little different.
3.Tons of outdoor sports almost year round
(including ski, golf and tennis)
4.Pearl Street outdoor Mall
5.Nice distance for car vacations to New Mexico, Arizona, Grand Tetons and Grand Canyon

Andrew, I was in Tampa years ago with my family and what I got to see was nice (we were only there a couple of days). Our vacations to Florida were usually spent in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach.

AndrewPrice said...

CrisD, Boulder is nice, except for the politics! I prefer Colorado Springs because you have most of what you have in Boulder, only the city is a little bigger and the politics are much better.

TJ, I haven't been in Tampa since the 1970s, but I remember liking it a lot -- though I've become allergic to heat and humidity. Yuck.

St. Augustine is very pretty! We used to vacation in Orlando. . . Disney! What I can say, I was very young! Frankly, looking back on it, I'm amazed my parents could afford it.

So true, we were not lucky enough to have the job in Colorado Springs but took that drive many times. Loved touring the Air Force Academy!

We could JUST make out Pikes Peak far far away from our picture window.

Never could "discuss" my politics in Boulder but my husband and I had many private laughs.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Nice lyrics, did you make those up yourself?!! LOL!

P.S. I have a friend from State Island who is a big Sinatra fan, and it always angers him that Sinatra sang two songs about Chicago, but only one about New York!

AndrewPrice said...

CrisD, The Air Force Academy is beautiful! And I miss the Peak whenever I'm away from here.

Yeah, I supposed you had quite a few good laughs in Boulder. I finished my undergraduate degree at the U of Colorado at Boulder, and I remember all the nonsense being spewed about in the papers, by the locals, and by the professors.

CrisD said...

Hilarious, you lived in Boulder, too! Co-inky-dink. You know you loved the weather!!! ;D

AndrewPrice said...

CrisD, It is a small world! And yeah, the weather is great out here!

BevfromNYC said...

Yes, Andrew, I made them up. And next time ask your friend in Staten Island how they must feel in Hoboken, New Jersey. I dont' think Frank ever sang a song about Hoboken!

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I'm not aware of anyone doing anything honor Hoboken. . . or New Jersey. ;-)

Everything’s better with Southern hospitality, and I don’t mean Deliverance style.

AndrewPrice said...

Stan, I'm glad you clarified that! LOL! I do have to agree with you about southern hospitality though.
