Pictured are young immigrants paddling their way toward American citizenship (or at least toward Obama-ordered two years of amnesty). These are the DREAMers whom Obama has exempted from any immigration enforcement and whom he has granted the easy road (or river) to permanent residence and citizenship. Don't ask, don't tell is back. If an illegal immigrant says he's a DREAMer, then he is, period.
President Obama has ignored the Constitution and slapped Congress in the face. Though Congress rejected the so-called DREAM Act, Obama has, by executive order, implemented a major portion of that rejected act. For those who have dried off from their swim to citizenship, DREAM workshops have already been set up in most of America's major cities. The workshops help the applicants fill out the forms from DHS. In Chicago and Los Angeles, the crowds of DREAMers were so great that additional workshops designed to teach illegals how to become legal had to be set up. The course teaches them how to avoid the pitfalls of admitting they're here illegally under any definition, including but not limited to claiming they are DREAMers without having to explain how they fit the all-new and improved definition.
The DREAM program is open to all illegals between the ages of fifteen and thirty-one who entered the country before they were age sixteen and have lived here for at least five years. The application form requires no proof. Just say you fit, and you do. You can say I'm a DREAMer, but I'm not the only one. In fact the estimates of those who would semi-legitimately fit into the unconstitutional parameters is between 1.7 million and 3 million. It doesn't take a genius or a demographer to figure out that number will undoubtedly double or triple almost overnight as more illegals catch onto the scam.
Several TV and newspaper reports indicate that the workshops have told the illegals that if the Republicans win in November, their executive order amnesty would be revoked. Well, I certainly hope they're right. But they also know that the thing is that once that semi-legal status has been established, it will be well-nigh impossible to undo it that quickly, if it can be undone at all. So, sign 'em up! The executive order, aka The Democratic Voter Registration Project, throws a huge monkey wrench into the machinery of genuine comprehensive immigration reform.
There simply can't be any question that Obama's order is just another Democratic tactic for influencing the outcome of the presidential/congressional elections. Once young Juan and young Juanita are signed up for the program, Hispanics would take serious umbrage at that legal status being revoked. Convince enough Hispanics that this is going to happen and there could be the double benefit for the Democrats of illegal voting, and voting by angry legal Hispanic voters who encouraged their friends and relatives to come here illegally in the first place. The DREAM Act and the DREAM order are nightmares.
And not to put too fine a point on it, the order applies not only to illegals already in the United States, but also to those attempting to cross into the country. Under the Obama order, Border Agents are no longer allowed to arrest or detain those caught entering the country illegally once the magic word “DREAMer” has been pronounced, in Spanish or English. Are you pissed off yet?

Their dream. Our nightmare.
A majority of hispanic voters want the borders controlled and illegal immigration stopped. It will be interesting if this turns out to be another net loser for Obama.
Other than the open border thing, this is a smart move by the Obama administration. No matter what Romney says, the Republicans will be granting amnesty at some point - hopefully after truly securing the borders. Obama is just beating them to it for the votes. You don't start deporting 20-30 million people who have lived her most of their lives without creating a huge humanitarian crisis.
I think I'm in Anthony's camp. My hope that this all shakes out in the end is that Hispanics show a pattern of assimilation similar to whites from other parts of the world. Within a few generations, many even identify as simply "white" and drop the Hispanic part, even if their surname continues to be "Hernandez" or other such obviously Spanish names. This assimilation pattern includes political assimilation where Democrats are unable to lock down the majority of white males.
However, in the short term, yes the Democrats could really screw up this country. If they can manage to hold the reins of power long enough, they may be able to finish building their dream system (see what I did there?) where elections no longer matter. Hey, that's one way to end illegal immigration!
This is dangerous. Barry shredding the Constitution, removes the rule of law, which protects all people of all colors. If he’s successful, and checks and balances are not restored, “Executive, Legislative, Judicial” …the result could be anarchy. In essence the rule of law will be replaced with mob rule at the legislative, dictatorial powers at the executive, kangaroo courts at the judicial, a ‘60s radicals dream…they think. The country would Balkanize, pitting one group against the other, dare I say, Helter-Skelter, Charlie Manson would be so pleased. The one good thing, we’ll have a comprehensive list of illegal invaders.
is there a court challenge in the offing?
K: As I've mentioned many times, comprehensive immigration reform is absolutely necessary, and it's one of the reasons I leaned toward Rubio as the v.p. choice. There will be some form of amnesty somewhere along the line. The current situation is intolerable. But we don't have to legalize all of the current illegals (which is more like 12 to 15 million). Border security is issue number one, then we move on. We can still get rid of a lot of the undesirables the same way you eat a whale--one bite at a time. But until we secure the borders, it's an exercise in futility.
Obama's order makes the border problem worse. At least when illegals were caught crossing before, they could be tossed right back. Now, just say the magic word "DREAMer" and they're home free.
tryanmax: Assimilation is one place we've gone completely off the rails. Even those who do everything right and get their visas and later their citizenship are no longer encouraged to become American. Bilingualism is a curse, and it doesn't only affect Hispanics.
I've mentioned this before, as well. Six of my eight grandchildren qualify as Hispanic for census and Democratic vote-grabbing simply because of their last names. It's ridiculous. But programs built on race and ethnicity require this kind of distortion of facts.
Stan: I agree. Even if I thought the Congressional proposal was too broad, the executive order is an outright challenge to Congress's authority and the Constitution. It's a double-whammy. A president ruling by fiat, and a haphazard, sloppy and overly-inclusive immigration policy put into place. The balkanization you speak of is already well advanced, and this only makes it worse.
Tennessee: I believe so, but I can't point you to anything specific off the top of my head. And I haven't had my coffee yet. LOL
"Are you pissed off yet?
Oh yeah. That and more! I bet those illegals don't hafta show proof of age either.
Just goes to show yet again that leftists have no scruples, honesty, integrity, and certainly no respect for the law.
I have read conservatives at other sites that are angry at Congress for not impeaching Obama.
I understand their anger and frustration but they must realize that an impeachment will go nowhere as long as the donks control the Senate.
The only thing we can do at the moment is to redistribute the truth and tell as many folks as we can about the crap Obama has been pulling and his wanton middle finger to our Constitution and laws.
This is a good time for an Obama joke.
When Obama heard that Devo made a video attacking Mitt Romney about putting his dog seamus on the roof of his car in 1983, he said, "whippet! Whippet good!"
Excellent post, LawHawk!
Yes, I am. In fact, I fear that I'm getting overly and prematurely grouchy, to the point where if I get asked questions like "Don't you care about the poor Mexican immigrants who risked everything to get here?" I'm going to say something like "No, screw them," just for the sake of outraging people. That's probably a counterproductive approach, so maybe I should keep my mouth shut.
USSen: Middle-aged immigrants who look young for their age or younger immigrants who look older for their age simply have to say "DREAMer," and that's sufficient for at least the next two years. Even those who fit into these categories are not supposed to be questioned further. Theoretically, at least, a wrinkled, gray-haired immigrant in a wheelchair could get away with the scam.
I'll pretend I didn't read that joke. LOL
T-Rav: When I was your age (I'm guessing) another lawyer said to me "if I had one word to describe you, it would be 'angry.'" I replied that I saw so much injustice in the world that I had to be angry. Boy, was I a pompous jerk. But wildly-indignant anger is the default position of all hardcore liberals. Glad I sobered up and only get angry about things we can do something about.
I'm not sure how counterproductive your approach is (or would be), but it certainly isn't popular publicly. In private, and in their own heads and hearts, I'm sure a lot of liberals feel the same way, but will never admit it.

I think Romney's chances of devising a plan for immigration reform and getting backing from a majority of Republicans are no better or worse without Rubio then they would be with him.
However, I think those chances are slim. Bush's attempt to reform immigration died due to the strength of public opposition when the economy was a lot healthier than it is now.
Anyway, I agree with you that Obama seems to have effectively stopped deporting people who aren't violating laws other than immigration laws.
I expect Romney will tighten things up a bit, though it doesn't seem to be an issue he is passionate about one way or the other (judging by the fact he hasn't spoken about it much).
Anthony: You are probably right in the long run about Rubio. Immigration will be a major issue during the next administration, but it is not the issue in this campaign. Rubio is also a good spokesman for the party, even without being the veep pick. I think one of the reasons Romney hasn't spoken much on the issue is it doesn't help him and it could hurt him. He has made his stand on border control, and that's probably all we'll hear about it.
