Things just keep getting worse for our Kenyan overlord as he nears his 1,000th day in office. The economy hates him. The public hates him. And now the Democrats hate him. Indeed, his administration is suffering one embarrassment after another. What a crying shame. The latest is bad polling (as usual), a new vacation scandal, and a Democratic rebellion. Read on. . .Polls: Look Out Below!
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll has found that Obama continues his free fall. But even worse for him, those who “strongly disapprove” of Obama have reached new highs at 40%. ABC is interpreting this as both an increase in opposition to Obama and evidence of “hardening opposition” to Obama, i.e. evidence he’s doomed. Said ABC: “He’s like Hitler, only not as well liked.”
In West Virginia, associating the Democratic candidate for governor with Obama closed a 30% gap down to 2%. . . in a state that almost doesn’t have a Republican Party.Madame O Rides (Free) Again
Here we go again. In June, Lady Obama took another royal tour. This time she and her small staff of twenty-one (including a hairstylist and makeup artist) spent six days touring South Africa and Botswana. The stated purpose of the trip was to encourage young people living in those countries to “become involved in national affairs.” Huh? Who the hell is she to tell people in another country to get involved in their own national affairs?!
Anyway, as you might expect, this was just cover for another vacation. Her “staff” included her daughters, a niece, a nephew and her mother, who were actually listed as “senior staff.” Why? Probably so she could charge their room, board and airfare to the taxpayers. And where did she take her “staff”? They went to historical landmarks, museums, and a private safari at a South African game reserve, where Michelle brought down a Wildebeest with her bare hands. She also got to meet Nelson Mandela and no doubt somebody famous from Botswana. . . if there is such a person.
So what did this vacation cost us simple taxpaying folk? According to Judicial Watch, which had to sue the White House to get this information (which should have been freely released under the Freedom of Information Act), the Air Force plane alone cost us $424,142. No word on what it cost us for food, lodging, in-country ground transportation, and reparations to the family of the Wildebeest.
To put this in perspective, the plane alone absorbed all the taxes paid last year by 72 median-income families. Way to endear yourselves to the taxpayers! We’re Mad As Hell and We’re Not Going to Take It Anymore!
House Democrats have filed for a divorce from Obama. The last straw came when they stood up to the Republicans on the stop-gap spending measure only to hear that Obama won’t veto it. Democrats also took to the floor of the House this week to whine about Obama’s plan to keep American troops in Iraq for another year. . . wait, I thought they were all home already. . . and to whine about his Afghanistan strategy. . . assuming he has one. Reid and Pelosi made sweet, sweet love while complaining about the free trade deals Obama just sent to Congress after months of complaining that no one had passed them. Reid also refused to schedule a vote on Obama’s “jobs bill” because he thinks it will wipe out the remaining Democrats in the Senate. House Democrats are rewriting the bill because they won’t pass Obama's bill.
And now we hear Ralph Nader will be running against Obama in the primary, with the support of 45 progressive leaders.Anybody But Obama!
We also have a couple of notes of interest regarding the 2012 election. First, a Rasmussen poll released yesterday told us that any generic Republican now beats Obama 47% to 41%. Most of the named candidates do better.
Finally, for those who spent last night under a rock, Sarah Palin has now opted not to run. With her out and Christie bowing out on Monday, the GOP field is essentially set and conservatives should soon be gravitating toward their choice, which is also bad for Obama.

I call bullcrap, Andrew! There's no such place as Botswana! You're just making stuff up to make Our Fearless Leader look bad.
I haven't even read the article yet and I'm cracking up at the headline!
Are you gonna tune in when he speaks in a few minutes? No?
Oh, jeez. He's giving another speech!?
Right now, it's Cain for me! I am done voting for insiders, local, state and national! Done I tell ya, done! Finished. ooh that felt good.
T-Rav, Ok, I lied about that one. I just wanted to see if you were on your toes! She actually went to a Target store in Philly. ;)
tryanmax, I'm glad you enjoy Obama's suffering! LOL! Sadly, we're sharing it.
CrisD, What's he speaking about now? Doesn't he realize that no one is listening anymore?
tryanmax, I'll give him this though -- he's not on the air as much as Clinton. When Clinton was president, he was every show and I think he gave a televised speech every single day. He was like Castro only without the cigar. . . oh, wait.
DCAlleyKat, Judging on national polls, a lot of people are with you on that. Cain seems to be surging and needs to be considered either the front runner or tied for that status right now. Let's see if he keeps it?
"sweet, sweet love" - thanks for that image. Ah!!
I'm really amazed that Michelle keeps taking these vacations on our dime? Don't they know how much this anger the public?
You are cracking me up today, Andrew. Laugh lines so far include:
"Obama's Bad Week Enters 989th Day"
"our Kenyan overlord"
"Michelle brought down a Wildebeest with her bare hands."
"Reid and Pelosi made sweet, sweet love" (Not so much funny as disturbing, that one.)
"[Michelle] actually went to a Target store in Philly."
"[Clinton] was like Castro only without the cigar. . . oh, wait."
LOL! I think I just peed a little.
Sorry about that DUQ. Can you imagine the press conference though? Yuck!
I think Michelle doesn't care because she sees this as a perk of being the Queen. I also think their followers don't care and the MSM will cover it up, so they think they have nothing to fear from abusing the position.
tryanmax, I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)
I thought the image of her bringing down the Wildebeest was particular vivid. I can see her sprinting after it and bringing it down like some sort of lioness... or the alien from Alien.
I have no problem sending Michelle O and twenty of her toadies to Africa at public expense.
Bringing her back is another matter all together.
LL! LOL! Now that I like! I wish I'd thought of that! :)
What did he say? I was in class so I missed it. Ah, why do I bother asking--"second verse, same as the first."
Ah'm Barry O, the furst, Ah am.
Barry O, the furst, Ah am, Ah am.
T-Rav, I didn't watch it. I never did care for The Gong Show, and now that they've gotten rid of the gong it's even worse because Obama just drones on.... "evil rich... I am the one... bad Republicans... you are in the Matrix... pass my jobs bill..."
tryanmax, I do believe you've discovered his theme song. I hear they're going to start playing that instead of Hail to the Thief whenever he enters a room.
Our long national nightmare continues. At least there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Ed, Yep. The end is near. ;)
Andrew, I just saw that Hank Williams Jr. and ESPN have parted ways.
Ed, I see that. I wish Hank well. ABC... not so much.
989 bad days couldn't happen to a more deserving person...
tryanmax - now I have that song stuck in my head!
Botswana - Philly - close enough...
YAY CAIN!
ESPN/ABC - dummies!
did anyone find out if BO said anything new... never mind...
while I'd like the US's bad days to end, please let O's continue... through, say, November 2012...
rlaWTX, Nice rundown! :)
I agree, let's keep Obama safely in office until the Republicans are ready to take over. I would hate for the Democrats to replace Obama with somebody competent before the election.
Of course, that would involve getting Biden to resign first and then appointing someone with a brain to replace him and then getting Obama to resign so they could move up. Or they could go the Alexander Haig route and just have Hillary declare that she's in charge!
I haven't even seen a headline about what Obama talked about, so apparently even the MSM has stopped caring.
I did see that last night he claimed Steven Jobs gave him an ipad before anyone else. So even people's deaths are now about Obama being selfish. What a jerk.
I would like to see an audit and frankly a reimbursement of all his and her vacations. He's a rich fictional novelist, he can afford his own vacations. Why should they be getting government handouts? Congressmen can't use government money for personal use. Why should the president? They have a very nice retreat in Camp David to use. If our overlord wanted to go back to his home Continent and tour, meet heads of state, even give boring speeches fine that is his job. It would even be okay with me if he brought his wife and kids. But just because he can't stand to have her around all the time doesn't mean we should have to pay for getting rid of her.
About all the security that travels around both of them. I know the prospect of a Biden presidency scares the crap out of about 90% of Americans, but frankly the president is replaceable. If someone shot him (God forbid), we would be sad and morn and would be pissed, but the government would still continue on unabated. The pentagon was hit by a frickin' airplane (or cruise missile if you believe the truthers) and yet still business carried on. That is the beauty of having a government whose powers are wildly spread out. Very difficult to bring down by eliminating just one or two people. The Target store incident really should have only required 4 secret service agents: two with Michelle and two outside. The store should not have been shut down and people should not have been harassed. That elitism is also hurting the image of the presidency both domestically and internationally.
Koshkat, I agree. I understand that there are many nuts, but it seems that the security concerns are just way overblown these days. They won't even let a President go to the White House mailbox without a hundred person armed escort. Have we really become so paranoid to think that the First Lady can't pop into a Target store unannounced without killers suddenly appearing?
On the overseas trips, I can totally see why the President should get Air Force One. But that should be for official use only. The Obamas are abusing the perks of office to turn the Presidency into an all expenses paid trip to a life of luxury. Those are hard-earned taxpayer dollars she's blowing every month to go jet off to some other luxury vacation spot. It's obscene and I think they need to be made to reimburse every penny to the Treasury.
I just got the president's speech. Bear in mind, this is rush transcript, so it may not reflect exactly what what said.
Good--uh--morning. Um. Everybody. I will take your--questions?--inasecond. But first--um--I just want to say---afewwords--about--myself.
I am--the, uh, Center Of The Universe! Aaaand, I--canproveit. I am standing--righthere. Aaaand, every thing else--isaroundme.
All right? Thank you--verymuch, everybody.
tryanmax, That's what I read too! LOL!
Awesome, tryanmax!!!!!!!
I think that Obama is about at the point where he is going to throw a full on temper tantrum with breath holding and flailing included...be on the lookout for drones in your general vicinity.
Bev, I heard your friends down in the park are now having sanitation problems. You should ring fence them all in and treat it like an experiment to see how long they last.
Andrew, let's really test the protestors. Cut off all internet and cell phone access. I anticipate seizures and confusion will set in immediately. Once they actually have to listen to the inanity of the idiots around them instead tweeting, they will turn on themselves. Also, let's invite all the homeless in town for the free food.
Koshcat, I love that idea! They would go insane if they actually had to start listening to each other. Plus, can you imagine the cellphone/laptop withdrawal? LOL!
And then to bring over the homeless they pretend to care about, but really don't would just be the cherry on the sunday! We could pass out corporate food from McDonalds too -- just to see how long the protestors can resist!
Andrew - I am just guessing, but I bet the businesses with bathrooms around the park have stopped letting them use their facilities since they probably had no idea they would be in the park so long. I say let them get dysentary and colera. Then maybe they'd appreciate our high level of sanitation in the US brought to them by Clorox and Lysterine.
what a great Saturday Night Live Opening skit this would make, if only . . . if only they would just attack a lib. president Zero, B.O., and all this.
Bev, Dysentery and cholera! Now that would be worth the price of admission!
Just steer clear of the park! Blech!
Jed, This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that should be parodied... but they'll never do it.
Welcome back from the factory! I trust it all went well?! :)
If a CBS reporter gets screamed and cursed at just for asking WH officials questions, and then the news bureau folds, I doubt anyone associated with the networks will dare to do something so...um...unflattering.
T-Rav, Did they really close the bureau? I hadn't heard that part. That's really shameless!
Andrew, no, I meant metaphorically, as in "caved." The bureau didn't close down, but it did apparently transfer Sharyl Attkinson (the offending reporter) to a different post, one which doesn't involve access to the Teleprompter-in-Chief. Great job.
On the plus side, apparently Obama's lovefest--er, I mean--press conference turned sour today after Jake Tapper started asking some pointed questions about Solyndra and Fast & Furious. And then a couple others joined in. Why do I get the feeling he and they are about to be audited?
Or may find themselves covering polar bears.
apparently Jake Tapper is the only reporter allowed to actually ask any difficult questions... and then only occasionally. I wonder if he and Carney? (Pres Sec) spin a wheel before a press conference to see what level of question Tapper is allowed to ask this time...
rlaWTX, I can see that. "Oh, you hit the big time today Jake! You can ask one question about a recent scandal! Good for you. I was pretty sure the wheel would stop on sycophantic nonsense again. . . that is 90% of the choices."
Okay, so...something weird is happening in the Senate. Rumor is Reid is forcing a vote on a rules change that would either get rid of the filibuster or alter the addition of amendments or something. Very confusing.
Sounds like they're trying to push something through. And idea if this is a permanent thing or just for some bill?
And the more he hitches his wagon to the OccupyWallStreet morons, the worse his poll numbers will get.
Couldn't happen to nicer (and dumber) president.
Andrew, that's what I'm trying to find out. Bizarrely, this seems to be related to that resolution being passed asking China to stop devaluing their currency. Apparently a cloture vote was achieved by the Democrats, but the Republicans kept motioning amendments, and Reid seems to have thrown a temper tantrum and forced a rules-change vote to cut off the motioning of amendments. I'm not saying that as a nose-thumbing of Reid, but for the life of me I can't figure out why he would do this over such a mundane issue. Because this seems to be tantamount to the "nuclear option" proposal a few years back.
Writer X, Isn't that the truth -- he isn't anywhere near the sharpest tack in the presidential box! He's probably the dullest actually, and the laziest.
I always find it interesting that PR people tend to push the exact opposite of what is really going on. Hence, when you get someone truly stupid (like Obama) you start seeing articles everywhere about how smart he really is. When you get someone cold and angry, you see stories about how nice they are in person. Etc. I see this all the time. You can almost guarantee that if a news story tells you something about a person's personality or their traits, then the exact opposite is true.
And what do we hear about Obama all the time? He's soooo smart. Uh huh, sure.
T-Rav, Interesting -- especially since Obama has warned them not to do this. I guess Reid thinks he needs to get his "union cred" up before the election and passing this thing, which will blow up in the House or at the White House will do that?
If he does pass it, the House Republicans should pass it too and force Obama's hand.
Okay, what appears to have happened is that in the midst of the China resolution stuff, McConnell tried to force a vote on a motion to suspend the rules and proceed to a vote on Obama's "Pass This Jobs Bill Now!" bill. Which, per Senate rules, is doable. Obviously, the point was to show that Senate Democrats are badly divided on the bill. Reid responded by claiming that McConnell needed unanimous consent to do so, and held a vote to that effect. He won it (though just barely, 51-48: apparently the Dems themselves were so confused some of them originally voted no), which amounts to a change of the rules. So the filibuster itself isn't affected, but subsequent attempts at amendments and rules suspension appear to now require unanimous consent--in other words, are de facto impossible.
Again, I can't figure out what Reid was thinking. This is a tactically stupid manuever no matter how you look at it. What precisely does he think is going to happen in the Senate with those rules, come 2013?
Thanks for the news update! This has been the T-Rav News Network. . . T.R.N.N.
T-Rav, I think Reid is probably desperate not to vote on the President's jobs bill and he was going to do whatever it took not to put the Democrats on record voting for or against that turkey.
I doubt he thought about the precedent he is setting. Hopefully, the Republicans are paying attention and will feel free to use all the tricks Reid has come up with to do things like repeal ObamaCare and undo the last 3 years.
P.S. If I'm reading you correctly, it's now impossible to pass anything through the Senate so long as any Senator objects?
Thanks for the compliments, Andrew! Glad I can be of service. :-)
If I got things right, it's not impossible to pass things through the Senate if any Senator objects; any amendment offered by the minority party can be defeated by a single Senator's objection. In short, for the time being, the GOP essentially has no power to attach amendments to a bill post-cloture vote. They can only be ones backed by the majority party. I may not have all the details right, so here's a boiled down version from the Washington Examiner:
http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/reid-rewrites-senate-rules-shocking-move
If this holds up, it'll be a kick in the you-know-what for the Dems once we get the Senate back. Ben Nelson, I might add, was the only one to cross over and vote against this.
Thanks T-Rav, Here's your link: LINK.
I read it the same way you do, that the minority can no longer force the majority to vote on amendments. That means the power to shape legislation now lies entirely with the majority.
I actually like this change because it will be very useful for the Republicans, who won't get the 60 votes they need, but can use this to keep the Dems from derailing legislation -- though the filibuster will remain a problem.
I'll give ol' Benedict Nelson credit for one thing, he may be an incorrigible liberal, but he aint' stupid.
tryanmax, Any chance Nebraska will finally toss him out?
tryanmax, that's very true. Certainly I would never give Claire McCaskill or some others credit for having the minimum necessary threshold of brain cells.
Lots of folks around here would like to see Ben go like never before. But strange things can happen in Nebraska.
As of today's date the GOP frontrunner, Jon Bruning, has a 4-point lead over Nelson. That's down from January. Same story for Don Stenberg, the GOP second.
And there's the matter of Plains States Stubbornness. There's always the possibility that the primary loser's camp will sit out on election day. The local Republican Party is made up of a lot of stiff-necked crybabies.
On the other hand, no matter who gets the GOP nod, it promises to be the most contentious US Senate race in Nebraska in living memory.
That's depressing. Of course, it could be worse. The Colorado GOP is a real collection of village idiots.
They specialize in infighting, stabbing each other in the back and then running as third party candidates to make sure their primary opponents can't win.
We also specialize in the libertarian vs. Religious Right wars, the purpose of which seems to be to make sure that we are neither moral nor free by ensuring that the Democrats stay in power. Hence, our state does things like letting it's government workers unionize when the rest of the world is going the other way and we passed a bill last year to let anyone use any gender bathroom they want because gender-specific bathroom are discrimination.
We are our own worst enemies out here.
trip was great. I saw some commercial projectors that throw off 12000 lumens. Unreal. Picked up my projector while I was there. Iam now a firm believer in this company, and DLP/LED technology. This thing looks like a 3 chip DLP. Color saturation is awesome. In a dedicated theater, it is plenty bright, and the contrast is outstanding. I was looking at a blue ray of Mad Men where the up front lead in is great for showing black levels. They set it up great out of the box, although my installer will probably tweak it a little. Came back on U.S. 411 to check on the foliage. Should be good in another couple of weeks. :-)
Jed, Glad everything went well! A friend of mine got into projectors years ago, but I'm not sure he ever did anything as large as you're talking about. It's funny that handling black is so difficult for televisions/television technology. You would think it would be easy, but I've had a really hard time finding quality televisions that handled black well -- usually it's kind of grayish.... or worse, it reflects the colors around it and gives you a phantom image.
The foliage is starting to change out here too. I should go spend a day up in the mountains away from my computer. That would either be good for me. . . or it would kill me. I'm not sure which yet.
