OccupyWallStreet (OWS) is the new Tea Party, right?! That’s what the Democratic Party wants to believe. But are the Democrats making a mistake embracing these idiot malingerers sleeping in their own feces. Yep. And now one Democratic pollster is alarmed.
The Democrats have been busy embracing the OWS “movement” because they think this represents a leftist Tea Party. They think OWS can be transformed into a broad national movement which will energize dispirited Democratic voters, just as the Tea Party breathed life into conservatives. Thus, Pelosi, Obama, Frank and the rest are out there praising these idiots and trying to reshape their confused message into standard Democratic talking points.
But things aren’t going so well. An AP poll the other day found that only 39% of the public supports the OWS protestors, and that poll's sample was skewed about 17% to the left. Moreover, almost all of that 39% comes from Democratic and Socialist ranks. So is it really a good idea for the Democrats to embrace OWS?
That’s what Democratic pollster Douglas Schoen wanted to find out. So he sent a researcher wading into the crowds (presumably in a biohazard suit) to conduct face to face interviews with 198 of them. What he found was not a new Tea Party of the left. Instead, he found an angry bunch of clueless leftists who hate you. And he thinks Obama/Pelosi are making a “critical error in embracing” these fools and it could cost them the election: [T]he Occupy Wall Street movement reflects values that are dangerously out of touch with the broad mass of the American people. . . . What binds a large majority of the protesters together is a deep commitment to left-wing policies: opposition to free-market capitalism and support for radical redistribution of wealth, intense regulation of the private sector, and protectionist policies to keep American jobs from going overseas.
Specifically, he found they have a distinct hard-core leftist ideology:● More than half of these protestors (52%) are professional protestors.
And check out these views as well:
● 98% support civil disobedience to achieve their goals and 32% support violence.
● Schoen found no Republicans or conservatives. 50% are Democrats, socialists or anarchists. Most of the rest claimed no party. But 74% of them voted for Obama in 2008, and about the same are likely to vote for him again in 2012. The other quarter say they won’t vote at all in 2012.
● 77% want to raise taxes on “the rich” and 36% want to raise taxes on everyone.
● 73% oppose free trade and support protectionism.
● 65% think government has a “moral responsibility” to provide guaranteed healthcare and college education.● 40% blame corporations or capitalism for the nation’s problems. Another 6% blame “income inequality”, which is a proxy for “capitalism” on the left.
Their goals include:
● 7% blame the nation’s problems on Bush.
● 2% blame military spending.
● 15% blame the American people, those fools.
● 2% blame the Tea Party.
● And strangely, 21% blame “partisanship”. . . said the highly partisan crowd. I actually interpret this either as a code word for imposing a single-party government or they think this is what the public wants to hear.● 4% Dissolution of our representative democracy/capitalist system
They're hypocrites too. They claim to speak for the unemployed but 85% are employed or students. They claim to oppose Wall Street, yet 49% supported TARP. They claim to hate capitalism, but 68% want more money.
● 4% Radical redistribution of wealth
● 7% Direct Democracy
● 9% Mobilizing Progressives
● 4% Single payer health care
● 4% Pulling out of Afghanistan immediately
Finally, we have this entertaining note. Apparently, the OWS drummers are upset. The fascists who run the leaderless protest “are becoming the government we’re trying to protest,” whined a 19-year old, feces-covered inbred. “They’re imposing a structure on the natural flow of music,” said another pothead, before he added this bit of racism: “They suppressed people’s opinions. I wanted to introduce a different proposal, but a big black organizer chick with an Afro said I couldn’t.”
What has upset them? Apparently, the OWS organizers have imposed a “tax” and are taking the money the drummers are “earning” fleecing passing idiots. This has upset the drummers, who feel they aren’t getting anything in return for the taxes being taken from them. . . no irony there, nope, none at all.

I love OWS, apologies to Bev. They are a living breathing example of the deranged mentality of the modern democrat party. These idiots arrived here via a ‘60s time machine, as the spawn of radicals of yore. They are further revealing the democrats as to who they are…now fully unmasked. This is a place leftist never, ever want to be in America, loud and proud, isolating themselves into the real 19% they actually represent. So I say beat your drums, scream and shout, defecate where you sleep, 2012 is coming, and you’re dead meat.
Whether Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest are fully aware of what OWS stands for or not, their spineless impulse to jump in front any passing parade has caught up with them. They've accidentally jumped in front of a mob.
I can't help but laugh about "imposing a structure on the natural flow of music." Without structure, there is no music. LOLZ!
Oh, and also, the Tea Party doesn't blame all our economic misfortunes on the Jews. Probably because we're getting paid off by the Kochs, so, you know, that would look bad...
Hey, I haven't received my Jew-money check yet this month. Anybody else still waiting for theirs? /sarc
Indeed! I’ve been to over a half dozen Tea Party events, and as of yet, I have not received payment for my protesting, perhaps I should beat on a drum?.
I can't help wondering how many of these fools who are whipping up the mob are trying to relive their glory days of the 60s. The mob has no idea what those "organizers" are talking about. The mob has no sense of purpose, no understanding of history, no common goals, and what few actual ideologies exist among them seem to be in conflict with each other and even internally-inconsistent. Any boost the Democrats think they're going to get from these lowlifes is entirely illusory.
Stan, LOL! I agree. While the Democrats may think this groups looks good to the public, I frankly can't see it. People see these nuts as malingerers, whiners, socialists and deeply anti-American. So I agree, let the Democrats embrace them! Remind people of the kind of America the Democrats crave.
tryanmax, Excellent point! Without structure, music is noise. I thought it was hilarious that the moment they are told to contribute, these budding socialists start whining about oppression -- and they can't stand paying tax on money they've earned.... yet that's exactly what they think the government should do to everyone else.
Good point about Obama, etc. They've gone so far off the rails they can't distinguish between good and bad protests and between the public (Tea Party) and just some jerks whining in a park.
T-Rav, Yeah, there is the Jewish thing too on OWS. But that's what you get when your leaders see Hitler and Stalin as models of the kinds of people they wish they could be.
Basically, this is a group of violent, hateful, anti-American, anti-capitalism, anti-democratic morons who would destroy this country and will probably kill each other off if we declare the park and independent country and let them set up a government.
We should do that. :)
tryanmax, The Koch brothers promised to send out the checks next week, once they get back from their "Oppress The World" conference! ;)
Stan, Chicks dig guitar players, but Jewish-bankers dig drummers!
For the sake of wealth redistribution, I propose that the OWS protestors start paying us for our efforts themselves, out of their parents' Ivy League trust funds. Seems only fair, right?
Lawhawk, I would bet a lot of the organizers are 60's radicals who see this as their last chance to be relevant.
And you're right, the crowd if not ideological, so much as it is a grievance mob -- they all have their own grievances and they have banded together to whine about those, whether they contradict or not.
The one thing they all do have in common though, is leftist entitlement thinking and a good deal of hate. That's what Schoen is worried about -- that the Democrats have failed to grasp that's who they're dealing with.
T-Rav, I think we need an OWS tax to redistribute the income they don't deserve to other protest groups that haven't been as "fortunate". After all, the OWS crowd clearly has more than they need.
This doesn't surprise me. It's interesting though that 25% aren't planning to vote. I figured they would vote Socialist Workers Party or something like that.
They should occupy something useful, like a job or a mob and bucket and clean up their mess. I hope the drumming drives them all insane! :D
DUQ - any way to raise that percentage?
Seriously.
"mob and bucket"? Freudian slip, methinks.
DUQ, I suspect either that (1) they are lying and don't want to tell a surveyor that they intend to vote for the socialist workers party, because that wouldn't go well with the public, or (2) they don't vote because they know they can't achieve their goals at the ballot box.
Ed, On the drumming, I feel sorry for anyone who lives near the park. They are the ones who are probably going insane.
How about occupy a country that really needs it... like Sudan?!
tryanmax and Ed, nice Freudian slip! LOL!
tryanmax and DUQ, Wouldn't it be great if none of them voted! And by "none" I mean any of the 39% that claim to support them in that AP survey.
tryanmax, Clearly my subconscious understands the OWS crowd better than the democrats! Lol!
"More than half of these protestors (52%) are professional protestors."
W...T...heck?? Where do you go to apply for a job as a "professional protestor?" Do they turn on FOX news while watching their stocks, then head out to OWS for their day? Wonder how the bennies are with that job, hmmm...
Or are they more like the professional homeless people profiled now and then who live in big houses and drive nice cars, but discovered they make more money panhandling on the corner than at a real job?
Oh, and also! I love the bit about the tax on the drummers. I'm seriously LMBO on that one!!
Kind of like them bitching about their Ipods and laptops being stolen. No, they were just redistributed to someone who clearly needed it more than you did. (Now go get your daddy to buy you a new one. You know he will.)
Crispy, Essentially, they are people who work for unions or interest groups, e.g. NARAL or the NRA or some such organizations. And they spend their time fundraising and then protesting whenever these things come up. That is their profession. Or they are students who are politically active and also attend these types of protests. What they are not is regular people with regular jobs where they have to earn a living by providing labor in exchange for goods or services. They are professional beggars.
Crispy, I'm glad you liked the bit about the tax on drummers. They are apparently really upset and they don't even see the irony in that!
Yeah, I thought the stolen Apple gear was funny too. That's the world they want -- a world without property. Apparently, it's not as nice of a world as they originally imagined. LOL!
"Yeah, I thought the stolen Apple gear was funny too. That's the world they want -- a world without property. Apparently, it's not as nice of a world as they originally imagined."
Yes, except they STILL don't see their hypocrisy and don't get why the world doesn't work they way want it to. It's hard for me to fathom how people can truly be this dumb. Yikes.
Someone made the point the other day that with the watchmen they've put in to prevent further thefts, the protestors have already progressed from pure anarchy to a security state (if we're going to indulge their beliefs that they form their own little world). Maybe soon they'll learn how an economy works, and act according to things like supply and demand, and all that. It makes me laugh when reality intrudes on ideology.
Crispy, That's what happens when people don't think through what they are demanding and only see how they think it will affect them. It's the same reason so many communists had no problem with the work camps to rid society of its enemies -- because they assumed they would never be looked at as enemies.
T-Rav, The ironies here are immense. First, they create a government (only they call them "organizers" to delude themselves) and that government has the power to tax. Now it has a police force. What's next?!
P.S. T-Rav, They are essentially re-enacting "Animal Farm" at this point.
LOL @ re-enacting "Animal Farm"!
T-Rav, you are so right. It's like a microcosm of societal evolution. Hopefully they will get to free markets, property rights and liberty within another few weeks. Then they will have evolved enough to understand and join the Tea Party! Hee hee!
Crispy, Now that is funny! It would be like some sort of science fiction show where they re-create human history in short order! :)
I wrote an open letter on my blog to these "Occupiers" a few days ago. It is a little harsh. It is heartfelt though.
I hope that these idiots figure out that it isn't doing themselves any good "occupying" a public area and whining about how tough life is.
This has turned into the funniest most entertaining thing for a long time. And the best thing to happen to the conservative movement.
1. The anarchists have developed a government
2. They have hired people to control the rules
3. They have people who have already been corrupted by outside interests (paid protestors)
4. They have started to abandon the "from each of his ability to each of his needs". This is fine just don't take my iPad
5. Utopia smells bad if you don't have rules regarding sanitation (see number 1 and 2)
6. It's ok for them to steal from the rich because they don't need all that money, but don't take mine!
7. Multiple far left wing democrats have now shown their true colors - they are not progressive, they are communists.
8. By spending so much time on a small number of smelly protestors, the MSM has shown it's hand on how they truly believe. Can we just start calling them CCTV 1, CCTV 2, etc.?
9. Most of these protestors have shown just how economically and governmentally ignorant they are and how dumb their ideas really are.
10. They have been shown to everybody that truly most people don't agree with their narrow point of view about the world.
11. How anti-semetic these people really are.
12. I can't think of another on an empty stomach, but I'm sure I am missing some.
Shall we call it the drum tax, the rhythm tax, or the anti-government tax?
Thank you, Andrew. I can't stop laughing at the idiocy.
Joel, You raise a very possible scenario. I like your ending though with the thought that if they really wanted to change the world, they should get out there and do something positive to make it a better world.
Unfortunately, the left has come to believe that standing around whining is something positive. It's not doing something positive requires helping people, not complaining about the world.
But I don't expect OWS to understand that.
Wow... Rush is reporting right now that the OWS people are putting their money --- are you sitting down?? -- IN A BANK!!!
Nope, not redistributing it amongst themsevles. Nope, they've opened an account at an evil, evil bank and have deposited their donations there.
And Rush is speculating on how they've organized themselves for tax purposes.
This is too rich! Wow.
Koshcat, You're welcome!
I love your list. LOL!
The thing I find truly hilarious is the idea by the drummer that he doesn't like their "government" telling him what to do and then taking money he's earned to support the group, which he thinks already has enough. In effect, he's just expressed the exact opposite of everything he and the rest claim to believe --
(1) that government should regulate everything,
(2) that everyone should be happy to pay more in taxes, and
(3) that those who have should be forced to pay over to the government to help whoever the government thinks needs the money more.
He wants communism imposed on all of us, but wants limited government capitalism applied to himself. Ha!
Crispy, O-M-G!! Would those be the same banks they want to tear down?!!!
LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! Andrew, when they start enforcing standards of public decency and so on, that's when we'll know the timeline has closed in upon itself.
Crispy, I think I heard that not too long ago (the bank, I mean). The irony is so thick, you could cut it with a knife. I guess this means the MSM has to start denouncing them as corporate Wall Street pawns now, right?
T-Rav, Yeah, they're getting close.
In fact, if I could draw, I would do a political cartoon that shows five panels:
1. OWS
2. imposing government/rules
3. imposing taxes
4. the bank deposit
5. OWS as The Tea Party
And I'd title it: "Political Evolution."
I hope that our Republican campaign people are making sure to catalog all the soundbites of Democrats embracing these a**holes. The other one we need to hammer in the general election is how Libya's interim government is going for strict Sharia law. President B.O. "Zerobama" and his faithful steed Hillary were sort of doin' a victory lap and got a little bump in the polls. Let's remind everybody that they beat the crap out of Bush for not having thought through the "post regime change "Iraq.) B.O. may not have the wonderful result he was hoping for.
Their little societal microcosm only underscores the fact that they ought to be protesting the government rather than Wall Street. If the homestead act hadn't been ended, these people could just go occupy some of the third of the country owned by the federal government, instead of stinking up NYC.
Actually, they should do that anyway. But these folks aren't hippies. They don't want to commune with nature. The just want to be seen and heard for the little narcissists they are.
What woes me is that there is no impressing upon these people that their real beef is with the government. They don't understand cause-and-effect and they reject notions of authority and responsibility, so they can't understand that if a company is in bed with the government, it is ultimately the government to blame because they are the rule maker.
It's like if an employee sleeps with the boss to get a promotion. Sure, the employee is behaving unethically, but it is the boss who is responsible for the affair. If these OWS people a board of directors, they would fire the employee and give the boss a raise and instructions to hire the Swedish Bikini Team.
Andrew, I hope some political cartooner has done that! It should then be posted far and wide...
nitwits.
Did TOTUS announce a hard end date for withdrawal from Iraq or Afghanistan over the weekend? I thought I heard it mentioned at the farm, but I was afraid to ask and be sucked into the vortex of a political discussion that would not go well...
Jed, I think the best thing about this OWS is that they advertise themselves. The MSM is busy trying to tell everyone that this is some sort of Democratic Tea Party and that is putting these idiots and their childishness on people's television screens day after day. And then add in every Democrat you can find trying to get on television praising them and you have an ongoing campaign ad reminding the public that this is what the Democrats want for the country.
Good point on Libya. They have botched that in every possible way and trying to claim some sort of victory out of helping to yank the country from one fire into another will not help Obama at all.
tryanmax, The problem is they are blinded by a half-ideology. They have been told to hate certain people and that's what they do. They never ask if they should be hating those people (or anyone really), nor do they ask if others are really to blame. They are essentially mindless.
That's why all the ironies keep creeping up, because they haven't thought through their "ideology," so they hate companies, but love their products. They hate capitalism, but want its money. They want to raise taxes, but not on themselves. They want regulation of the private sector, but don't think that should apply to them.
That's what happens when you go off with only a bumpersticker-level understanding of the world and of politics.
Good analogy too, but again, they won't see that because it doesn't fit what they've been told to believe.
rlaWTX, Let's hope! It would make for an excellent cartoon.
I understand that he announced the troops will be coming home from Iraq sometime soon -- the date still seems to keep changing (plus, we've been told this 3-4 times already).
I haven't heard anything about Afghanistan, except that the Afghans said they would side with Pakistan if we went to war with Pakistan.
If you want more on the Occupy craziness, I recommend checking out verumserum.com right now. They have a bunch of stories on their front page, like the wave of shootings in NYC since all this started, or a statutory rape that went down in Dallas, or a knife-wielding homeless guy dressed up like the Joker in (I think) Boston. You know, stuff that's too trivial or biased for the networks to cover.
T-Rav, It sounds like OWS is a crime wave in action?
Here's the link: LINK.
I particularly like "Occupy Legoland." :)
Have I said lately how much I detest these people?
Oh and btw, they are not rolling around in their own feces. They are "doing their business" in doorways of private residences near the park. And dumping their garbage outside the park.
Yesterday they wrote that they want to negotiate for the city to put up port-o-potties for them. They's pay of course.
Bev, Wonderful! So if you live nearby, you get to hear the drums all day and then they come "do their business" on your doorstep.
I would be very upset at NYC for not making these idiots move on or forcing them to clean up their messes.
The city should impose its own taxes on the drummers to pay for the Porta-Potties! :)
I know I'm speaking from flyover country, but I hope the powers in NYC stay too chicken to do anything for so long that the Democrats lose the city. High hopes, I know, but a fella can dream, can't he?
OMG! Did you see the stupid, Stupid, STUPID Occupy LegoLand video? He's just got a bunch of figurines stuck to a building base! No wonder he's out there. He's too stupid to be creative with LEGOS!!!
tryanmax, Speaking as a huge fan of Legos, yeah... the guy is an idiot. How can you not be creative with Legos? Until now, it seemed impossible. But sadly, this guy proved the exception. Bah!
As for leaving them in NYC, I have to agree there's something funny about OWS going into the hearts of liberal cities and protesting. And while I feel sorry for Bev, I agree that the longer this stuff drags on, the more ridiculous it will become and the more it will reflect poorly on liberaldom.
Occupy Legoland? Whiskey Tango!
rlaWTX, Yeah, that was my thought too! I guess that's what happens when "not-serious" people try to do serious things?
Actually they have raised almost $500,000+ and about the same amount in goods/services. I thingk the IRS needs to come in and do an audit. They are not an official "non-profit", so I would think that IRS deserves it share...
Bev, I'd heard that about the money. I think you're right that the IRS should look into this because that is income and should be taxed.
After all, OWS wouldn't want to pay their fair share, right?
The other good point about the money is that there's no reason they can't pay for their own toilets or their own clean up. Why should the taxpayers need to pay for that when they have the money to pay it for themselves?
It seems that my predictions might come true. No, I don't have a crystal ball. It just was so obvious how ignorant these people were of how the real world works.
Given that these "time warping hippies" showed up out of no where... coupled with the fact that an anti-semite Nazi Collaborator going by the name of George Soros is financially backing the leaders... and Krugman or some other prostitute of his ilk actually said that this now needs a Kent State Moment is it very hard to predict something might happen?
Joel, While I don't doubt the more violent progressives would be very happy to get a Kent State boost, the problem here is that they are in liberal cities and they are facing liberal police departments -- not the National Guard. So I don't think they'll get any sort of support from that. To the contrary, they will further discredit liberaldom by showing (1) that liberalism equates to mob violence and (2) that liberals don't know how to handle mobs.
I see that Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed (a black Democrat, by the way) is indicating that he's about ready to kick out his local chapter of the movement. I can't wait to see how libs spin that one if his city is the first to see a showdown.
T-Rav, They'll probably focus on it being Georgia, and thus a racist, conservative state.... pay no attention to the liberal giving the order!
